The waitress could have been a little more attentive. Aside from that, all was great. Awesome Tuesday night with some live reggae music
Their Sunday Brunch spread is amazing! Though the live musicians were great, it was EXTREMELY loud. We were shouting across the table, and still couldn't hear each other.
Food was delicious: I had the jambalaya, my wife had veggie grits, we split the collard greens, all great. Service was friendly but kitchen was slow--got there at 6:15 on Sat. and it took at least 45 mins from ordering to getting the food. Very loud, with canned music, jazz band warming up, and crowd noise. Will definitely go back at a quieter time to sample some more items.
We were coming into Boston for a show at NEC and found them on line. We were happily surprised to not only find good food but great live jazz. The scallop appetizer was outstanding and the shrimp and grits sauce was out of this world. Though it was a bit stingy on the shrimp
Great food and entertainment. Had a group of 6 and everything we tried was very good. Waitress was knowledgeable and fun to interact with. Made great recommendations. Catfish was light and fresh and chicken wings were hot, sweet and tangy. Chicken and waffles ad tender wings and light waffles. Jambalaya was very flavorful with the right spices. Half way through the meal a bad started with old time hits that made it hard to leave.
I can not write a proper review because I was sick not from the food or drinks when my friend and I came up to Boston to go to the symphony I made reservations in advance which they seem to have lots or disapeared not sure why and I could not tell if the places was open at 5 or not But since I wa sick I was very limited on what I could eat. What I had was the Waffles and Chicken which was great but because I was sick I did not finish the entire drink and my bloody mary was not a bloody mary it was listed as something else on the bill and was in a rather smaller glass for the price. So, I would go back but for now I say go and judge for yourself
Great service and ambiance. Val the musician was impeccable!
Darryl's is definitely a gem! The soul food was good, and the music was definitely a highlight! Service was a little slow, but overall good experience!
Great choice for my birthday dinner , great selection and food was to die for ! Will go back for the catfish alone 😍
Food and enternmaint was Great!! Catfish n Mac n cheese are delicous. I can't forget about the wings n the dipping sauce must have appeizter. We will defiantly return for special occasion.
The music was great at Darry'ls kitchen and bar. A little too loud because I couldn't hear my family members speak well enough to have conversation. The food was not anything special or even tasty, which was disappointing considering it was Easter. I felt as if we were being rushed even though there wasn't a wait at the door. The waitress tried to drop the check off without asking if we wanted more to drink. I understand the place is small and they have a 2 hour limit but if they want people to eat faster then they should probably have the band require less of your attention and be more background instead of putting on a show. The "buffet" consisted of cold turkey bacon, lukewarm home fries and tasteless fried chicken. Not much of a variety so I wouldn't necessarily call it a buffet. I will not be back.
Easter jazz brunch was fabulous!
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had!
The food and service at Darryl's is really great. I have enjoyed every meal and cocktail that I have ordered there. My most recent visit I ordered the Shrimp and Grits which was a great variation of that traditional southern dish. The fried polenta was creative and the shrimp was impeccably seasoned. I just wish there were a few more shrimp in the dish!
This was our first time and we had a blast!!!! The service was amazing and the food was a welcome change from typical menus.
Definitely will be back!!
Had a great time before event at Symphony Hall. Food was very good, service great and jazz a bonus.
Exellent meal. The Shrimp and Grits was exceptional. Signature drinks are also excellent. Live jazz was great, although a bit overpowering - it was difficult to hear waitress or have conversation. Would definitely go again
We love the brunch at Daryl’s! The food is excellent and the music superb. Go with people you know well and don’t need to engage in conversation as the noise level is high and makes it almost impossible to chat.... still is a place worth checking out.
LOVED this place. We took a gamble on a new place to dine before the Boston Symphony and it was great. The welcome, the service, the menu and the ambiance, complete with live music.
Had a great time with good food and live entertainment.
Daryl's is always a great time. We've been coming to this spot since it was Bob the Chef's! Food is great and the live music is a bonus. Service is always a pleasure as well... Highly recommend!
The three of us had a fantastic first time visiting Darryl's Corner Bar- the food was delicious and we were vibin' to the live jazz the whole time. We learned after we got there there was a two hour max for seats, the menu was pretty pricey, and that they included a $5 per person charge in our bill because there was live music BUT it was definitely worth it and we hope to stop in again soon!
Very good. Food was fabulous. Maybe a little loud, but band was good.
Great date night spot. Sat at the bar with my wife, good food, good jazz, good service, good vibes.
The atmosphere at Darryl's kitchen was great. The band sounded amazing and the food was delicious. On the other hand the service was awful. The waiters seemed like they were under a lot of stress because of how busy it was and they were not very personable. They seemed to always be rushing and we could barely ask questions. Before the next person could open their mouths the waitress was gone. Also they kept taking our water glasses, napkins, and silverware and because we barely saw the waitress; we went the whole dinner with those items missing. When we finally got the waitress's attention to ask for another water glass and more water, she poured the water into a used glass that had already had an alcoholic beverage in. It's definitely not the end of the world but it's the principle. Other than the service being terrible Darryl's kitchen is a nice place for a date, birthday, or a night out with friends.
First time & will not be my last....enjoyed the music, food , service and atmosphere....great spot for a bite to eat & one on one with the wifey.....
Very disappointed with my latest visit to Darryl’s. I specifically chose to go to Darryl’s on my visit to Boston as I used to live in the city and Darryl’s was a favorite. It was clear since our arrival that we were being rushed through - our party of 4 ordered three appetizers and they came out at the same time as our mains ...
shorty after we enjoyed our dessert and ordered an after dinner drink that was served to us with our bill. We were told that we could enjoy our drinks in the lounge area (that seats 3 people and was full at the time.) we respectfully declined and asked for 5 minutes as we were on our way out.
Within these 5 minutes we had the hostess come up to us to remind us of the 2 hour limit AND the manager. We had let the manager know that we were not impressed with our experience and felt rushed our entire time there- not a great experience for customers spending $400 to be rushed away.
The manager was outright immature and inexperienced as he began to argue with us for another 5 minutes as to why they have a 2 hour limit and why it’s not cool for us to bring up what we spent that night and how “his kind of people” would never do that... whatever that means.
*THERE IS A $5 ENTERTAINMENT FEE PER PERSON ... DONT PROVIDE AND CHARGE FOR ENTERTAINMENT IF YOUR PATRONS CAN’T ENJOY IT FOR LONGER THAN 2 HOURS.
Moral of the story is : they could care less about loyal customers, the service is awful, and YOU WILL BE RUSHED.
We won’t be returning...Too bad because their food is unreal.
Sat at the bar, as usual. Denise (and others) always treats me and my friends like we’re special. Great neighborhood feel even though I don’t live in the neighborhood.
Overall the experience was great. However, two of ordered Darryl’s favorite Salmon Burger and we both tasted some kind of unpleasant after taste. I only ate half of it. Everyone else enjoyed their food and the service was great! The music was also great- just a little loud as we were seated next to it. We will definitely go back - but probably not order the salmon burger.
We had a wonderful evening but were disappointed at the very last moment: got a check with "+additional tip" but were not shown the itemized one with it. Had to ask for our original bill and very much surprised that 25% gratuity was already included without even asking us...
The food was good, just a bit on a pricy side for what they serve.
We had to wait 20 minutes before the waitress came to our table. However, she was very apologetic and extremely nice.
Great customer service from the time I walked in to the time I left. Special shot out to our waitress and the management who made my visit very special.
Darryl's is a popular restaurant because of a great location near the Boston Symphony, its unique menu of southern style comfort food, and its a blues & jazz joint. The atmosphere is
just funky and the seating is close. Making a reservation is recommended but don't expect the table to be available when you get there as we waited 1/2 hour past our reservation time and it seems this is normal. Luckily we got seats at the bar and ordered our food from there. I asked the waitress how spicy the blackened catfish was and she said it wasn't spicy at all. Well it was probably the spiciest blackened dish I have ever had but tolerable for me, just not what I wanted. The collard greens were as good as I have ever but note also highly spiced (including much salt) and the yams were quite good as well so expect very high quality sides with your meal. For people who like low spiced foods, you will need to order very carefully. The polenta for example was not spicy at all and my date said they were good but it was my first time for polenta and it didn't do much for me other than good for sopping up the collard green juice. There was a good choice of craft beers and they seem adept at making cocktails so this is a fun place to go if you are aware of its limitations of being crowded, highly spiced food, and noisy.
We went to Daryl's with family that was in from out of town. The food was great, service was as great as it always is, and the live jazz band allowed our niece to sing with them! It was a great night!
Great place, make a reservation! Very crowded on the weekend.
Excellent music, great staff. Peach chili chicken wings are truth.
Overall our party had an awesome experience. It was my friends wedding night. They really enjoyed themselves!!
The food was tasty, and the band awesome!
Great place for a valentine's date. Great live music. Interactive crowd.
