Daphne at Twisted Laurel
First, we were seated at a high top when i specifically requested a table on the reservation . We sat there for at least 10 minutes before anyone noticed we were there. Finally someone brought water and took our drink orders. 10 minutes later we got someone to take our food order - but at 6pm on a Saturday night they were out of what 3 out of 4 people at the table wanted - trout. On a Saturday night. The host had not told us this, so we had to settle for something else. Then after 10 more minutes we got our drinks (they were also out of the “feature” beer my husband wanted). The food was mediocre., and we were late for Shindig. We have been to Twisted Laurel in Weaverville which was wonderful - good food and great service on a very busy night. Very dissatisfied and disappointed with how the Daphne is being managed. Won’t be going back.
Brussel sprouts app had good flavor. The sprouts were a bit under cooked (read raw). I certainly don’t want them mushy and they were far from that. Not many sprouts for the price of the appetizer
Chicken and waffles were yummy.
Tuna entree was also very good
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I will convey your experience to the Chef so that we are able to prevent this from happening in the future. I am so happy that you enjoyed the rest of your meal. Please give us the opportunity to serve you again in the near future.
Parking non existent. Host was unhelpful at suggesting a place to park. Food was bland. Menu was very limited.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. Unfortunately parking is always an issue for us being a downtown restaurant. That, however, does not excuse a member of our staff being unhelpful. For that I sincerely apologize. We have recently hired a new Chef who is doing the best he possibly can, but sometimes we will undoubtedly fall short. Please give us the opportunity to serve you again in the future and provide you with the experience we can truly offer.
Great food, nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. I had a duck entrée with sweet potato purée and spinach that was new to the menu, and it was fantastic!
One of my most memorable and favorite birthday dinners, ever!
Thank you for your review!
We ate outside and really enjoyed ourselves. Food was good. Good service. Exciting ambiance. The chairs were really low! My chin was only about 8-10 inches above the table.
Other than that we had a great dinner.
Food was subpar. Wine bottles are overpriced. Service was mediocre.
Delicious ! Nice inventive foodie worthy menu. Went for lunch and we had the Korean BBQ chicken sandwich with KimChi Slaw and the Cubana (best one I've had anywhere!) the pork was tender and flavorful. We will definately be back to try more items.
We left. The menu changes were terrible. I give the new ‘twist’ on Twisted Laurel 6 months max.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. We apologize that you were not pleased with the new menu. We admit that our current direction is very different from original one, and we are in the process of reevaluating our menu. Please give us the opportunity to serve you again.
A very nice place. We had to give up on eating there because we couldn’t find a place to park.
Daniel, our server, made the whole evening work. He was welcoming and transparent about the menu, sharing his personal experiences with the menu and admitting when he hadn’t tried something about which we asked. We enjoyed the ambiance and banter with other guests.
Group of us from work had a nice meal. Food was served pretty quickly and service was appropriate (there when we needed but not interrupting every 5 minutes). We each had something different from salads to burgers to sandwiches and everyone enjoyed it. Especially like outdoor seating option under canopies or indoor air-conditioned options!
We really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. We had several small players which were great (including the pierogies) and the roast chicken entree was very well done.
Delicious food and attentive service!
Came here before a play at ACT. Love the new menu.. small plates and larger meals. The sweet potato ravioli small plate was superb and was a shared appetizer . I got the tempeh and grits and it was very rich. Delicious but I couldn’t finish all of mine. The other person ate all of hers. My only complaint was that we needed a dictionary to figure out what some of the ingredients were and the dishes were not labeled V or G as is the norm now in Asheville for Vegan or Gluten free food. Service was very good. Would definitely return.
Was in town for class & a new find
Enjoyed the meal & service was good
I went early so they weren’t busy
Big negative was the very skimpy drinks
I had a cocktail that was barely a sip
Glass of wine for $12 & so little in the glass
I’d probably go back but would skip the bar
Which means I probably wouldn’t go back
After reviewing photos on their web site and reading reviews touting the new chef, we made reservations for four. The food didn't look anything like the photos but rather the way my mother plopped food on a plate all running together in an unattractive palate. My sandwich description included caramelized onions but there wasn't a single onion in the bun and the fries were old and cold. A second person had the chicken which not only was difficult to cut and the plating unattractive, the meat was tough. The other two diners had similar experiences. Will never return!
Wonderful restaurant. Got seated right away at a beautiful table overlooking the Asheville atmosphere outside. Waitresses were very attentive and personable. Explained the food well and gave recommendations on drinks and food. The food was absolutely amazing. Fresh and delicious and presented beautifully. Highly recommended.
Outstanding food, a great location, and friendly and professional staff. This place is a true "do not miss" spot in downtown Asheville.
First of all, the service was VERY slow, our waitress came about 2 times in the whole hour that we were there, it wasn't at all busy. It took like 30 minutes before we actually got our food and it wasn't very good. It was about ten dollars for 6 onion rings , we had 4 people. We got a kids pizza, 2 subs, 1 salad, and 2 apps, our total bill was $70. It was completely not worth it at all. We could have gone somewhere else and gotten the same stuff for half the price. All of our food was cold when we got it, when we ordered drinks, they didn't come until we were almost done with our food. It was really bad and I would not recommend it to anyone.
We had an excellent gyro platter and the price was very reasonable. Our server was prompt, efficient and the atmosphere was casual and friendly.
Nice little place - very friendly staff - good value dining - highly recommend!
Had a great experience at Twisted Laurel. Experienced great service, great drinks, and great music. Food was also very good and was brought out promtly after it was ordered. Would definitely recommend to all.
Twisted Laurel is a beautiful restaurant in a prime location in downtown Asheville. We have eaten there many times, and as locals we spent Christmas Eve there with our family this year. The food is good...although I wish they had more variety on the menu. We love the ambiance and the amount of seating for large groups.
Our table was ready and waiting when we arrived, the server was attentive and friendly . We had a party of 16 and she handled it professionally. As usual the food was delicious. I think we all ordered something different and all were pleased!
Went for a late dinner after arriving into town. Food met expectations and the server was excellent. Because we were eating late, a musician was performing that was acoustic and at a comfortable sound level. We enjoyed the music. The noise seems to be due to the physical aspects of the building. High ceilings, concrete, glass and steel for an industrial feel that does work.
Bottom-line, we will come again, but maybe for lunch or an early evening. Worth the visit. I agree with the $$ rating for prices.
Dined here twice while in Asheville. Good food and great drinks both times.
My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner here. He ordered the eggplant stack and it was amazing! Fun cocktails too. We highly recommend.
Great food, decent pricing, and mediocre service. The apps are really good and we all were impressed by the entrees. This could be a staple go to place for dinner if the service was not so horrific. Our server, who I also believe may have been a manager, seemed more occupied with talking to the host and hanging out at the end of the bar chatting with staff than offering prompt and timely service. I ended up having to give a member of my group my beverage because she never refilled his drink. The food was the shinning star, but waitstaff needs some work.
Everything was just OK. Not particularly disappointing, but also nothing special.
The pork was over salted
Third time for me!
Brought six friends for dinner who had never been there before.
They will all be repeat customers!
Stopped buy while in Asheville. It was a top rated restaurant near our location. We ate outside on the porch and it was a delightful atmosphere. The Greek style menu was good and the food was well prepared.
Service lacked a little, it was slow and they had problems with their computer adding to the problem. The couple next to us were there 2 hours. Ours wasn't that bad but I imagine that if it was very crowded it would be worse. It wasn't that busy when we were there.
But we were there to relax and eat some good food, so we enjoyed our dinner.
Not impressed. The food wasn't seasoned well and I can't eat cheese so there were very few options on the menu for me to choose from. Not going back for the food but the atmosphere was cool.
One of my favorites! Amazing food with a reasonable price. Always had good service here.
Great experience in all ways. Food was prepared perfectly and our waitress, Cheryl, was outstanding. We will be back soon!
Interesting menu, has good food and service and a convenient location
Service very good and friendly. Food mediocre at best. Convenient location.
We had just arrived in Asheville to start our vacation. We used Open Table App to book our dinner. We arrived ahead of scheduled time but they seated us right away. Our waitress was Katie. Katie was very knowledgeable about the food and local craft beers. She said please feel free to ask me any questions you may have. She expected us to have questions and she was ready with the answers.
We ordered the twisted laurel. Three different kinds of hummus served with big logs of feta cheese with pita triangles. It was delicious. We ordered the lasagna. It was served hot and was delicious. We will definitely return to this restaurant again and tell all our friends.
The restaurant was extremely noisy. We were seated at a high table on uncomfortable bar stools with no backs. This was especially difficult for my 5 year old and also forced us to place jackets and purses on the floor. The food was good but service seemed to be a chore for the several folks who waited on us. I don't know that I would visit again.
