In 1985, at the young and ambitious age of 24, Steve DiFillippo purchased a locally-owned family restaurant called Davio’s on Newbury Street in Boston’s trendy Back Bay. As Boston’s culinary tastes evolved, he transformed the location into a destination. He retooled the menu, the space, the wine list. The new Davio’s soon garnered rave reviews.
The idea behind Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse was simple, regional Italian foods with a focus on the grill.
Everything made by hand from the best ingredients. Serve everything from aged steaks to simple-yet-unique pasta creations. Mirror this philosophy in the kitchen with our expert and attentive staff in the dining room, seeing to your every need and taking pride in your enjoyment of the meal. Davio's has since opened locations in Philadelphia, Foxborough, MA, Atlanta, Chestnut Hill, MA, Lynnfield, MA and Manhattan.

Wonderful food and best service! We had a lovely pre-theatre dinner!
This is a chain but you would never know it. Maitre d Shawn is a class act. Great service, food, wine! I will be back. Thank you for a great time!
Absolutely amazing food, drinks & staff !
Really nice place, they offer excellent steaks. Salads are huge and tasty!
Just went to Davio's for the first time. Was so pleasantly pleased with my experience! The ambience of the restaurant is awesome. The service and food also were wonderful! The egg roll appetizers are unique and delicious! I had a filet and my friend had scollops, both were cooked perfectly and delicious!! Cant wait to go back!!
Magnificent service and outstanding food. Our favorite place to visit in NYC. So many delicious gluten free options it’s hard to choose and I love it!
The sample of spring rolls is always a must. Farro salad was delicious and my partner always gets the pasta Bolognese. We shared a chocolate mouse, absolutely delicious and bottle of Eight Years in the Desert.
Although my wife and I visit Davio's throughout the year, we've made it a tradition over the past 6 years to eat here on Valentine's Day. It seems to get better with each passing year. My wife, although never a fish eater when we met, loves Halibut and Davio's does a great job with it. Starting with the spring rolls, the grilled asparagus, buttermilk mashed and salads were the best compliments to the Halibut. Then came the chocolate mousse cake! Wow! Our waiter Brian C. was the best. He is very attentive and always knows when to approach your table and when to not. His suggestions are always on point. He knows his stuff! If you're a wine drinker, try the Davio's wines. Great selections. Thanks again Davio's. We'll be back!
Service was great, but my filet was tough, not much flavor, my husband’s was very soft and flavorful so not sure why they were so different. Lobster was cold in bisque, maybe it was supposed to be but would have been better warm. Staff was great. Food could have been better.
It was good.
The homemade pasta was the star of the night. Highly recommend.
Our group wanted to be able to discuss and enjoy a good meal together. I chose Davios because it has such a good reputation. I wasn't disappointed. We were treated well and the staff knew exactly how to give us our courses and anticipated our wine and appetizers. We were very happy with the food and the quality of the service.
I will definitely go back for another splendid experience. The host, Shawn was so polite, cheerful and willing to please. He is an asset to the restaurant.
Would absolutely recommend Davio's- Manhattan to a friend and would definitely come back again when in NYC.
The restaurant menu was good. But the food was not even hot. It appeared that they mass produced it and was not made fresh. I didn't order food from the restaurant week menu and the food was fine.
Food was very good as was the service. We showed up more than a half hour before our reservation and still were seated immediately. We lingered over lunch for close to two hours and never felt unwelcome or rushed. True no one was waiting but the restaurant was full. While the restaurant is not inexpensive, the food is very well prepared, plated and presented. This was not my first visit and I continue to be more than satisfied and do recommend.
I enjoyed my Restaurant Week dinner, and the servers and wait staff were attentive and accommodating. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to others!
Wonderful evening with a friend passing by and catching up! The noise level was exactly what we were looking for so we can talk and catch up. Near my office so will definitely make it my new go to place. Food and service superb.
Would recommend and will be going back - great time.
This was my fifth experience with Davios, and obviously I like it very much and have dined here with five different companions! IThe menu is expensive, I think, so it's always a special occasion when I am at Davios. But I have introduced Davios to several people.
We ate from the restaurant week menu choices and I was disappointed in the way the Branzino was prepared and the slim pickings on the plate. The starter salad was very very nice! and the goat cheese dessert was ok
I was disappointed there wasn't a French Sancerre in a bottle of wine.
But as always, the service was warm and professional, and it was really delightful that our waiter presented the "birthday girl" with a nice piece of cake and a candle-quietly! She was delighted.
I will certainly be back, but I think I wish I had selected the chicken entree.
One of our favorite places . Great food. Friendly staff
Food was excellent!
Davio’s is conveniently located in midtown Manhattan and can be accessed by stairway or elevator (it is one level down from street level). White-cloth and silverware clean, the Restaurant Week menu features a salmon lunch entree that was nicely presented with artichoke and mashed potatoes. Prior to this we had a salad that was crisp and not over seasoned. Service was attentive and first rate. Davio’s is easy to get to via subway, bus, Metro North or foot and is about a 20-minute walk from Times Square. There is limited outdoor seating on the street level and patrons are separated from passerby with a fence.
Definitely recommend Davio's. We had the special. Great value for outstanding food. The entire staff was friendly and our waiter worked extremely hard to insure we enjoyed our meal.
Our waiter, Christian(?), was absolutely fantastic as was the food. This is my second time.
Davio's Manhattan provided a beautiful anniversary and pre-Broadway dinner experience.
I do enjoy this restaurant and the service and food is first class. It is too noisy for a meaningful discussion and too pricey! Dinner for two glasses of wine ( small pour) one appetizer, no salad, one potato order, 2 entrees, no vegetables, 2 deserts and coffee $300 without a tip! Too pricey for this place.... but it’s convenient and I’ll be back ... grudgingly
three steaks were over done. short ribs were too salty.
Amazing experience overall. Such a lovely evening! We were treated like royalty.
We wanted an Italian restaurant close to Grand Central as we were coming in from CT. Davios was perfect. Very nice dining room. Service was very good and the food was great. Only thing: the restaurant is below street level so no views or windows.
Another fine dining experience at Davio’s. Brian, our server, was pleasant and attentive. The food was excellent as expected.
Food and service excellent. Several loud tourists nearby.
Great experience, service was excellent we felt well taken care of! Food was delicious, and great wine list.
Excellent night !
What a lovely evening! I thought my evening was going be a bit of a bummer since my plans were cancelled at the last minute. But wanting to step into 2020 with a new positive attitude I decided to treat myself, anyways. So rather than have a dinner for two as planned, I arrived alone opted to sit at Davio’s spacious bar. What a treat that ended up being. I had only planned a I stay for dinner but ended up staying all evening: snacking, eating and drinking my way through the menu.
Every bite was delicious, but what really took the cake (FYI, there was no /actual/ cake) was the lovely bar staff. I’m writing this review a two weeks after eating there, so I hope that I’m not mistaken, but Julia was excellent! She (and the rest of Davio’s staff) took my mood that evening from a 3 to at least a 7. What a delight.
Came for the food, but definitely stayed for the people.
Everything was amazing! We were celebrating our anniversary and the restaurant left a little note on our table and the waiter brought out two Prosecco glasses for us to toast.
Food was delicious and the tiramisu for dessert was the BEST!!
The food was fab! The service was amazing too. Steak had a perfect seared crust, was perfectly seasoned, and was buttery-tender inside. My husband had the 10 oz. filet mignon with broiled sea scallops and I had the 18 oz. prime ribeye. As we ordered salads and sides, our waiter let us know when something was large enough for two share, which was thoughtful. We shared a plentiful order of grilled asparagus. We also shared a romaine salad with chick peas, bacon, and string beans. For dessert we each had a strawberry cheese cake "pop" -- cheesecake with strawberries on a stick -- and it was creamy good inside with a delectable white chocolate (I think!) covering. Finally, the bread basket was filled with flaky warm popovers! It's pricey (about $250 for two including two non-alcoholic drinks), but this was a special treat and it was worth it. It was my husband's birthday, which I mentioned; so, after dinner Davio's served a complimentary cake slice with lighted candle. I highly recommend Davio's for special occasions when you don't mind spending a little more for a great dining experience.
We made a reservation for the 7 fishes Christmas Eve feast which ended at 8. Our res was for 7:45. We were first seated by the kitchen in a dark spot away from the other tables. It was uncomfortably hot. Neither of us could stand it so we asked to move to a different table. When we finally were seated in the regular dining area we were told they ran out of the Christmas Eve dinner which was a huge disappointment and poor advertising and service on their part.
The food was in general okay. We enjoyed the raw bar and my husband enjoyed his steak.
The food was very inconsistent however, as my clam linguini was horrible. It was very dry and lacked flavor. For $30 at a steak and seafood place it was incredibly disappointing. I think most of the fantastic reviews are from people who aren’t familiar with real Italian food. We didn’t realize this was a chain when we made the reservation. The whole experience kind of ruined our Christmas Eve. I would not recommend this place. Don’t think it was good value for the inconsistent food and we felt cheated by the fact that they informed us last minute, after waiting forever for a table that they didn’t have the meal we made a reservation for.
We had a 7pm reservation on Christmas Eve. We were looking forward to the 7 fishes prix fixe they had been advertising but when we ordered, we were told they were out of it— already! They did comp us 1 appetizer and 1 dessert but it was not the dining experience we had anticipated.
