Hadn’t been here for awhile, always thought so highly of this restaurant. Darren used to come by the table and check-in with guests. This time we had a waitress that seemed to miss the boat, very rare steak that should have been medium rare, a “warm” spinach for which the dressing was cold. And, we didn’t realize the Taste of LA was going on, as we were never offered a tasting menu. Sadly, there are just too many better choices in town. We wanted to support Darren since we moved back to the area. I doubt we will be back .
The restaurant is a great balance of casual and excellent food. It can be a bit noisy so not a romantic getaway.
Food is always top-notch. One of my favorite South Bay spots.
Great meal at Darren's. The boneless rib eye was awesome. We also enjoyed the ahi, brussel sprouts, mac and cheese, panzanella salad, and brussel sprouts. The wine list and the cocktail list were extensive with a lot of good recommendations. Definitely will be back.
This was our first dining experience at Darren's. The food was varied and delicious. Our waiter Kevin was very helpful and lovely. We will most definitely return.
We love this place , good vibe , food is always good and you can hear each other !!
As always food is awesome. Unfortunately service wasn't up to par. One entree served only warm, two sides didn't even come out, and one entree didn't come out until after the rest of the table had completed their meal. Also, 3 times out of 6 the waitstaff gave the entrees to the wrong person. Not the best dining experience that evening. They can and have done much better. Based on my past experience at Darrens as well as the quality of the food, I would recommend Darrens, just need to improve service.
All good, great taste
Ten years is a long time for a restaurant to survive in Manhattan Beach. Darren's never fails to deliver something a little different from it's competitors.
Food was excellent
