Located at the foot of Portland’s arts district on Monument square, Portland Maine David Turin, Chef / Owner moved David’s to this historic location in 1998. The restaurant is tastefully and creatively decorated update to the “Great Fire” surviving building which housed the presses for The Portland Telegram Newspaper at the turn of the century. The open kitchen allows diners to watch the creation of meals which feature the bounty of regional resources prepared without culinary boundaries. David’s cuisine has one foot in tradition and another in the contemporary influences of many of the world’s great cuisines.

Nice outdoor space with heaters. We were the only party outside so it was quiet. They have large portions and all dishes were excellent. The table's favorites were the haddock and the ahi tuna. Calamari was great - lightly fried. And the cheesecake was very good too.

Our third time at David's. Weather was miserable but once inside it was warm and comfortable. Covid inlace but the staff made everything appear normal. Can't wait until our fourth event!

I don’t often have lunch at David’s, usually dinners. I have been visiting David’s since David opened! Every visit has been a delicious and great experience!! I highly recommend the meatloaf particularly!!! This is the best restaurant in Portland, in my opinion!

The calamari was amazing, the four of us decided it was the best we have had. Greek style which was delicious. Our entrees were fantastic, well prepared and everyone had a great meal. The desserts were also outstanding. The draft beer selection could have been better, I was looking forward to something from Lone Pine or Bissel Brothers. Service was excellent, very knowledgeable and friendly folks. We can’t wait to visit Portland again and have dinner at David’s.

David’s restaurant is my favorite place to eat in Portland. The food is prepared to perfection. I love that there are vegan and vegetarian options! I would recommend this restaurant. We had a quiet table in the back. It was lovely!

We've been to David's a couple of times, twice outside with the Pandemic. They have heaters, which we were able to feel and kept us comfortable when it wasn't windy. My favorites on their menu is the crispy brussel sprouts, calamari, and beet salad. For entree's i've had their duck and the filet and have been well-satisfied with both. Great food with outdoor seating.

Potato and bacon pizza was delicious. Tried blackened scallop and shrimp entree that was really creative and good. Server was excellent! Personable and attentive.

I had the Pepper crusted Ahi with asparagus & cold soda noddle salad . Fantastic the best Ahi I’ve ever had and then for desert I had the chefs ice cream 3 scoops of chocolate brownie with Kula and Bailey’s yum!

We were the only patrons seated in the front, next to the kitchen. We were treated to hearing several waitstaff's extended personal conversations with each other. This occurred several times during the course of our meal. We were not impressed with this lack of consideration.

David’s was a wonderful experience! The food was fantastic! Fresh and delicious! For dessert they wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate on my plate. I would highly recommend trying David’s. Add it to your bucket list.

While the atmosphere is pretty low key and down home, the wonderful food and service is top rate. The roasted Brussel sprouts were the best I have ever had! The seafood dishes were incredible., The desserts could not have been better, and the wine selection was excellent. Thank you!

Food? DELICIOUS. Service? SOME OF THE BEST EVER. I'm a server/bartender at a local dive bar/pub and to go out and have a delicious meal is incredibly special. I didn't get our server's name, but he was an absolute gentleman. Kind, attentive, and made the perfect reccomendations. I really enjoyed the mussels, garlic knots, duck, and ice cream. What a perfect way to celebrate an anniversary. I will be coming back in the future without a doubt in my mind.

David’s was very conscientious about following COVID restrictions; there were only four other small tables occupied in the room.
Service was attentive and the food, as always, was excellent: yummy garlic knots, freshBangs Island mussels, baked haddock, and Portland steak cooked to perfection. Too full for dessert but they sounded delicious. A nice evening out.

Fantastic is all I can say! Had the Lobster ravioli in Sherry cream sauce. It was done perfectly the sea food was a great compliment to the pasta!

We loved the decor in the restaurant and had a seat near the window. The truffle fries were to die for. The service was awesome. The only downfall is that it was a little bit expensive, but it was a perfect spot for a Saturday lunch after walking around downtown Portland.

This restaurant is a gem. We came here for lunch one day after finding it on TripAdvisor. We with started with the Caesar salad with lobster appetizer. We split this and it was more than enough for an appetizer. For our entrée we had the lobster ravioli which simply amazing. This dish was just so unique and tasty and if you love seafood I highly recommend this dish. In addition to lobster there were also scallops and shrimp. A must have is the garlic knots.we ordered this for dipping.. unbelievable! One person in our party had the clam chowder appetizer and sirloin for his entree, both of which were also outstanding. We cannot wait to return. Kudos to the chef for an outstanding and memorable meal.

The food was absolutely outstanding: My wife had the lobster ravioli with shrimp and scallops, which was overflowing with seafood and was truly delicious. I had the duck, which was done just right, complemented by excellent risotto. All this with a glass of wine each and individual sinful desserts came to $100 before tax and tip. It was a deal!
