DANTE Ratings and Reviews
We were there on a pretty quiet night. The service was very attentive and hospitable as always. We were there not too long ago but the menu was so good, we hurried back to try the things we weren't able to order before the menu changes for fall. There was one appetizer that we didn't love and it was graciously and quickly replaced with one that we did. The servers suggestions were on point. We will be back soon.
We have been visiting Dante for several years now. It has always been my favorite place to celebrate my birthday or our annuversary. We usually get the same thing, the tasting menu, and have always ordered different dishes. We loved the food and the ability to trade dishes just in case there was an item we may not have cared for. The dishes were always superb, always creative and well worth it. This time, we were told they didn't do different menus but try to accommodate us, even though we have ordered this way for years. My pasta course was very underdone and had no flavor at all. My husband's steak was overcooked and as we both had the same main course which we were told was filet, was a pretty chewy cut for a filet. Overall, the food was okay. Unfortunately, 'just okay' is not acceptable when you are spending 100.00 for one meal. We appreciate all of the wonderful meals prior to last night but will spend our special occasions elsewhere from now on.
We love Dante! We visited this time to celebrate our anniversary and everything was wonderful, as usual. Service was excellent. Appetizers of calamari and tuna tartare were delicious. The pork belly polenta was so good! Entrees were excellent, although we ate too much ahead of time to finish them. Nice wine by the glass and cocktails. Dante is one of our favorite restaurants in Cleveland and we look forward to coming back!
My wife and I went to Dante for our 25th wedding anniversary. When I made the reservation on OpenTable I added a note that this was our 25th wedding anniversary and we would like as private a seating accommodation as was possible. Upon arriving we were seated cafeteria style on a long bench with other patrons so close as to make any private conversation impossible. I assumed this was the best they had due to heavy patronage. When we finished dinner my wife went to the ladies room prior to leaving. Upon returning to the table she commented to me that there were a number of empty tables in the back of the restaurant that would have been perfect for our dinner. Obviously the staff did not pay attention to the simple request I made. The food was very good and the wait staff were polished and professional. I would probably return for an average night out but never for a special occasion.
I tried the tomato pasta which lacked adequate seasoning. It tasted like straight carbs but I liked the concept of it being fresh and pressed with real tomatoes. However, garlic, salt, pepper etc could have better been incorporated. My main dish consisted of the butter poached lobster. Unfortunately the lobster was over cooked, like rubber band tough, overcooked. The white asparagus left a little to be desired, maybe an actual pasta in it's place would have worked better topped with some micro greens. The garlic mashed potato puree was astonishing! All in all, I am glad I finally got the opportunity to check the place out, the wait staff was great! (shoutout to waiter serving the tables in the cabin room toward the glass door around 8pm 6/9/2017). I hope to return soon and pick back up were we left off Chef Dante -Trent Johnson
This was my first trip to Dante and it was wonderful. We took a client there for a business dinner and the service was spectacular. The meal was timed perfectly, we had drinks, apps, entrees and desert. They had run out of one of the desserts we ordered and we told them it was no problem but they brought us out another dessert on the house. Great experience! Delicious drinks, amazing food. I will absolutely be back! AGAIN AND AGAIN!
Dante was good, not great. I had to laugh, because they give you a guitar pick at the end of the meal. If you collect ten of them, you get a discount on a future visit. I found myself having a hard time imagining collecting another one, much less ten of them.
That being said, the appetizers and small plates (pasta course) were very good - in the upper echelon. The entrees, drinks and bread were disappointing (Taking into consideration that someone had specifically recommended Dante for their drinks!)
I didn't feel ripped off, but I didn't see any reason to come back either. I will likely try one of the other upscale Tremont restaurants next time I am looking for a fine dining experience.
Dante's is a culinary extravaganza! The choices are so varied and unusual. You can also order in small - med. or large portions. We had a five course meal and each course was amazing!!! Highly recommend the Bolognese and homemade pasta! Service exceptional and the VAULT so special! Can't wait to return!
Sarah was an excellent server. Her knowledge of the menu and ability to spout off wine pairing recommendations without giving it a second thought was very impressive. My husband enjoyed talking with her about gin and her personality made the evening more fun!
We went for my girlfriend's birthday dinner. We had a great experience. Our waiter, I believe his name was Daniel, was fantastic. Really did a good job of making the experience very special for my girlfriend. He explained the menu perfectly and the food was fantastic. Very full and satisfied leaving there.
Beautiful and very unique as it used to be an old bank. However, once we were seated, we were ignored by the entire wait staff until my husband finally went and complained. Once we complained after 25 min of waiting things got rolling and the manager was our primary server. They did end up comping our drinks and gave us free desert.
As far as food, oysters and risotto were delicious. The lamb was so salty you couldn't eat it and the deserts were actually disgusting. Shocking because I love desert and I was really grossed out.
Not worth the hype.
My experience at Dante was in one word--amazing! My family and I went out for my father's birthday and we did the 5-course tasting menu with the wine pairings. Each dish was phenomenal (minus the escargot which I just don't care for--not their fault!) Our server was very knowledgeable about the wine choices, and each one complimented the dishes perfectly. There was a bit of a delay in the kitchen with one or two of our courses, but the server poured us an extra glass of wine while we waited. I actually didn't mind the wait--gave me more time to prepare for the next course! We we given the Salmon Tartar, Crab w/ pasta, Scallops w/ roasted eggplant, New York Strip steak, and the desserts were Cheesecake, Chocolate and Blueberry mousse, and a fig tartlett. If you like seafood, wine, and Tremont, this is the place for you!
Always excellent. Have been eating here for years and food and service have been consistently excellent. Always on our go to list are tuna tartare and the pasta Bolognese; pasta as well as some other dishes can be ordered in various portion sizes which is a great feature. Fish is always fresh and nicely prepared and presented. Servers are knowledgeable and efficient; great wine list at all price points; if server doesn't know answers about wine, they get help from someone who does. We dined once in the kitchen with a party of 7, and it was a truly memorable experience. Bravo - one of the top 5 of fine dining eateries in Cleveland.
Service and atmosphere was outstanding, as well as the carbonara. I planned to take my boyfriend here for his birthday and, of course, I booked it through Open Table and noted it. I was definitely not expecting it but our server brought out an amazing slice of cake, on the house. Very impressed.
Overall a nice evening. Was offered a quiet spot to enjoy our night up front (was our wedding anniversary though we didn't announce) though perhaps a little less ambient. The waiter was quite attentive mostly but was for some reason a while before taking our drink order. Definitely 5 mins past due. The appetizer calamari and the fettucine we thought was cooked perfectly. The sea scallops were a little overcooked, which can appreciate is easy to do, but for the entree price point especially was a little disappointing. Feel like this restaurant is overpriced for the consistency in level of service and food. We did feedback to the chef. Comping the app would have considered appropriate service but was not offered. We still enjoyed our evening but would likely return for a more casual dining experience to enjoy a pasta dish which was excellent.
We went to Dante for a milestone birthday in the family. I put that info in the Open Table notes and we were thrilled to be seated at the table located in the old bank vault! It made for a fun and slightly more intimate evening. Our server was great. He was there when needed, didn't rush us in making decisions, but offered ideas when asked.
The food was also delicious. Between the three of us we shared 2 tasting sizes of pasta, as well as appetizers, all of which were wonderful. Then we each had an entree; My husband had the scallops, I had salmon, and our daughter had the papardelle with bolognese sauce. She chose the appetizer size (after having all those tastings and appetizers) and that was definitely the right choice for her. The scallops were buttery and the salmon tender. The roasted strawberry parfait and the marscapone cheesecake were delicious as well.
I would definitely recommend Dante to anyone looking for a fine dining experience with a more casual atmosphere. It was a wonderful evening all around.
We ordered the 5 course meal. This is the second time we have ordered this and it was amazing. Blew away our expectations. We have no food restrictions so it's easy for us to go in blindly and be surprised by what creations they set before us. The service was on point. We will definitely be back.
