D'Arcy McGees - Sparks Street
The food was pretty good. I liked the Shepard's Pie. The others in the group thought the food was OK. Service was good, and friendly. The restaurant itself can use a reno/update. Perhaps it passes because it gives that "old pub feel", but, probably, it is just a bit worn out. The location is great if you are going to the National Arts Centre (about a 3 minute walk). Will give it another try.
Service great. Guinness beef in Yorkshire Pudding bowl was delicious. Anxious to return.
D’Arcy McGees is my place to go before and after NAC concerts. The staff already knows what we eat and drink so no ordering is necessary.
Like the on-line booking though. Helps a lot in not being concern if there is a table for me.
We usually go there prior to performances at the National Arts Centre. Its very convenient, but the place is starting to get tired.
Food was really good and a beer for $4 is most valuable!
Our meal was excellent but for a Sunday at 5:30pm I was surprised to have our waiter tell us they were out of steak, maple glazed salmon, and chicken pot pie! So we went with beef pies and pasta. The service was excellent as it was extremely busy serving the dinner crowd before the 7:30pm show at the Art Centre.
Very busy. Very loud. Food was great, hot, tasty and plentiful
My party took advantage of a couple of coupons, dividing them between our bills. The waiter informed us that his manager had approved an exception for us to use the coupons, and let us know there was an intended limit of one per table--not one per bill, as we'd assumed. Seeing as the coupons guided what we chose to order, this was a frustrating way to end our experience the other night--haggling over semantics.
We reserved for 6 because we thought it would be crowded for the NAC show( and it was). We got stuck at 3 tiny 2 person table rather than the 3 bigger tables for 6. 2 of these tables were empty for at least 30 minutes. It was not a comfortable spot to talk or have a drink. Food was OK. SERVICE was OK. Would not go back. There are manY others close to the NAC .
Food was great. Brew choices covered many tastes.
Eating at the Russell building with the Stanley Cup background made it even more special. Would go back tomorrow if I lived less than 400 miles away.
My food took forever and it was lukewarm at best. No time to send it back as we were going to NAC show.
Great service, very noisy and the chicken pot pie was very dry. I have eaten here many times and always been satisfied with the food but the chicken pot pie was not great.
We enjoyed the food and drink. Only down side was that we were beside the ladies washroom.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Wonderful place for lunch before attending the theatre.
We were there on a show night and it was busy but we had a reservation. We were seated promptly and made our order quickly knowing we had to get to our show. It took 45 minutes from order time to get our food (a sandwich and the special). We had to rush through our meals to make our show. No warning was given before hand that there may be a long wait for our meal.
Service excellent, malgré un achalandage élevé! La nourriture était savoureuse et respectait le thème du pub irlandais.
Unusually quiet but enjoyable. Great service and super food and drink!
Either turn the music down or turn your customers down. Too noisy.
Samantha was our server she was excellent
Great atmosphere and location
We were seated downstairs and seemed to be enveloped by the smoke from the kitchen about halfway through our meal! Felt like we were going to smell like a BBQ!
Finding the ladies room was near impossible!
Settling the bill was a bit of a challenge because we wanted to pay three ways instead of each of us paying our own - we were a party of four.
A refreshingly different menu, friendly service and great location.
Unfortunately the service was so terrible it ruined our entire experience. Food came out cold, as if it had been sitting waiting to be served. We had to track down our server in order to pay.
I love all the food here! And the staff are always top notch! Friendly and very efficient
Our table wasn't great by the ladies washroom, but it was still enjoyable.
Changes on the menu were a disappointment for me & my friend. The Power Bowl is served with a different rice now. Taste is lacking as per my friend. I had the Mini Yorkies- not as tasty as usual...no creamed corn I think was the difference. Also I was sad to not have my fave Tawse Rose. I tried the other Rose. It's ok but not the 'wow' that I enjoyed with Tawse.
I suppose change is inevitable but I'm not looking forward to going back anytime soon.
The fish and chips special as always was excellent. We had a great time as expected
Great location, pub fare, good for family. When we visited, on a Sat at 5pm, the place was just right to grab a quick bite to eat before going to the NAC (which is right across the street).
For a very busy pub in a small space they do an amazing job on accommodating clients so they do not feel "cramped" . The lamb burger is amazing as are the curried choices and guinness stew!
Great atmosphere, amazing wait staff, quick service, good food! I love the gluten friendly menu!!
We enjoyed a tasty meal of comfort food on a cold winter's evening before attending a show at the NAC. Our server was friendly, attentive and efficient.
Enjoyed our evening, excellent server and meal, Butter Chicken and Burger was great. Very noisy table near us and right beside Ladies washroom. Bit of an odour when door opened.
Quick service but didn't see any disabled access. Stairs were manageable with use of railing.
We were seated quickly, order was placed quickly, Coffee was delivered, as was tea, but the tea pot only had 1 cup of water in it when the pot itself was large enough for 3 cups (at least).
The seafood chowder and the french onion soup were both absolutely delicious!!
The food order was slow and we received an apology plus coupons for appetizers on our next visit. The waitress was friendly and gave attentive service.
We have always enjoyed our visit & meals before we go to the NAC. Service is always friendly.
This is a convenient place to dine when going to the NAC. Great food; lively ambiance; friendly service! Extensive menu so lots of choices (food-wise, i.e.). Wine by the glass choices could be better.
D'Arcy McGee's is an Irish Pub so that says it all. It's a fun place to eat and the food and service are typically very good.
Excellent comfort food on a cold winter's evening. Warm and Cozy atmosphere. Will definitely come back again.
Food was great and we were in a rush which the server accommodated graciously.
Great ambience, great food. Plus, my girlfriend forgot her phone on the table, and when we returned several hours later, they were helpful in finding it for us.
