Excellent vegetarian selection. We love their sampler. The atmosphere is much nicer than most Ethiopian restaurants with white table cloths, table candles, and quieter. And the staff are exceptionallly warm, nice and helpful! We love this place and come here over all the Ethiopian restaurants in town. Just off M Street at the edge of Georgetown. Street parking always seems to be available. Outdoor seating in summer and nice overflow seating on second floor.

Das never disappoints – always wonderful Ethiopian food! The service is terrific: it's the only Ethiopian place I know where the staff makes it a point to automatically replenish your injera supply without you having to ask.

This place is a gem! We love Ethiopian food, and found the menu at Das to have more options than we are accustomed to. Food was delicious and a good price. The ambiance is lovely, if a little too dimly lit. We only ask that they improve the wine list (which is similar to other Ethiopian restaurants).

I went to DAS for a Saturday night dinner with my girlfriend, and even though we were very late for our reservation (traffic in and around D.C. ...) the staff was friendly and quick to seat us. We shared three starters and the vegetarian tasting sampler for two, and were more than pleased. The menu has tons of vegan options but also a variety of vegetarian and meat dishes. It was a lot of fun to eat with your hands, and everything seemed very authentic. For the quality and the amount of food we got the price was also very reasonable. We will definitely come again.

Great food, very pleasant service, lovely decor, great outdoor and indoor seating. I had the beef tibs which were wonderfully smokily spicy and flavoursome. Served on and with injera which were warm, fresh and awesome. I started with some lentil samosas which were pretty tasty too. Other tables had the vegetarian sampler which looked wonderful too, was quite jealous. Enjoyed a decent Ethiopian lager too which was a nice novelty! Perfect for pre theatre dinner - only a 5 min cab ride to the Kennedy center. Very attentive service too, lots of servers, all happy to explain the menu and help out!

Always one of my favorites when I visit Wash D.C. Great ethnic food with white tablecloths. The food was very good and the service was prompt. Not a cuisine you find easily in many US cities.

I HAD A BEEF PLATTER SUGGESTED BY THE WAITRESS, NOTHING SPECIAL, SALTY AND SPICY BUT REALLY NOTHING TO WRITE ABOUT. THE BREAD IS LIKE A CREPE WITH NO TASTE WHATSOEVER. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT UNLESS SOMEONE ASK ME SPECIFICALLY FOR AN ETHIOPIAN RESTAURANT

Our first Ethiopian restaurant experience, and a memorable one. The owner was attentive and very warm, yet not overindulging. The server was helpful in explaining the menu and interesting custom of using the "bread", actually a soft, pancake-like sourdough of a few grains, to grab the goodies off the plate. No utensils! It was a spicy, earthy, low-fat and hearty culinary adventure! I wouldn't miss it.

We had not experienced Ethiopian food before and it is amazing. Beautiful presentation, great tasting and complex flavors yet simple. The friendliest and most helpful staff we have ever encountered. And it is very reasonably priced. GO, you will be glad you did.

Server was very rude-- insisted that an item was a side dish rather than an entree; even though, it was listed under house specials (all entrees otherwise) below the entree heading began. Pointed out tiny print that there was a charge to split a dish. This was all fine except for the rude attitude and the insistence that things were clearly marked as such.

Food was pretty good, but find other Ethiopian places (Keren, Zenebech Injera) to be even better taste and value-wise. Nice setting and location, but not worth the rude attitude.

I chose This restaurant based on its location and proximity to the Kennedy Center, and because it looked fancy for a date. Though the service was nice the portions were small and the food wasn't very authentic. We did enjoy the outdoor seating when we weren't being interrupted by the street people, and at the end were pleasantly surprised to see the band we saw at the Kennedy Center had also chosen this restaurant for dinner.
All and all I would not return, nor recommend this place to anyone who is a custom to an authentic Ethiopian cuisine experience. This place was too flashy with the ambience, too watered down with the food and the fish was over cooked.
We tried and were left so unsatisfied that as soon as we returned back to NYC the following day we went directly to #Awash Restaurant uptown in Manhattan for a phenomenal meal with the best Ethiopian kitchen in the City.

Good find. Great location and parking is readily available, on weekdays. Food was good and the service was good too. My cousin, from India, wanted to eat Ethiopian cuisine and she was not disappointed. The decor is pleasant and the ambiance is really nice.

We first started with a giant bug on our table, which the hostess squashed on the table with a napkin. Additionally, the hostess was incredibly rude and pushy and tried to negotiate with us on how many drinks and entrees we had to order, which was much more than our table needed. We forcibly were made to order 8 entrees and feel bad about not ordering more and not everyone ordering alcohol. At the end, they told us that they required us to pay 18% tip, but when they calculated it on our receipt, they charged us 20%.

Their combo meal is not bad. I personally don't like the bread served here since it tastes sour. Maybe it is because it's a more authentic dish. Ethiopian's food gives a very interesting meal experience if you order the wot.

I have eaten here a few times and have enjoyed my experience in the past. This time though my experience was decidedly mixed. I wanted to substitute beef with chicken in my sampler (the same recipe) but I was told I couldn't do it. We ordered one sampler, 2 entrees and 2 appetizers for a party of 5. I don't think they liked that because both our entrees had a single chicken drumstick in each (these were entrees that cost over $15) and the drumsticks were dry and tiny. Very disappointing to say the least. Definitely did not feel like we got anywhere near our money's worth.

Although the hours posted is 11:00-11:00, we were notified they were closed at 10:20 and should hurry up with our meal. It was rude. When you advertise that you seat people up till 10:30, you can't ask them to cut their meal short because you want to go home. I used to work as a waitress and would never imagined being so unfriendly to customers.

The service was excellent, both in attention to our table and in recommending things to people who were unfamiliar with Ethiopian cuisine. The owner of the restaurant also made sure to speak to each table (and also make recommendations) and make the experience feel personal. The ambiance is very cozy and warm, and strikes the right balance between fancy and casual. The food was unique, amazing and filling, and I can't wait go back and try anything we didn't get to last time!

I thought the food was really oily and we had a beef entree off the menu and it was mostly carb- centric with very little meat. I forgot what the name of the entree was, but it was the bread mixed with beef. And there was next to no beef. Also, they should give you the option of silverware especially since the food is so spiced, that while I have no problem eating with my hands, it can easily get your clothes dirty and they should atleast offer silverware. The wait staff was so sweet.

Elegant, relaxed, and quiet. It has a modest but good wine selection. If you are willing to walk 15 minutes, then it is a good place to go prior to a show at the Kennedy Center.
