Excellent food, great service but a bit too too rushed. Would have been much better if we could have had more time to get through the courses.
Very enjoyable and I will be going back!
Absolutely delicious! Great food, wonderful service. We went for a special birthday and had a wonderful night. We will be back!
Our favourite restaurant in Melbourne- great food great ambience- all good
We loved the atmosphere. The foods were also great. Another good thing about this restaurant is they accept BYO wine, so I brought my favourite wines.
The Yum Cha was excellent with some really good gluten free options. Service was very attentive and the food kept coming at a brisk rate
We have had family Yum Cha catch ups at David’s over the years and thoroughly enjoyed every occasion. This Father’s Day set menu Yum Cha didn’t
match our other experiences. Service was slow for drinks and the range and quantity of food limited.
We had the all you can eat menu and the dishes just kept coming. Amazing food, great staff and lovely experience overall!
Fantastic yum Cha, the food is amazing and there is plenty of it - only advice would be to go to the later (1.30pm sitting) as at the 11.30 session there is so much food and they bring it out quite quickly to get you out for the second sitting. So later sitting would be far more relaxing!
This was my first time to David’s & it was for a special occasion - as I stated on our booking & the staff couldn’t be more accommodating & sincere - the service is really on point & naturally given , very good vibe throughout the restaurant . Then there was the food - which I consider myself as well versed in this area & it was above & beyond simply amazing . Thankyou David’s for a memorable evening - will recommend to everyone .
Loved everything about this place, and can't believe I hadn't even heard of the restaurant before. Will definitely be coming back again, the food and service was incredible. The restaurant had a relaxed vibe and we weren't rushed through like you normally would be with a lot of restaurants in this area. Love love loved it all.
The vegetarian options were very limited and came out at a different time from the meat
We have been for yum cha here 3 times in the past 18 months. We love it so much and rave about it to everyone. This visit I noticed some menu changes for instance the steak wasn't on the menu and instead of there being 4 dessert options there was only 3, I think with custard buns no longer being served which is a pity. Our table was accidentally not served the eggplant and we had to ask for it. What I love about here is you can ask for extra of your favorites. By far out favorite yum cha ever
It was very ordinary compared to the hype. There were far too many of the same dishes coming around. Desert was very disappointing. Couldn’t see significant difference between this “shanghainese” cuisine and any other yum cha except there were no egg custard tarts for dessert.
The wait staff were pleasant and that was the only stand out feature.
Just a few constructive comments to make any future experience better: If rice could come before all the dishes that would be great. And if a dessert could be incorporated into the banquets that would be wonderful. Everyone was gutted to not have a dessert included at the end.
I loved every bit of it EXCEPT - very very noisy. Very difficult to hear across the table. would definitely recommend to friends though
One of my favourite Asian restaurants in Melbourne & didn’t fail to deliver again. Dim Sum, Pork Belly & Wagyu Beef outstanding. Super friendly & helpful staff.
Great ambience and wonderful staff. Food choices were good. Chicken was well-cooked, bust slightly cold. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a quiet and fancy date night.
Highly recommended restaurant!!
Always totally consistent and since change of menu a few months ago and only pity you reduced your range of dumplings ... it’s value is great for the quality and byo most nights is a winner.
There is no denying that the produce used in the food was fresh and of a high quality, the price point on the other hand was way over for the portions and dishes presented.
I had to rearrange my booking time a little before the scheduled time and they were very accommodating even as the restaurant was very full.
The food was very tasty and the service was very attentive. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
They bring you in with the $45 yum cha all you can eat price, but then the drinks are expensive. And they try to fill you up with cheap plates (noodles etc.) before bring out the plates you actually want - Peking Duck is left till 2 hours after you sit down.
sensational time perfect for any occasion food was spot on!
So happy that we were finally able to try the Yum Cha. Had friends visiting from interstate and they were absolutely blown away by the quality of food & service. Looking forward to returning!
It was a fun experince. I'd come back again with bigger group.
Delectable food. A little noisy but the food more than makes up for it,
Went there for the first time and we booked for yum cha. Excellent value for money. The staff were welcoming and informative explaining how it all worked which we appreciated and the food was delicious. Would prob skip the noodles n fried rice and load up the other yummy stuff. Def coming back!!!
A twist to the traditional yum cha experienced. Very refreshing.
Great lunch and such a beautiful building. The service was superb and food was very tasty and we rolled out of there after eating way too much.
Probably regret eating the filling bread and dishes at the start and not being able to eat all the meals and desert at the end...
Worth a visit
Great yum cha & service - highly recommended
Must book though
While the restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere, friendly waiters, and timely service, the food is probably the crux of why I wouldn’t recommend it. I was highly looking forward to the experience but found both myself and my partner disappointed, especially with all of the dumpling dishes. The skin of the dumplings were thick, doughy, and made me feel almost ill with how much they dominated the textural feeling inside the mouth. They ironically and genuinely had the worst xiaolongbao I’ve eaten in YEARS and couldn’t even keep the standard up to par with the cheapest dumpling institutions I’ve been to. I was also scandalised to know that basic Chinese tea wasn’t included in the package when the literal meaning of yum cha is to drink to. If you want a non-authentic experience that has some level of aesthetic appeal but hits zero on the palate, go right ahead.
enjoyed the occasion look forward to returning soon
The food was amazing, the staff were great and it felt like a nice change compared to a regular yum cha restaurant with carts. Great food - will definitely be back!
We’ve been to David’s before and loved it, so wanted to try their famous weekend yum cha. So glad we did - it was fantastic. The place was packed and the atmosphere was great, cool 80’s tunes playing in the background. Service was excellent, and the food was sensational.... and it just kept on coming! We were absolutely full when we left. So good. Good quality food at a great price.
Loved my visit to David’s! The service in particular was fantastic!
Cannot fault our experience there :) Everything was wonderful, particularly the food and service!
Saturday yum cha was amazing. Some old favourites like soup dumplings and spring rolls, and some delightfully different dishes as well. Service was attentive and friendly. Will go back.
Menu has changed 😔
Food wasn’t up to standard .
Was our fav restaurant
Absolutely love this place and come here all the time for weekend yum cha! Food is amazing and never seems to stop coming
