Das Ethiopian - Georgetown
I went to Das instead of other ethiopian places in U street or H street because it was described as an "upscale experience" ... But the only part upscale was the white table cloth (covered up by white paper). The service was a bit too lax... we went for periods with empty glasses and dirty dishes on our table for 5 which was only meant to be a 4 top... the injera was also not the large bread at the bottom of the plate. Rather, they were small rolled up pieces that looked like towlettes... But the most important part is the food... We ordered 3 appetizers and 5 main dishes. all the dishes seemed to lack one key ingredient, flavor. ... Everything seemed under spiced as if everything was being cooked for people from New England... It was a bit disappointing.
Excellent! Quaint, quiet, classy dining room in an old Georgetown townhouse. We had never eaten Ethiopian food but thoroughly enjoyed everything. Our waitress was great about giving food recommendations. Didn’t know that the plates are shared and you eat with your hands and a piece of bread, which was unexpected but fun!
I liked this restaurant very much. It was nice to have the opportunity for fine dining service at an Ethiopian restaurant. I liked the short ribs. Well seasoned and tasty. The atmosphere was nice, homey and comfortable with excellent service by the staff. Will have to return to try the lamb which was the other meal I wanted as well.
Great food! Our whole family loved it! Service had a little bit to ask for but was ok.
Perfect experience, outstanding food and amazing service!
Excellent food and service: bravo! My second time, travelling from overseas, a must have stop and a great reward!
Always the best!! You can never go wrong!
Very tasty food. This was my first try at Ethiopian food and I loved it. Much like Indian but with a smokier overall flavor. The atmosphere was casual elegant -jeans and a nice top is fine. It was festive but not loud. We could easily have a nice conversation. One thing that was problematic was the drink menu. It is black on a dark red background with small lettering and was very hard to read in the dim lighting. Overall a fabulous food experience, however. I will return.
Wonderful food, good service, seating was a bit tight, but worth it!
Great authentic food, responsive staff made for a memorable experience. Highly recommended for ethnic food in Georgetown
It was a good experience overall, the food was tasty
The food and service were fantastic. The owner was walking around talking to other guests. It was a really nice experience..
Main course and wine suggestion were very good, but dessert took longer to arrive than meal itself. It was also frozen and thus not very flavorful.
We had our office party there and were given the upstairs which was empty and thus quiet.
Our server was spectacular!- Personable, informative, attentive, and respectful of our time and privacy.
Couldn't have asked for better care!
Wonderful food wonderful atmosphere. We had a delicious meal and look forward to returning on our next visit to Washington.
great flavors, friendly and attentive staff; too much food! Lovely atmosphere despite slightly high noise level. Great place for a larger group to share food, but also nice for two
Close to our hotel (Fairmont) in Georgetown, it looked full of atmosphere when we walked past on a Saturday night. So we booked it for the Sunday.
Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Food however was distinctly average in taste even though it sounded quite exotic.
Unique food, great ambiance, and attentive service. The eggplant dish was our favorite.
Excellent service and great Ethiopian food. We were seated upstairs and it had a great vibe and was quieter than the main dining area downstairs.
Celebrated a friend’s birthday and the waitresses came out to sing with a free lemon tart :)
For our last night in DC we booked into Das to try something a little different and boy were we blown away. Great food good wine and friendly service at every step. I’d go back in a heartbeat given a chance.
Love their food palette
Great food, great service and great ambiance. Can’t wait to come back and try more items on the menu!
This was some of the best food I have ever had. Can’t wait to go again!!
Fantastic service and delicious food. Would definitely go back. Perfect for a date night.
It was a wonderful dinner and wonderful food. Will definitely be back.
We have walked by this restaurant many times and it’s always busy so decided to give it a try. The ambiance is lovely and the service is excellent. The food was good but not outstanding and the menu seemed somewhat limited. Overall we enjoyed it however and will likely return.
Wonderful experience. Service warm, knowledgeable, helpful. Food amazing. Ambiance warm and lovely.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The owner came by and had a conversation with us which was especially nice.
Excellent Ethiopian food and a great variety of it, as well. Quite vegetarian-friendly.
Every single aspect of our evening was perfect.
It was a wonderful dinner. Everything was delicious. Service was excellent. Attentive and unrushed. Made birthday celebration extra fun.
Wonderful food so many things to try. Highly recommended.
Simply sumptuous! A must sample restaurant for any visit to DC.
The place is gorgeous and the food beyond amazing! Owner was charming and sweet - will definitely return!
Very delicious food. Good service. Excellent price-value ratio. You should try it. Enjoy!
Great food, lovely service, nice choices for wine--my party had a great time!
The food was so good! Service was friendly and very helpful.
My first time having Ethiopian cuisine and I liked it very much! Hard to not get full on the rolls though.
Absolutely great eating experience. We split the chicken and beef sampler and the vegetarian sampler because we wanted to try a little bit of everything. All of the food was really good, especially liked the beef dishes in the platter. I've eaten some Ethiopian street food before, but this was first time at a sit down restaurant. Be comfortable eating with your hands using the Ethiopian bread, which they'll continue to bring out fresh as you need it.
