Chef Daniel Boulud’s db bistro moderne is a contemporary French restaurant, known for chic bistro cuisine. The menu features updated bistro classics with a modern twist and market-driven French-American cuisine, alongside traditional French specialties and seasonal dishes showcasing the Greenmarket’s finest produce.

Located one block east of Times Square in New York City, db bistro is the perfect spot for pre- and post-theater dining, a Midtown business lunch or breakfast “à L’Express”.

It was here that Daniel Boulud launched the gourmet hamburger craze in 2001 that took the world by storm. The DB Burger, stuffed with red wine-braised short ribs and foie gras, continues to be a main attraction.

Our handsome bar area features a seasonal menu of dishes that can be enjoyed with exceptional wines and cocktails.

Classic over rated NYC restaurant. Overpriced, quality of food just average and service was indifferent. For example, we were a party of 3. The first 2 arrived and were seats. My wife arrived a few minutes later but was not told we had already arrived. She waited in the bar area. No one told her we had already been seated. No wifi, so texts did not work. When she was finally seats, we were ignored for 10 minutes. Then a single glass of wine took another 10 mins to arrive. The food was just okay. Nothing special but paid $100 per person which included two drinks, one dessert. Very noisy and crowd was old and uninspiring.
Too many great restaurants in NYC. This was nothing special. Our second trip here. With such great reviews we expected much better. Won't make that mistake again.

Wonderful meal as always very consistent. I was disappointed that there was no gluten free bread which they usually have on hand but in its stead the chef sent an appetizer of Shishito peppers which were delicious.

The food is exceptionally delicious! We both had the foie gras and filet mignon... Amazing! And the chocolat fondant for desert. The wine list is extensive with something for every budget. We had a delicious Côte du Rhone. The service was courteous and attentive. Everyone went above and beyond to accommodate my gluten intolerance and other allergies. The decor is modern, warm and welcoming. Definitely a great choice before or after the theater.

We had dinner for 5 just before attending an evening show on Broadway. The food was exceptional and the waitstaff highly professional. This is our second visit to db Bistro moderne and I know we will be back again! I recommend it highly.

Had an excellent Sunday brunch with my mom before a Sunday matinee. One of the few places in midtown you can actually have a conversation. Service was professional and attentive yet personal and friendly. Food was beautifully presented (beet salad was a standout). The passion fruit pavlova (on the prix-fixed brunch menu, but available a la carte) was one of the best desserts I've ever had, and I'm not such a dessert person. Only downside was it was a bit pricey (and more expensive than the menu posted on the website) but it was still better than other meals that I've paid more for. Will definitely be back!

Reserved for a pre-theatre dinner. Our waiter asked if we were headed to the theatre, what our curtain time was, and which theatre. He timed it perfectly so we had plenty of time to finish, pay, and walk the block to the Belasco before the house opened. We had eaten a late lunch, so neither of us felt able to take advantage of the prix-fixe menu, but all of the items on the prix-fixe are also available a la carte. This made me very happy, since I wanted the lobster salad. Which was delicious, as was the assiette de fromage for dessert. My husband loved the scallops and his dark chocolate chiffon. The dining room is a little loud, but most people should be able to hear their companions. We will definitely return.

Good food, nicely appointed place, thoroughly indifferent service. At this price point you should spend your money elsewhere.

found this restaurant to be way overpriced. From the appetizers ($24 for 3 ravioli) to the wine - even for New York, it was price prohibitive. Food was not bad, service was okay too.

The pacing of the meal was awful. We were more or less rushed through our meal with one course following immediately after our plates were removed. What should have been a relaxing after theater dinner was a fast food experience.

While we usually avoid restaurants close to the theater district, we were pleasantly surprised. Located on W. 44th Street the neighbors include multiple hotels and private clubs. We opted for the Restaurant Week Menu. We all tried different options from the 3-courses and all were good to excellent. The restaurant offers a nice combination of upscale food and service coupled with a more casual atmosphere. I personally enjoyed the Hanger Steak starting with the Kale Salad. My wife, the Sole starting with the Lobster Salad. Were excellent. For all 4 of us, first time visiting the restaurant and will definitely return.

I ordered the Dover Sole á la Carte, going going off the Restaurant Week menu. It was priced at $60 additional. When it arrived it was less than 4 oz and was over cooked as well. I have been many times to the Bistro but this time I feel we were really taken advantage of. I regret not complaining at the time but we had a guest with us and did not want to spoil lunch. Very disappointed.

It was ok, but pretty dull for an expensive choice. I've had as-good steak frites any number of other $ places amd $27 for a decent 5oz glass of Sancerre is just silly (and my mistake).

Service was pro.

Went for Restaurant Week dinner. Sizable meal with extras. The pasta was really good, but the coconut desert was superb. Was treated well by the wait staff even though I was a solo diner.

Ravioli was served only slightly warm. The other pasta dish was served hot. Solution: put the ravioli under a warmer or cover when transporting. Since it’s a thin pasta it will cool faster on a cold dish too.
