The food was good but the injera was pasty and the food portions were small.
Service was good and ambiance was good.

My family goes here for special occasions because it is quiet enough to hear each other and the sharing of food is intimate. One of our kids is vegan so we get the veg. sampler and a meat sampler. It is a lot of food for 4 people. The meat one is very spicy and also has some vegetables. Often the owner is there and he is lovely to talk to . He goes on buying trips to Ethiopia to get spices that are better quality than what he can find here in the US. All or most of the wait staff are Ethiopian. The atmosphere is nice and crisp with white tablecloths and beautiful photographs of Ethiopia.

This is the 2nd time we dine at DAS. By far, it is the best Ethiopian restaurant we have ever been to. The food is excellent, the attention of staff constant but not overwhelming.
The wine list could be upgraded but everyone will find something to their liking.
And, for all this goodness, you won't break the bank!

Pretty decor in a ‘living room’ setting. All dishes are served in the traditional way which makes the experience less ordinary. Overall enjoyed the food with flavors ranging from spicy to very delicate. The only disappointment was a chicken dish . We were surprised to be served a small leg of chicken on the bone, not even a thigh. Difficult to eat without a knife, and hard to share as expected. Also a bit ‘cheap’ for the price. Fortunately, it was served with a delicious lentil sauce so it was not a complete waste. The waitress did try to talk us out of that particilar choice. Maybe it should be taken off the nenu.

Excellent vegetarian selection. We love their sampler. The atmosphere is much nicer than most Ethiopian restaurants with white table cloths, table candles, and quieter. And the staff are exceptionallly warm, nice and helpful! We love this place and come here over all the Ethiopian restaurants in town. Just off M Street at the edge of Georgetown. Street parking always seems to be available. Outdoor seating in summer and nice overflow seating on second floor.
