Wsitress was helpful it didntvseem busy but getting our food wad slow We had breakfast my toast was cold. Didnt feel was that hot warm not hot when served
Its nice for a visit but not someplace that would be a place i would want to go back to freq
Das Bevo is a unique restaurant that is exprcually fun to visit for beer or Sunday brunch. I would recommend Das Bevo for the excellent atmosphere, wonderful food and fair prices. The brunch burgers are the best I have ever had. Good to bring your out of city friends to visit or for a romantic brunch.
Sadly I had booked because we wanted to also see the Christmas market. When we arrived there were fliers taped up that said it had moved locations. While we may get past that, we had a horrible experience with the actual meal. We waited over an hour between ordering and actually receiving our food. There was a bigger group ahead of us, but half the restaurant was empty - so seemed those should offset. The waitress was kind and tried to give updates - but she had limited information. Once we received the food, only 3 of the 4 meals came out and the other was delayed even further. An extra side one of us ordered never arrived. Sadly the food was mediocre at best and in some cases cold (which made no sense). Unfortunately 2 hours of my Sunday that I can’t get back.
Loved everything about the restaurant, included the heavy accent on German foods. The only drawbacks were the sound level of the Muzak and the lack of flavor, or spiciness in the food.
Food pretty good, service excellent, just an interesting place to visit in general
We were a bit disappointed in the buffet. The turkey was good. The dressing was terrible. There was only one hot vegetable, brussel sprouts, not my favorite and the pumpkin pie was still a bit frozen and there wasn't any whip cream! Was expecting better.
Loved our thanksgiving meal there!
Great atmosphere and live music space!
Overall, our experience was a good one thanks to the cozy atmosphere and great music space downstairs. It was my first time to go to Das Bevo. The service was terrible and the food was mediocre, but the space was great and the live music experience with Kim Massie was fantastic.
I would recommend appetizers and drinks here rather than a full meal. I was disappointed in the food, but I will be back for Kim Massie's next show!
Best breakfast burrito I have ever had!!!
Although the service was excellent and the atmosphere was beautiful, some of the dishes could be improved. My sauerbraten was tasty, as were the sides and the sausage sampler plate was good as well. What we didn't care for was the German potato salad... overpowering vinegar taste and the apple pie with ice cream was bla and doughy. Get the Key Lime Cheesecake, it was excellent. Overall it was an enjoyable evening.
It was not a great experience this time around. There was a very loud obnoxious wedding going on right next to our table. We had made reservations due to the band, but then it was cancelled. The food came out cold and just ok this time. We've had great food experiences in the past. Perhaps the wedding party should've been downstairs if there was a DJ going on and you had already advertised that there would be a live band for the restaurant that evening. The wedding music was loud and hideous.
A St. Louis gem! Spectacular dinning rooms with original fixtures and art. Great food and a large selection of local beers
We were there for Harry Potter trivia night. After attending a fun Grease Sing-Along at Das Bevo, we thought this would be a hit too. Wrong. We were expecting a butter beer drink on the menu and themed food and were disappointed that it wasn’t. I ordered the mussels, which sounded great, but had zero flavor. I sent them back and ordered a chicken salad sandwich. Safe bet, right? No, it was the first chicken salad sandwich I have ever had where the chicken was dry and falling out of the bread because there wasn’t anything holding it together. Unfortunately the person running the trivia night was very ill prepared. He had wrong answers, no help, had to ask help from the attendees to check answers and it took 30 minutes between rounds to check the answers before starting the next round which made the night go way too late, especially for a weeknight. We decided to leave in the middle of the last round. We might attend another Sing-Along, but will definitely stick to what they know best - pretzels and burgers.
Great food and atmosphere. Due to weather band was brought inside and they were too loud - couldn't talk at table. Server was attentive at first however after we got our food she was hard to find.
Great experience. Food great, staff exceptional. Bobby and Constance the best!
Good food and service. The menu could be improved with more options.
Our server was outstanding! She really enhanced our experience with her friendliness and attention.
We sat outdoors away from the band and were able to talk comfortably.
Had brunch for Father's Day. None of us had been to Das Bevo yet and we hadn't been to Bevo Mill for over 20 years, so it was something we looked forward to seeing again. The atmosphere was great, restaurant looked beautiful, drinks came right away, our waitress was fantastic, and the food was wonderful -- once we got it. But it took nearly an hour to get our food after ordering, even though the brunch menu was small. Good thing we had some drinks....
Overall, I liked the brunch. However, the menu listed a "trio of cinnamon rolls" and we got one big one, even after clarifying that we wanted the trio as listed. My sauerbraten has was a bit too salty and did not have nearly enough asparagus or sauerbraten. It was mostly potatoes and the fried egg was overcooked. The pieces of asparagus were very small so really had no impact on the dish. The gin drink I ordered was really good and so was the coffee. I will try it again, but was a bit disappointed.
Friendly service and good food in a beautifully and authentically restored environment.
I was disappointed with my first (and what will likely be only) Das Bevo brunch experience. Upon arriving, the server & what I presume was a manager (in khakis and a button-down) were very curt with us. (We had seen the server smoking in the parking lot when we pulled up to park minutes before, which was kind of not cool, but whatever.) We were on time for our reservation, and had indicated we would need a high-chair for our toddler in our reservation notes. For reasons that were not disclosed, both seemed very put off by our request, and they had to scoot a table around in order to accommodate us, despite there being PLENTY of open space in the dining area....and we were just a party of 4. (We arrived at opening, so the restaurant was not full--there was no discernible reason for them to be put out or act like our request-- just for a high chair--was out of line.) Upon being seated, the server seemed rushed, and did not offer us a kids menu/crayons to us/our toddler. We ordered drinks and their "world famous" biscuits, and our meal. When filling our water glasses, the server poured about half a glass of water on the table, and did not clean it up, so we sopped it up ourselves with their awful paper napkins. The biscuits came out quickly, but they were cold. Flavor-wise, they were okay, but not great. Our four entrees took a *full 40 minutes* after our biscuits came out to arrive.
When our food finally arrived, without explanation for the long wait, everyone's plates looked good (slinger, schnitzel & waffle, french toast) except for mine--I ordered the pancakes, and received three of the most hilariously pale, flat, and flaccid 4" pancakes I have ever seen (for $8). They were laughably bad. The rest of the food was mediocre.
Had the manager not already made a bad impression on us and gotten fussy/rude when seating us, I would have requested to talk with him. Instead, we left, disappointed and out $80, and with no plans to return nor recommend.
My sister and I went to Das Bevo for Brunch to check out the food and drinks. The drink I had was amazing! (Zitrus Blasen). We got an order of the pretzels, the biscuits and gravy, and the Schnitzel and Waffles. We felt like the schnitzel could have benefited from a bit of heat in the breading (maybe some cayenne or something), but it was cooked perfectly, and the crunchy/salty schnitzel contrasted the sweet, soft waffle. The ambience was fun and funky, and I can see how the outdoor space would be fun, too. I would definitely recommend Das Bevo for brunch - and hope to be back to check out their dinner sometime soon!
Enjoyed our meal and time at Das Bevo. Service was slow, but there was several large groups there.
So happy to finally have a restaurant worthy of this great venue! The staff is exceptionally friendly. The German inspired menu is one of a kind and is delicious as creative. We visited for brunch- looking forward to visiting the beer garden soon!
Sat in the beergarden to watch a band. Great time!
Celebrating my goddaughter ‘s birthday. We had a wonderful meal. Our waitress Jackie was excellent.
I love that the Bevo has been so beautifully restore! Took a friend for her birthday to share the historic building and atmosphere. They were out of the one German wine on the menu and out of the Schlafly beer brewed for them. While our food had a good flavor, it was served cold. When we asked for it to be heated up, it was returned lukewarm! The leftovers were much better hot.
The food was good, however the service was very lacking. Had to wait forever for refills on our drinks. Food took forever to come out.

Nine of us met for a bday celebration. We had so much fun there. Kelsey, waitress, was amazing and very attentive to our large party. We spent more than 2hours and there were other people, but no one was waiting for our table. Great atmosphere!! Good beer selection!
It's novelty makes it a fun experience. But the food makes a repeat visit unlikely.
First time here. Very slow service. Had reservations and arrived five minutes early. Seated in a cold dreary “side” room away from the fireplace and bar. Asked to move to main cozy area, refused, said full tables held there only. Three of us. Over 25 minutes drinks to arrive. We watched those “full” tables (4 persons), stay empty out entire stay. We’ll do the bar or high tops next time, won’t bother with a reservation. Our server was cheery and friendly, just had a lot to manage, thus very slow.
The windmill building was an awesome choice to get a few pics outside and inside. Was a bit disappointed in the sauerbraten. The meet was fatty and the tast was flat. The other items we had were delicious!
While all the food was delicious, the pork snitzel did not have enough of the sauce/gravy on it. The Kraut Balls were amazing but the menu said they would be served with a horsradish sauce. The sauce was more of a dilled mayo. When I asked our waitress she said it was very mild dilled. Later a manager said if I had asked they could have added more horsradish...too bad the server didn't know that. The fish and chips with slaw and the roumalade served on the side were, bar none, the BEST I have had this side of the great pond and as good as what I had in London...nut you were out of lemon. The atmosphere was wonderful. But the service was very VERY slow. So don't go there if you are in a rush. On a slow Saturday afternoon for my birthday, it was relaxed. We had plenty of time for chat and remenessing old times and a bit of time by the beautiful fire place. Because it was my birthday, they provided a complementary slice of carrot cake. (Thankyou) It was very good but cold. The value for the money was excellant. We will go back. It is worth the drive.
I wish I could give NO STARS. We went here for Easter Brunch and it was aweful. I had been for Sunday Brunch, Mother's Day, and Easter Brunch prior to the closing and reopening when it was Bevo Mill and it was wonderful. This year, I bragged about it to family and made a reservation for ten of us, some who had never been. How embarrassing.... for $35 PLUS $15 for those who got mimosas, we got a $9.95 Brunch AT BEST. The service was terrible. The selection was minimal. The food was cold and not kept up. The advertisement for this event listed food to be among choices that was not there at all. The 20% gratuity added was DEFINITELY NOT earned. I left there feeling extremely ripped off of well over $300.00 and wanted to cry about the HORRIBLE dining experience I made my family endure. Good thing the company was good because the rest was ABSOLUTELY terrible.
We attended Easter brunch buffet. The location is beautiful and historic with lots of interesting touches and an absolutely gorgeous fireplace. We were seated right on time for our reservation. The host and server were welcoming. The food was delicious. We appreciated the accordion player as well.
The only small issues we had were the tea and water were self-serve after the first one (not a carafe—we had to get up and do our own refills) and some food items took awhile to be replenished. Given a mandatory 20% tip was added to the bill, all beverage store refills should’ve been from the server.
Overall it was a very good experience, and we plan to return to experience the regular menu.
This past Sunday was our first time at Das Bevo and we instantly fell in love with the property. The outside of the building was stunning and restaurant itself was so beautiful it took our breath away when we entered. At first, I was so pleased that we chose this place over so many others for our Easter brunch. When we checked in, on-time for our reservation, we expected to be seated in that main area that had the fabulous looking buffet set up that was beautifully decorated, etc. We instead were brought down to the basement where an unmaintained buffet (with no plates), dirty tables, ill fitting 1920s music, and rude servers was what welcomed us. When we finally got plates, we enjoyed several things on the buffet even though a lot of what was advertised was missing and it was pretty basic spread. It’s hard to accept that we were paying $35/pp with a mandatory % for gratuity regardless of the size of your party. I’m one that usually overtips, especially on a holiday, but I found that distasteful. Das Bevo, you have so much potential... I wish I was given a positive experience that I could write about.
Beautiful space, decent beer selection, but lousy and expensive food. Pity.
Will definitely visit the beer garden this summer. Fun and authentic St. Louis gem.
