This was our second visit to Das and just like the first, we loved every minute of it! The staff was friendly and welcoming and made our larger party (plus one adorable baby) feel right at home. The food was absolutely fantastic and it was one couples first introduction to Ethiopian. They loved it and cannot wait to go back for more! Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone!
Oh, the food was delicious. I enjoyed the Beef Zilzil Tibs. The beef was spicy and perfect. My partner had the chicken sampler and he was very pleased with its taste. The service was attentive yet not in your face. We were very pleased with everything and will definitely eat here again.
Wonderful food. Best Ethiopian I've had in DC
I brought my girlfriend here to celebrate her birthday. The food and service was great. But what really was special was that the staff came out and sang happy birthday. It was a really nice touch!
Great dining experience for us on a special trip to DC. Food was excellent and super service.
Shocked by the filthiness of the bathrooms
Dinning at Das is always a pleasure. The host as well as servers always recognize returning customers and make you feel special. they also remember your favorite drinks and dishes. the service is excellent!
The food is also great - it authentic. We love the bread!
Our favorite dishes are Shrimp tibs and Chicken Doro Wat. We also love split peas and lentils that are served with the main course..
Always an enjoyable experience dining here. highly recommend it!!
I asked for a window-table, and booked 3 days in advance to ensure I could get one. Upon arriving with my friend, whose birthday we were celebrating, I was told it would be at least an hour before I could get window table. Instead, they sat us by the door where staff kept walking in and out to serve the tables outside, making it loud, hot, uncomfortable, and less intimate than what we had planned. The waiter had little to no enthusiasm, almost as if she was sleep walking. The bathrooms are EXTREMELY hot. I was in it for only 2 minutes to wash my hands, and I was literally sweating. They have a table fan on to help, but it just isn't enough. Moreover, the food was good, but nothing extra special to justify the higher prices when compared to other Ethiopian restaurants in the city; the same food for more money, basically. If they had other Ethiopian restaurants nearby (competition), this place would not be as popular. I would not go back nor recommend anyone to go. Overall, a bad experience.
Das was my first experience with Ethiopian cuisine -- about four years ago and I was immediately converted! It remains my favorite and I have tried many more both in DC and around the country. Friendly, helpful service is a highlight.
So flavorful that we ate here twice in one week. We had Chicken Infilay, Beef Kay Wat, Beef Tibs, a fish dish, and the Vegetarian Sampler.
All delicious. The owner and staff were delightful and professional.
Great food and service in the heart of Georgetown.
Super great find! Dining is family style sharing which was neat. Food was outstanding! Service was even better! We felt at home, at ease and happily full when we left. My family and I loved this restaurant.
This was my first time having Ethiopian food in DC, so I can't compare it to anything, but my experience was extremely pleasant! I would most certainly go back. The food was very tasty and the staff was welcoming and courteous. I would recommend this restaurant.
The AC was not working on the lower level when we arrived so we were ushered upstairs where it was cooler.
We ordered the shrimp and mushroom appetizers which were good: flavorful and spicy as they should be. However, we both felt that the vegetarian platter was lacking in authenticity. The flavor just seemed bland for Ethiopian food and we wondered if it had been " adjusted" for the American palate.
The service seemed less than enthusiastic.
All in all, I would say that this experience was ok but not great! I expected more from this restaurant since I was familiar with the restaurant from a previous experience.
The food was very good, the atmosphere was very conducive for enjoyable conversation, and the staff were very professional and attentive without being intrusive.
Highly recommend this ethiopian restaurant, the finest and cuttest in the area offering a service of great quality. My favorite place to eat in Georgetown without any doubt. To add in your bucket list!
Excellent location, friendly and professional service, lovely tasty Ethiopian food. Can't wait to go back!
The restaurant never received my open table reservation, but made accommodations
Great food, and friendly service. My new favorite Ethiopain restaurant in DC!
The food was good but the portions were really small.
I give Das a B-. The food and service are good, but not as good as other Ethiopian restaurants in DC. We're spoiled here with excellent Ethiopian food, so it's a little difficult to compete. Also, the bathrooms at Das seriously need to be remodeled. However, it's the best Ethiopian in Georgetown, so if your plans take you to Georgetown for the evening, this is your place.
Yummy food, cute place, pleasant service. For Ethiopian food noobs (like us), the chicken doro wat was a little hard to split because of the drumstick and boiled egg, but it was still delicious!
Some of the flavors were a little overpowering, but overall everything was delicious.
We had a table on the outside patio on a nice evening. Looking at others' reviews on OpenTable and Yelp, we asked for a bottle of Ethiopian merlot, the veggie sampler, the chicken and beef sampler, and the shrimp tibs. Our waitress was very helpful and had us try the two types of Ethiopian red wine they had. The food was delicious! The amount of food for the 3 of us was perfect.
Great find in Georgetown! Brings a healthy dose of delicious and diversity to the college / tourist run Georgetown.
I went to Das about 10 years ago and decided to visit an old favorite. It is just as delicious as I had remember. The service is great and the food is amazing. I am so happy to see that this restaurant is still thriving!
Awesome ambiance, food was authentic and service was top notch without being intrusive!
The food is always very good. We've give a few times.
Terrific, interesting and tasty food at the quieter end of Georgetown. Excellent service. Highly recommend, especially if you're in the mood for something different.
We have been searching out Ethiopian restaurants wherever we land in our travels. The food here was excellent, and we got the chance to try some new flavors that we hadn't experienced before. The waitstaff was attentive, and provided guidance on how to properly complement our choices. The presentation was attractive, and we enjoyed every bite!
It was delicious! Great experience! I definately recommend to everyone who wants to try something new
We really enjoy this lovely restaurant with its warm hospitality and service. The food is delicious, especially the vegetable dishes. If you are looking for a restaurant that is warm and inviting and you want to try something different this is the place for you.
Went here with a group of friends and family. Food was really nice and the waiting staff were really helpful, especially when it came to helping us choose our food. I am looking forward to eating here again
Total enjoyment! Lovely dining room, sweet & serious wait staff, delicious food!
Not the most flavorful Ethiopian food. This restaurant has great ambiance and service, but lacks in some of the spicier and more exciting components of some of the Ethiopian food I've had in Washington, New York, and Addis Ababa.
Das Ethiopian is a fantastic restaurant and I would recommend it to anyone that loves Ethiopian food, the spices are fantastic!
The food was excellent ! Next time I am in DC, we will definitely come back
Very nice and quaint place for a date or special occasion. Surprisingly affordable!
Great food. A bit warm inside though on a hot summer day. Didn't feel like the air conditioning was on.
