Darren's Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
The food is outstanding and Darren always is present to accommodate
you. It's our favorite restaurant. Darren goes out of his way to please everyone and make sure the meals are prepared as they were ordered. the staff is always present to make sure you have everything you want. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Hadn’t been here for awhile, always thought so highly of this restaurant. Darren used to come by the table and check-in with guests. This time we had a waitress that seemed to miss the boat, very rare steak that should have been medium rare, a “warm” spinach for which the dressing was cold. And, we didn’t realize the Taste of LA was going on, as we were never offered a tasting menu. Sadly, there are just too many better choices in town. We wanted to support Darren since we moved back to the area. I doubt we will be back .
Great meal at Darren's. The boneless rib eye was awesome. We also enjoyed the ahi, brussel sprouts, mac and cheese, panzanella salad, and brussel sprouts. The wine list and the cocktail list were extensive with a lot of good recommendations. Definitely will be back.
As always food is awesome. Unfortunately service wasn't up to par. One entree served only warm, two sides didn't even come out, and one entree didn't come out until after the rest of the table had completed their meal. Also, 3 times out of 6 the waitstaff gave the entrees to the wrong person. Not the best dining experience that evening. They can and have done much better. Based on my past experience at Darrens as well as the quality of the food, I would recommend Darrens, just need to improve service.
Darren’s is a great neighborhood restaurant with a casual hangout vibe backed by a superb menu and chef, well-curated wine list, and excellent staff. Unlike some other otherwise good MB restaurants, at Darren’s you can actually hear yourself think and engage in good conversations with a friend, date, spouse, etc. I’m a MB resident and Darren’s is one of my favorites.
Great restaurant and food, but as with most upscale establishments in MB the fact that you have to yell to be heard while dining doesn't seem to be a concern for management. We purposely went early at 6PM and still couldn't hear. I guess its just the bar vibe as opposed to the dining vibe...or maybe I'm just getting old:)
Darren's NEVER disappoints! It's our favorite restaurant in the Southbay. Darren is an incredible chef and is involved in every aspect of his restaurant. When we arrived he was at the hostess stand and ready to seat us.
Amazing food every time! The Lobster chowder is incredible and a must every visit.
Went for Dads Bday. Hamachi, Brussels sprouts and halibut good but the Macaroni and Cheese was inedible bc it tasted like it had a a bucket of salt poured all over it. Surprising. The wedge was very basic, on the small side and not really cold. The waitress was sweet
My friend and I enjoyed our dinner at Darren's for several reasons: The reservations were easy to make and we received a warm welcome. The server was perfect: right there when we needed her, and not overbearing in any way. She made some recommendations which we agreed with, and we were happy with the results. The food was delicious, and there is a good wine list, both by the glass and bottle. The atmosphere was very pleasant: not loud, but busy enough to demonstrate a popular dining establishment. I had never been to Darren's before, but I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone seeking an enjoyable dining experience.
The food at Darren's was very creative and delicious. My only beef was that while the dishes are pricey they're also very skimpy in terms of quantity. I'm okay with being charged $150 for a nice dinner out with my wife, but I shouldn't have to hit the local Mcdonald's on the way home because I'm still hungry.
