Over the top! I often dine at Jockey Hollow Bar And Kitchen and didn’t expect that da Pesca, their more expensive fine dining could be so much better. I was wrong! The tuna and the scallop appetizers were both amazing! The egg with large white asparagus made we want to go there every day for the egg! Imagine a whole lightly fried egg: wow! The skate wings too were exceptional. The sommelier was super knowledgeable. Looking forward to a return visit!
Not worth the money. Apparently you have no choice but to order from a prix-fixed menu. Very limited options, very small portions. The service is impeccable, but the food and ambiance were disappointing. Plenty of other options in Morristown that will leave your belly happy and not empty your wallet in the process. Also note that 95% of the menu options are seafood items.
Great from beginning to end! Really enjoyed everything about the mansion!
Very nice....but not inexpensive.
Amazing 6 course tasting menu , each dish was was beautifully prepared and presented , there were too many favorites to choose from , sqid ink pasta excellent as were the fish dishes that came at the end , but so were they all .
Service outstanding , they took such good care of us and made it extra special as we were celebrating our anniversary , thank you all , a very memorable evening indeed !
Everything was delicious!
Excellent service and meal. A beautiful location very nicely appointed. A former municipal building transformed into several amazing restaurants.
Excellent restaurant. Very good service. Food was amazing. Dessert a bit less... highly recommend this place
Wonderful meal and exceptional service.
Excellent food in a beautiful space. Expensive so I would suggest a special occasion such as an anniversary. Service was very good but there is room for improvement as an expensive place should not miss the small details like filling water glasses or asking if we wanted an after-dinner drink.
We did the price fix. Pasta course was salty and entree of trout was dry. Dessert of lemon truffle cheese cake was excellent. I did tell waiter about the fish and he did apply a credit to the bill. Beautiful ambiance.
This is a great place for a special occasion. The location, in the Vail Mansion, is spectacular. The view in early evening while it is still light out is beautiful. The service was top notch and beyond attentive. The food was unique.
At first, we were seated at a smaller table, but when we requested to be moved they accommodated us immediately. Our waiter, Kevin, was very conscientious. He answered all our menu questions and made some suggestions which were perfect. I started with the raviolo which was wonderfully prepared. Next I had the scallops. They were delicious- succulent and plump and seasoned well. All the staff were so attentive and I got the feeling that they genuinely cared. It was a lovely evening and we look forward to returning.
We had an incredible experience! It was a busy night in Morristown, as usual parking was challenging. A brisk walk, and we got to the restaurant, on time for our reservations at 8pm. The service was outstanding, while we were waiting on our table, we were offered a glass of wine (a very tasty wine I might add!) and a tour of the kitchen. Very impressive. What an amazing place. Our table was set and ready for us to continue our Anniversary dinner, table was by the window so we can take a peek at the nightlife of Morristown. The service was impeccable. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable on which wine to pair with what food. Well done! The food was exceptional, and perfectly prepared!! Again, well done!! We will be back. Looking forward to be dazzled, again! Thanks
Searching for a Michelin star? This is the place
Be prepared to spend 100 a person plus wine
I had another outstanding meal at da Pesca Tuesday evening. Excellent food and perfect service. Best wine list in New Jersey!
The best part of our meal was the service, followed by the decor, then the location 10 minutes from home, and finally the food. We ate the four-course $86 prix-fixe, and it wasn't worth the price. We eat often at high-end restaurants, usually in Manhattan because there aren't many in NJ, so price wasn't the issue. It was the balance of price and food. Even at $60, there would be little reason for a fish restaurant to overcook the fish--my monkfish had been overcooked and was consequently dry and tough. Portions are too large. This was not our first visit, but probably our last.
We really wanted to love this place. It is grand and beautiful, unfortunately we were not impressed with the food. We chose the prix fix 4 course menu. For courses 1,2 and dessert we each had different choices. The were good but nothing memorable. For our entree we chose Skate Wing. We have enjoyed skate wing at many different restaurants, but never had this version. We were presented with 1 1/2” diameter by 1 1/2” long discs. They were seared and had an unpleasant odd dense texture. Were it not for the overpowering bed of roasted cauliflower the fish was tasteless. We are aware that some establishments have been cited for trying to pass off these “skate punches” for scallops, but never heard of them being presented as skate wing. We could not finish our entrees. We feel this restaurant is more a place to see and be seen and overrated and would not return.
The Night was amazing ! Service and food A+ Casual Yet Elegant
The friendliness and professionalism of everyone we encountered was 10/10! The food was not only unique and delicious but of ample portions and my cocktail was perfectly balanced.
We needed to use the elevator to get up to the dining area and that was a bit of an adventure - but the staffer who took us through the maze was perfectly fine and helpful.
I don’t often go up into Morristown but this is worth the bit of traffic and they have Valet parking.
For us, a new great option for special occasions!
Overall happy to have experienced this restaurant; however was a bit disappointed on the food portion size and the flavors that ranged from not enough to overwhelming. The smaller restaurants looked fun and will want try them in the future.
The food was good but pre fix menu could have been better thought out. The second course had one option of a sunchoke soup which was tasty but extremely filling when having a full 4 course meal. I wished they had a good salad as another Option. 3rd course was ok..i had the tile fish. The dessert carrot cake was pretty yummy though. Scallop crudo was great because the scallops were extremely fresh and sweet but could have had some more as far as citrussy flavors and fresh herbs. The service was great and the ambience intimate. The buiilding it's just awesome too.
Birthday- food was good not great
The head waiter started out strong as a salesman, trying to up sell the pre-fix menu and then things went downhill from there. The timing of food was way off. Way too much time during courses. We had to repeatedly ask for them to refill our glasses w the pellagrino we ordered. Our cocktails were empty and still no one came back over. Then finally our main courses were delivered. And they were cold. The waiter apologized and sent them back for new ones. The new ones were hot but my scallops were bunt. Overall for $350 dinner for 2 it was terrible. Couldn’t wait to leave. I have never written a review for a restaurant before, but last night was so absurd that I had to let others know. There are many restaurants in Nj, I highly recommend you skip this one.
After frequent positive experiences at the we we're excited to give the da Pesca tasting menu a try. Unfortunately our enthusiasm didn't last but long as we we quickly became disappointed in our decision. Before getting into my critiques, I will note the the ambiance and decor were both fantastic. We had a great spot in the corner and really enjoyed the setting. The food was pretty good, but definitely not worth the price charged on the tasting menu. We really liked about a third of what we ordered, while the remaining dishes were relatively bland. However the service was downright awful. Our drink orders were taken promptly, but it became quite the arduous task to obtain a refill. The food runners had minimal knowledge of the menu and compensated for their lack of knowledge with inaudible descriptions to hide their limitations. They were unable to clarify information when any further questions were asked. Finally, when we received our bill, we noticed they charged us separate for a 3 course meal and dessert. Had we known that was an option, we would have gladly split a dessert amongst the table. I'd recommend utilizing the Vail bar for pre dinner drinks before heading elsewhere for your main course.
My wife and I ordered the 6 course dinner with wine pairing. We got to say if you are looking forward to a great evening of food and wine trust the chief choices and dive in. You will not regret it.
Excellent service, the cuisine was outstanding, I took two of my friends there for dinner and they loved it. I enjoyed it so much that I am returning this Saturday with two different friends.
The Smoked Fettuccine, with Clams, Melted Leeks, Crispy Potatoes, & Barnegate Oyster Collective was delicious.
I had the Buckwheat Crusted Steelhead Trout, with
Borscht, Mushroom Dumplings, Parsnip, & Creme Fraiche which was perfect.
Have eaten here before and thought it was fine, but this time things were outstanding. The service was impeccable, great wine suggestion (and taste), excellent food. Could not have been better.
It was a great dining experience not just a great meal -the setting was beautiful and the service superb -creative dishes and we would highly recommend this destination to anyone
Everyone was very attentive to our every need. The food is amazing, and I appreciated when our dishes were brought the wait staff would remind us of all the ingredients on each dish. Excellent service.
Date night with husband .. amazing !! Food yummy .. drinks delicious
Went there when it first opened and it was a disaster - however, they more than made up for it last night. It was wonderful - both food and service. Naz was a great server and added to the experience. Once again, best restaurant in Morristown.
New Years Eve five course tasting. Everything was great, but we ordered a la cart oysters which I think screwed up the service schedule. Otherwise great food and ambiance.
We are not super foodies, but the New Year's Eve five course dinner was among the best meals we've ever had.
My wife and I went here for a special occasion to have more of a foodie experience. The food lived up to the expectation as it was quite different from other restaurants and really good. I can see how other people would have liked the service to be better but I knew going into it that it would be a two hour dinner with drinks between the courses. It would be nice if the drinks were a little cheaper but overall a good experience that I would recommend.
it's too expensive for the quality of food and service. The waiting staff is just not well trained and they don't care. One of the waiters dropped a brad roll on the table, and then picked it up and still placed it on the plate. The food is just OK, it's overpriced. If you want to impress someone or you are trying to show that you can afford an expensive restaurant - that's the restaurant.
We went for Christmas Eve dinner. The food was excellent and portion size was adequate. Had left overs to take home. Service was exceptional. I will be going back.
Enjoyed the Christmas Eve prix fixe menu, it was awesome.
Food was excellent throughout the four course prix fixe meal. The skatewing with roasted cauliflower made me actually like cauliflower, and the peanut butter mousse dessert (robed in chocolate) was worth every calorie.
The service was off, admittedly on a busy night - twice they tried to bring us food that wasn't for our table, once they got our two dishes backwards, and we had very long waits between courses (people at a nearby table who were seated after us were served two courses in the time we were served one). We had to request ice and lemon for our water twice at the start, and then the water was only refilled when we asked for it. And a glass that was no longer needed (used to bring us ice and lemon) sat on the table through three courses. Having said all that, the staff were pleasant and you could see they were trying to get things right.
Creative menu and options for a memorable culinary experience. Wonderful venue is regal and ideal for smaller private gatherings and parties, especially during the holiday season. The staff ensure you have a wonderful experience and offer many different opportunities to try something new.
