A wonderful restaurant. Great food, excellent service and a beautiful setting. We enjoy all our visits here and will be back soon.
The food is great and the service was as well, the atmosphere could feel more updated.
Food was yummy, service was good. Dessert was especially delicious.
From the moment we entered the restaurant I felt welcome. The waiter was particularly gracious and personable. He answered questions on the menu, but even as the room became more crowded, he did not rush us to order. We shared that we all were celebrating a milestone work anniversary and he brought a delicious treat to end the meal.
Each of us loved our entree, the pork chop, the scallops, the chicken, and the bacon fries were delish.
An all around fabulous experience!!!
Great dinner, we eat there at least once a week.
I had read other reviews, so I did expect more. The Bacon Clothesline was cute, but mostly inedible. The bacon was HARD so the pair of scissors supplied was necessary. Again, cute, but I would never order it again. The white sparkling wine was good. My burrata salad was so so. The burrata was excellent, but the frisee was burnt, not toasted. There was a dressing, but it tasted like apple butter, not much more. The sourdough bread was shaved thin and tasted old. Sorry, but the salad needs work. My husband got the cheeseburger and it was fabulous. There were only 2 people working so the service could have been a bit better.
The food and service were excellent. The hostess was very nice and at the same time very professional. Our server was also terrific. The food was tasty but I felt the portions were a bit small.
Awesome time at a banquet at the bar for a long, leisure, luxury lunch with friends.
Quiet place to talk. We asked for a Limeade, and the waiter did not know what that was, neither did the bartender! We settled for a Lemonade, which was horrible and we sent back. Ordered Ribeye medium rare and came out well done . Dessert was good fwiw
IT was an amazing experience. The manager was awesome and the food/ambiance was FANTASTIC. We will definitely return!
Enjoyed our lunch at David Burke Tavern. The special was a chicken, bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich with their unique sauce and was delicious. Fresh salmon was terrific. We are regular customers and have not had a bad experience.
We wandered in late one evening after looking at the menu and ratings on Yelp. We thoroughly enjoyed everything and the atmosphere was perfect for a late evening dinner and conversation. We’ll be back.
Very long waiting time for our order to be taken and equally long time for food to be served despite low attendance.
Great reviews ... but not sure how.
Place is well beyond its prime ... not very clean ... fair service, But bar tenders were more interested
In themselves than customers ....
food mediocre at best .... we tried the $135 steak for two ... meant to be a very special David Burke version ...
Guessing he has not had one in awhile .... was tough and tasteless .... in any case .... very much not recommended ...
And makes me wonder about all the other positive comments ...
This one of first negative reviews I have ever written ...
Best happy hour food and value! I have been here twice at happy hour, and had a fantastic meal at great prices. The menu changes daily and each thing I have tried has been excellent. Wonderful shrimp that you can order by the piece, a fantastic salad, lobster dumplings, french fries, and the most delicious roasted brussels sprouts. Last visit, my friend and I ordered the Baked Alaska. It was a spectacular presentation (see photo) and tasted out of this world. The setting is cozy and comfortable and the staff is outstanding. I will be back!
The meal was such a disappointment. I was surprised by the lack of diners upon arrival. It is the food. Our surly waiter give us a weird vibe. The angry lobster dumplings were good, but not great. The bacon on a clothesline was a clever and instagramable. The entree, the squash angliotti, was terrible. All of the ingredients was different temperatures and levels of over cooked and under cooked. A culinary mess.
I ordered the apple tart and it was mildly warm on the outside, and cold and sticky on the inside, as if the chef stuck into the oven for a minute or two and decided to go home. A bad version of a tarte tatin, without the caramelization, the flavor and the crust.
I am a big fan of David Burke's and have had great meals at the other restaurants.
Always want to share this great spot with friends or visitors to NYC. Great vibe, wonderful neighborhood spot, amazing food, drinks and service.
Upscale tavern, good food and attentive service. Not crowded so it was a nice relaxing dinner.
Our go-to restaurant whenever we are in the city. Food is exceptional and the service is fantastic. It never disappoints!
Never a bad meal. This was my first time for dinner on the weekend.
Love this restaurant. Great combination of ambience, food and service. Will come back...frequently.
The food was disappointing. I went there with my daughter for restaurant week lunch . We ordered 2 appetizers 2 main dishes and an extra lobster roll at the end nothing we ate was delicious. But the gazpacho was horrendous .
All in all a disappointment.i am glad we paid restaurant week prices at least .
We ate here during Restaurant Week and the meal with delicious. We both had the bronzino and were very pleased with it. My green salad was wonderful and I loved the sorbet dessert. I used to eat here when it was FISH and I must admit that I preferred its brighter decor to the dark clubby one that is now the Tavern. However, the service and the food were excellent and a good value for $42.00.
a real disappointment
Food was good. For a party of 13, I think place was good in terms of space and ambiance. Food came out very slow but was expected since we had large party. Waitress was courteous and gave recommendations for large party food ordering but when glass of water spilled all over my coworker and her phone, instead of grabbing a towel or something to help her dry off, she kept repeatedly saying while laughing “what’s the matter, are you scared of a little water?”
Fantastic 3 course meal during Restaurant Week. While every table was taken, it did not feel crowded and servers were very attentive. The downstairs bar area is much louder than the upstairs, so I would recommend reserving a table up, and you MUST try the poached salmon. Yum!
Meh overrated now in my opinion. Service was extremely slow and food was not worth the price
Every dish was wonderful
Fabulous meal and service... Highly recommend!
We dined here for RW lunch The service was phenomenal Upon complimenting the cheesecake lollipops dessert the server inquired from the chef about its preparation and shared with us the information Above and beyond the usual service we’ve experienced lately The food was superb and the atmosphere is great especially during the less crowded lunch time
We loved it! Our waitress was very friendly and efficient. The food was very good. We're planning to go back.
Had an Outstanding Lunch for Restaurant Week. Wish DB Tavern was open for lunch all year!
Very disappointing. I've always loved the David Burke restaurants and was happy to have one on the Upper East Side. The food was mediocre. The service was not what it should be. I asked several times to get bread and water without ice cubes and my requests were ignored.
Please note that my review has nothing to do with the food or servers. This is definitely the place to please your palate. I'm writing this review as fairly as possible because my intention here is not to trash the restaurant. In fact, it was my boyfriend's and my special place until last Sunday.
My issue lies in how they treated me after failing to take a large piece of plastic off of my tuna appetizer. When we pointed it out to them, they told us how sorry they were and what would I like to replace it. I chose the angry lobster (so good) and at the time the server commented that she would take care of us. To us, that meant that we would get something discounted from the meal. He's a chef and said that his restaurant would've comped the appetizer at the very least.
After that, the servers were very attentive and my crab roll for the main meal was amazing. We said that we didn't want dessert but the restaurant sent us a free cheesecake lollypop tree as a nice gesture. Most of it was left over because we were full and really didn't want dessert.
When the bill came (this was during restaurant week where it's $26 for brunch), I couldn't understand how the amount came to $74! Not only did they not comp us for anything, they accidentally added the $3 surcharge for the tuna. When we called the server over, she said that there was definitely a mistake and she'd be right back. I figured that she failed to comp us and that was the mistake. Nope. The next bill came to $71 without tip after the surcharge for the tuna I didn't eat was removed. (They add surcharges to most of the options so the price adds up.)
Again, no comp. When I called the server over to nicely tell her I was disappointed that the restaurant didn't take care of us, she erased a tiny bit more. It was like pulling teeth as we tried to have the restaurant do right by us. No pun intended but the entire situation left a bad taste in our mouths.
Everything was awesome, but Bacon and lobster dumplings were ridiculous. Great brunch spot.
We arrived at 5pm and had a cocktail at the bar before sitting down at a table in the bar area to have dinner. We ordered from the restaurant week menu and everything was delicious: crab cake pretzel and lobster dumplings for the appetizer, filet mignon for the entree, and creme brûlée for dessert. Everything was delicious and the service was great - attentive without being intrusive. We’ll definitely be back!
