It was difficult for some in our party of six to hear because of the high volume of the piano player. It might be best to move the piano a little further away from the dining area.
While waiting for dinner we went to sit in the soft seating area in the vicinity of the windows. Unfortunately what appeared to be breakfast food (partially eaten waffle, pastries, coffee cup, dirty dishes) were still on the coffee table - and it was 6:15 p.m. The area by the fireplace which was very comfortable, became available and so went there to sit.
My clam chowder had no clams. And to many potato's.
Our brunch was amazing!! Service was excellent, never a dirty plate on the table for long. The buffet is a must!! Turkey, ham and prime rib cut in front of you. Pasta station, egg station, waffle station. Breakfast items along with a huge cheese display. Shrimp and oyster area and then hot food!! Italian, fish pork etc. Don't forget the dessert table if there is even room. The grounds outside are beautiful and its a delight to walk down to the beach area. It was worth my 2 hour car ride!!
Our first visit to Water’s Edge, and we will return. The grounds are beautiful, as are the views. The Sunday Brunch has so many choices, and there is definitely something for everyone. Small comment, the doors behind the Registration area, and the doors in the Women’s room are showing signs of wear and tear and should be refinished.
Although the setting and service was excellent I thought that the food, which cost $40.00 per person, was very average. This was a very poor value
Very nice room, great food and our waiter was very attentive. Would definitely recommend.
My first time dining at Dattilo was a great one. The food & services offered was great! This I never expected and hence reserved another visit in my mind!
I have eaten here several times before and it has been ok, but this time was extremely sub-par. Here's a run down:
-Service was extremely slow
-appetizers and salad came out in the opposite order as we asked the server to bring them
-I ordered one of the specials, which was scallops and there were horrible! They were extremely overcooked, hard, and rubbery, but since we were entertaining a customer, I just ate 2 and a side and called it a night. I didn't send them back.
-My boss ordered a separate glass of wine once we finished the bottle for the table and the server poured the new wine carafe into his used glass from a different type of wine.
-when we asked about using a food credit we had from the hotel (we were staying at Water's Edge), the restaurant acted like they had no idea what we were talking about. They sent several people over to ask for vouchers before just going and asking the front desk. That was embarrassing in front of the customer and other people. It wasn't worth the $30 credit that the restaurants should know about already.
-trivia was taking place at the upstairs restaurant (where we would have rather had been by the end of the night) which made it just a little harder to hear conversation during the dinner.
All in all, we will never eat there again on our return trips to this customer.
Amazing food, truly something for even the most discernible diner! Gorgeous water views upstairs and fast service for their spicy Bloody Mary!
Food was well prepared and the waterfront sunset view thru the huge windows was great. Service was spotty + sometimes confused. Prices were in some cases plus cher and dining room could be rather noisy despite the crowd being older + the room not full.
Excellent variety of delicious choices plus very fine service.
Waiter took a while to come over at first, food wasn’t that great.
We went for our anniversary. We hadn’t been there in a few years. The place looks in needs of renovation. The ladies room needed maintenance. It all looked a bit care-worn. We had a hard time getting a waitstaff to get and refill our coffee. On the plus side, food was quite good, although pricey.
Brunch is very nice except people are walking through with kids and bathing suits on. Took a nice elegant affair and cheapened it with out the cheap price tag.
Lots of noise and if there was music I don’t recall.
Brunch is a gracious affair and it was just too much activity in the lobby.
It should be in its own space without people traffic and sun bathers.
Food selections were spread out not crowded. Food selection was excellent. Loved oysters and clams on half shell. All food was expertly cooked and prepared. Of course the view was superb z.
Worse food ever. You would think such a beautiful place would invest in their food that they serve. Such a disappointment.
We enjoyed a great meal in a relaxing setting. Getting the first drink was a little slow for very few people inside that night. Overall we spent 2 hours mostly by choice, a very nice place to dine.
Wonderful resort but dinner was awful and over priced for what we received.
Food was very good, our waiter was great but the service was extremely slow. Took a long time to get a drink and our food.
We were excited to go for brunch on our 18th Anniversary! But we left quite disappointed. The whole operation seemed extremely disorganized. They were clearly understaffed. It was our first time there and it took a good 5-10 minutes for someone to come over and offer us a drink (with no menu) and then no one told us we were supposed to just help ourselves... We kinda just figured it out by watching others. The food stations were a mess and looked like a hurricane had come through. No one seemed to be monitoring the tidiness and many of the stations ran out of food... Although, the food tasted fine. Don't get me started on the valet situation...We were trying to have a special experience on our special day. We did not...I would not go back, nor recommend to anyone else.
The setting was spectacular. We arrived at 1:30 (buffet closes at 3) and had to wait for many of the dishes to be refilled. There was also a very long wait for omelets, crepes, and meat as one person was trying to cover four stations.
Poor service - food and no one had looked at the reservation requests for the day so all special requests were not fulfilled.
Very good food but the deserts @ $10 each was a little pricey
Brunch isn't our family's favorite meal. The problem is, one of us has a severe food allergy and has a hard time finding enough variety of dishes he *can* eat at most places. This was not the problem at Dattilo Fine Italian. The food was absolutely excellent: Fabulous variety, top quality, all delicious.
I was particularly pleased by the beef and turkey offered at the carving station, I haven't often found buffet beef to be so tender nor buffet turkey to be so moist. The sushi was also the best.
I do wish I could have given Dattilo Fine Italian five stars across the board, but what held me back was the service. Yes, buffets are self-serve, but it would have been more pleasant if the waitstaff had been more attentive about coffee refills. One reminder? Okay. But having to do so repeatedly?
On the other hand, our check was thrust upon us without our having to ask for it, and while we were still enjoying our meal. We felt as if we were being rushed out. Not the best ending to an otherwise enjoyable experience.
Nonetheless, we hope to return.
We have been regular guests at the resort for many years and have to say this was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in recent memory. Dining room was about 1/3 full. Almost two hours for dinner and we skipped dessert after waiting 20 minutes for a menu. As we were walking out another larger group was also complaining that they had waited 1.5 hours and still had no food. The table behind us waited 30 minutes for drinks. We also voiced our displeasure to several bewildered employees who did nothing more than stare at us with blank expressions. The food itself was great but due to the service we will not return.
The food was delicious and the ambiance was beautiful. The views were spectacular. I would highly recommend this restaurant to others.
Waiter thought pouring the wine into the glass from a 14 inches above the glass was a ‘highlight’ of his performance...odd. Food presentation was excellent but waiter was nowhere to be found when bread was brought without oil or butter.
Flies and more flies! Killed five at the table. Lamb was well done and the mashed potatoes were cold! Extremely overpriced. Fourteen dollars for house Merlot! Really? Peers were not too happy with their food too. Outside was beautiful, with good music. Get a new chef and do something with the flies. Flies in a restaurant is unacceptable. Paying a lot for food I should get the best. What a let down.
The food was awful! Steak was over cooked, lasagna was a plate of vegetable, gnocchi’s portion was so small, will never go back for food but would go back for drinks because the band, nick fradiani sr was there and was amazing!
Service was not great. Waiter didn’t check on us if we needed anything. Took a long time to ask if we wanted dessert. Table next to us waited 45 minutes to take their order.
Very pretty view and the restaurant itself is nice. However, service and the food are sub-par. I would urge management to better train its staff to be more attentive to diners. I was there for 90 minutes and my server checked on me once.
Made reservation for Brunch. Due to a traffic accident on the highway, we were 30 minutes late. We had called to tell them we were on our way and when we arrived the hostesses were very courteous and we were immediately shown to our table. Mario, our waiter was very nice as well. We began our lunch with Mario being helpful but not intrusive. The buffets were full, not hot, but satisfactorily warm and very good. We will certainly return in the future.
Disappointing! Appetizers were tasteless , entrees were poorly prepared and barely edible, not Italian...Each was covered with a large pile of greens for some reason. Veal parmigiana had only a small, dry piece of veal, no sauce, no parmesan cheese - had to order a side of marinara sauce to make it edible. Waiter had a very thick accent and difficulty with English, did not understand OpenTable award certificate which was a problem.
We had a similar experience there two years ago but decided to try once more. You would think a large resort like Water's Edge would hire a top Italian chef but from the quality and preparation of the food it is clear they haven't. Stick with eating bar food on the patio where at least you can listen to live music and enjoy the terrific view. We've eaten there for years - Damn shame!
We had a great server and the food was delicious. The ambiance could’ve been a bit better—only a few others were also having dinner in the restaurant and you could hear the trivia game going on in the adjacent bar.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area that enjoys Italian fine dining on the water.
Great Food and awesome setting, they were short on servers so service was a bit slow. Our waiter was very nice but was juggling to many tables. The food and view are worth coming back too.
Venue crowded and noisy with holiday guests and weddings. Food was very good and service was excellent. Tentive but not over bearing. Prices were appropriate for quality of food and service
Great view of the water. Very elegant dining room. However, the Sunday brunch buffet features just mediocre food. The Eggs Benedict were on untoasted English muffins, and were room temperature. The cut-up fruit was flavorful, but who wants to spend that kind of money on fruit? The desserts were also nothing exceptional, though the coconut rice pudding was good. The creme brulee was pasty. Unfortunately, places like this don't have to offer superb food, as they know the real draw is the water view.
I would highly recommend the lavish Sunday brunch. It was delicious in a beautiful setting.
My friend and I enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere and food at Dattilo immensely. It was a post 40th birthday celebration for me and a 43rd birthday celebration for her. I drove in from Westchester County, NY- we started the day with lunch followed by spa services. The Water’s Edge is a mesmerizing place and we both plan to visit again.
