db Bistro Moderne Miami Ratings and Reviews
This is the second time I've been to DB Bistro Moderne and it was as good if not better than the first time.
The appetizer of risotto and black truffles was exquisite.
My mom ordered the duck confit which was just amazing, she was still talking about it till the next day.
Overall a very pleasant dinner with great service.
Now I need to bring my husband for the famous DB burger.
Meal was great, very nice selection of meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes, however was a bit too quiet for dinner. Restaurant was half empty as I assume it is more of a lunch venue given its location. Server was fantastic and everything tasted good.
I have been at db Bistrot in Singapore a couple of times and indeed the food is already great from West to East. The design of the restaurant, the service is always at the top.
I would highly recommend it for business meals because it's quiet enough to talk with your clients / providers.
I've dined at other Daniel Boulud restaurants and have always had a good meal, expertly prepared and delicious. On this occasion, I ordered an entrée special for the evening, the Trout Almandine, a classic French preparation that demands a deft but quick hand. After taking our time with the two appetizers (both very good) we shared over conversation, our entrees were served. I found the trout to be dry, barely warm and over salted. I was looking for the nutty brown butter flavor of a sauce, but it was not to be found on this plate. I feel that the dish was prepared 15 minutes before it was served. I should have sent the dish back but I didn't want to appear to be an overly picky food snob. Now I regret it. I can only assume that Daniel Boulud's line cook was having an off night. The burger stuffed with foie gras, on the other hand, was perfectly executed. Everything else about the evening was wonderful. It's just a disappointment that this glaring mistake overshadowed it.
Wonderful food and a wonderful space. The manager and the hostess treated my wife and I so nicely, despite the fact that I was in violation of the dress code (I was wearing shorts and flip-flops). We were on vacation, and had made a last-minute reservation after finding this restaurant on yelp. In the most gracious way, they allowed us in as an exception to their usual policy. Our waiter continued the wonderful reception by his perfect service throughout our meal. But why should you go if the food is not good? The food was delicious, I had a perfectly cooked swordfish and my wife had chicken, which she said was exquisitely done, and each were beautifully presented. I can't say enough good things about Bistro Moderne!
Not up their usual standards. Also why put an 18 percent tip automatically on the bill for a party of two? We had no complaints about the service ( although one employer was in too much of a rush to remove our plates) but resent being told how much to leave as a tip.
We enjoyed a prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day 2017. Happy Hour at the bar was relaxed, a well-priced selection of drinks and apps. The menu was pricey but not unreasonable for a holiday, the setting romantic and comfortable, and the service was exceptionally attentive. Sadly, the food was just above average, consistent with banquet-style preparation: lobster medallions were overly cold and flavorless, competent but far-too-soft fois gras, very nice angnolotti stole the show, but the mains were sub-par - a chewy duck breast that had to be exchanged for a rewarmed Beef Wellington in a soggy crust, a rolled filet of sole that was dry and overdone - sigh. The meal was accompanied by optional matched wines, a thoughtful and pleasant selection of rather short pours, a final glass was ordered a la carte to finish the cheese..... Nevertheless, and being devout foodies, we still had a good time. Everyone worked hard to make it all right, and the positive attitudes mediated the average, disappointing food. A reasonable place to dine if staying at the hotel, but not a destination meal.
We were in a smallish room with quite beautiful decor, though rather intensely red which created a rather harsh environment. We were in a comfortable corner, but there was a large table of old friends gathered for one of the group's birthday. They were not excessively noisy, but couldn't help but be a little distracting. I'm sure they would have preferred being in a small private dining room.
The food was good; not memorable.
Db never disappoints. It's always enjoyable and a very lively happy hour. The oysters were delicious, beautifully served with nice dipping sauce. Our young lady server was terrific, service with a smile. My only hesitation on 5 stars is i would like to see more vegetarian options on the happy hour menu and a little less carb centric.
I was unfortunately not impressed with the food. Have eaten at several Daniel Boulud restaurants. The Coq Au Vin was burnt and the appetizers were cold and seemed pre-made and pulled out of the refrigerator. Would not recommend to others. However, the service was very good and the restaurant itself was very nice in its location and appearance.
Since we do not live in the U.S, our last visit to db Bistro Moderne Miami was 6 years ago. The service is much improved since that visit. Our server this time was attentive and did all the right things at all the right times. The food was good. We had the tarte flambee and the shrimp cocktail to start followed by the pompano and coq au vin. Prices were reasonable for this kind of restaurant, especially in Miami. The visit to our table by the Restaurant Manager was a nice touch; he was friendly and an interesting conversationalist but did not overstay his
welcome. Would definitely come back.
The male host was extremely rude. We were having a drink at the bar after we were informed our table wasn't ready. After about 10-15 minutes, the female host came to the bar to inform us that our table was ready. I asked for 10 minutes to finish our cocktails before we sat. She obliged. 10 minutes later the male host came over and said "come on kids, grab your drinks, we are going to your table" in an extremely serious and arrogant tone. I was actually stunned for a moment. I understand and appreciate the need to manage timing, etc...but he was way out of line. As a group we decided we weren't going to let this ruin our evening and remained open minded going into dinner. That being said the food was mediocre, at best, and the service was just OK. No one offered us a wine list and we continued to feel rushed throughout the entire evening. Lastly, it was expensive, which we expected but it was absolutely not worth it. My wife has been to the one in NYC and raved about it. If there were a couple of minor, NYE related, hiccups, I would give it another shot but not after the experience we had. Truly poor all around.
We love the DB Bistro for holiday dining. The special menus are always fabulous, and in pricey Miami, a great value. For New Years Eve we reserved the early seating and enjoyed a fabulous dinner with champagne and wine. As I vaguely recall, dessert was delicious! We will be back, for sure. Doesn't hurt that we live three blocks away! Our favorite fine dining.
I have been to DB twice once for their Christmas Eve pre-fix dinner and a second time for my birthday dinner of 12 people. Each time the food was great and the service was impeccable. They have an extensive wine and champagne list, who does not like great options? I recommend this place for a date, anniversary, friend's get together. The ambiance is intimate without pretentiousness with modern decor that leans towards the warm side and not cold feeling. Expect a great meal and a great evening.
Our party ordered multiple dishes to sample. Nothing really captivated our taste buds. A regular bistro like experience. Cocktails were ok. Desserts were ok too. The risotto with Italian summer truffles had no aroma or taste of truffles. Db burger was not as expected just ok. Le coq au vin was pretty good. Will not be back as nothing was memorable.
