db Bistro moderne
Located one block east of Times Square in New York City, db bistro is the perfect spot for pre- and post-theater dining, a Midtown business lunch or breakfast “à L’Express”. Happy hour specials offered daily from 3-6pm.
It was here that Daniel Boulud launched the gourmet hamburger craze in 2001 that took the world by storm. The DB Burger, stuffed with red wine-braised short ribs and foie gras, continues to be a main attraction.
Our handsome bar area features a seasonal menu of dishes that can be enjoyed with exceptional wines and cocktails.

Absolutely amazing place! Prix fix menu is the best and the testiest deal in a town. Chef Boulud was there and it only added to the experience.
Food is very good
I want to speak to people I’m with.
Pre theater experience excellent. Expensive, but we knew that going in. All aspects of the experience met expectations
Quite loud sitting in bar as back main dining closes at 10pm so limited seating choices post-theater
I've dined at db Bistro Moderne many times, and it's always superb in every way -- food, service, and the tranquil, contemporary setting. It's my go-to pre-theatre restaurant.
Great experience; our waiter really went above and beyond.
Your famous for the burger ? The stale bun and mediocre French fries are part of that reputation?. Let me know if the manager actually brings this up at your weekly meeting chef. I expect so much more from you. $34 for a hamburger that you’re famous for should have a fresh bun not a “crusty “ bun and French fries that are house made. Really sub standard and really disappointing. I will find another restaurant in the theater district I used to love Daniel. It makes me sad
A perfect place for pre-theater Sunday Brunch. Very welcoming, excellent service, and wonderful menu!
Everything was delicious. The corn cavatelli was best we ever had!
Excellent food and the pris fixe menu is a good value. I have never had a bad meal from a DB restaurant and this one did not disappoint. The table went silent as we all savored our meals. We tried the steak frites, Saint Jacques scallops, the halibut and the salmon. All were excellent, and perfectly-sized portions.
Great food and service. Will definitely return the next time we are in NYC.
The recommendation would be for the quality and integrity of the food and the ambiance of the dining room. The service was very good but lacked the energy of his other restaurants.
Fabulous brunch menu, excellent service. We had a great time and I will definitely be back!
This has been our go to restaurant when in Manhattan. It never fails to be a dining experience and treat for us when in New York. The service is second to none and very helpful when choosing items on the menu. Just a wonderful experience!
Once again the meal and service for lunch were outstanding. I had escargots, halibut and the Tart Tatin with a glass of wine for a very reasonable price. The food was very well prepared without heavy sauces and the service was personal, polite but warm and friendly. Never a cold, uncaring atmosphere at DB. Kudos to the whole team for a very consistent , professional experience. I have never been disappointed.
Food and service was terrific.
Great place for pre-theatre.
We had a fabulous evening in this modern take on a Bistro in central New York. The food was fabulous; the $60 fixed price three course menu allowed you to choose from the whole a la carte menu. We had some really good food; the service was attentive without being intrusive and the cocktails were great. I could have spent the evening just watching Pammie, the female bartender at work. Really great food in a lovely atmosphere without being pretentious. Highly recommended.
Enjoyable every time. Staff is great, service is great, food is great. We met pleasant dining companions at the next table and just love the place.
Excellent as usual
Lunch was fantastic. 11:45 reservation gave us enough time to make it to a 2:00 matinee. I like to try new things and I found amazing dishes. Started with chilled cucumber gazpacho that was so delicious garnished with sweet pickled cucumbers. Had cavatelli with corn sauce topped with grated cheese - so good. Ended with a delicious poached pear dessert with chocolate sauce and icecream. (Small, but amazing). My friend enjoyed her salad, halibut main course. Decor is nice. Service was excellent.
I want to go back for dinner.
Excellent service. Very good food. Varied menu. A good value. Stylish decor. Some good, reasonably priced wines. Fun desserts. Always a pleasant dining experience.
This was our first visit and certainly not our last. The service was outstanding, the food presentation was excellent and delicious.
We arrived on a Sunday immediately at opening. Service was prompt, attentive and the food was great. They even asked if we needed to leave at a certain time, like for the theatre. We did and were done at the time we asked.
This is my second time for brunch. Drinks are creative . Nice combination of breakfast and lunch items on a price fix . Pricey but what isn't in NY. I liked that they could modify items to be gluten free. The servers are very knowledgeable about the food and attentive. Especially likes the smoked salmon tartine.
db Bistro is exceptional run from the food to the staff. I has never failed to be near perfection
Excellent food and service with a good wine and bar list. I had the apple, blue cheese walnut salad and excellent halibut for the main course.
We went for a pre-theater dinner. I had made reservations a few days before. We were seated in the bar area tables where the tables were squeezed together. It was a little uncomfortable being so close to the people next to us.
For the food, we had the escargot as an appetizer and my daughter and husband order the famous “DB” burger which sounded amazing and I ordered the halibut. The appetizer was and the halibut was cooked perfectly. My husband enjoyed his burger but my daughter did not. In the description there was no mention of mustard in the burger. It had a very strong taste and for someone who doesn’t like mustard it made it that much worse. We had waited a while for the food so by the time we got it, we didn’t tell the waiter about the mustard to try to reorder it because we would’ve been late for our show.
For the value, I expected more from the food. Also, I would’ve preferred to sit in the dining area. It felt like they squeezed the extra seats in.
The food was outstanding and we were impressed by the pix fixe menu. Unfortunately we were left with a feeling of being ripped off when we received our bill and saw the drink prices. $27 for a martini, $19 for a shot of espresso, is outrageous even by NYC standards.
Excellent service, delicious food, and a great birthday surprise.
So many places in Manhattan where they do everything right and this is certainly one that consistently fits that description for food and service. This time there for a quick brunch with visiting out-of-town family and everyone loved the selection, their choices and the attentive and professional service, always happy to accommodate all requests. You cannot go wrong here.
Wonderful staff from the Maitre d to the waiter. Melt in your mouth Steak frites and the delicata squash was delectable. Great restaurant. Not stuffy. Friendly. Comfortable.
Terrific coqavin and escargots.
Great curated wine by the glass.
Luis and our Sommelier made it a most enjoyable evening. Scallops and Duck were top notch. Great room. Terrific ambiance. Smart staff. Great cocktails.
DB Bistro is consistently delicious and a pleasure to visit. The food is superb without being precious. The prices are reasonable. I love it.
Definitely would recommend. Warm, delightful, great food, personalized service. Exceptional!
Our brunch was excellent, as well as the service. Food was excellently prepared. Only downside was person on their phone at the table next to ours.
Every food item was delicious. The burger was the best I’ve ever had!
Great after theater place. Great food, great service.
