DANTE Ratings and Reviews
We were seated in the new addition at the back, which has a completely different atmosphere than the main dining room. While the main room is contemporary and elegant, the addition feels like a ski chalet - knotty pine ceiling with exposed beams, and wood paneling (although one wall is a funky mosaic design). It was disappointing, as we'd been looking forward to the vibe of the main room.
Service was spotty. Long delays in taking our order, and server was alernately abrupt and friendly
The food was good, but not exceptional. Friends have raved about Dante's, and while I found the food to be good, I was hardly blown away by it. I'd recommend it, but not highly recommend it. Try to sit in the main room.
I was pleasantly surprised by the structure of the menu. You are able to select from different options - pasta, polenta, risotto, etc - in different sizes (tasting, appetizer, main). This option allowed us to approach our dinner in the same way as we would tapas - lots of small plates. The bbq eel risotto was fantastic. The wine list was extensive (probably 5 or 6 pages) and the beer list was adequate, although I think I would have liked to see more local beers on tap.
Great restaurant. Love the vibe in the bar and front of the house. Food is creative and delicious. Unfortunately, we were seated in the back area, through the kitchen. I haven't been there enough to realize this seating area existed. Sort of ruined the vibe for me and my wife (there for our anniversary). We will definitely be back, but will be sure to be seated in the main restaurant or even the bar (which is hip, yet comfortable). The patio is off this back area, so in warm weather maybe it is the place to be. In the autumn, not so much.
The ambiance of this restaurant is perfect for a great night out. The desert and my gf’s filet mignon were spectacular.
The 50 min wait despite reservations was unacceptable.
Being Vegetarian my entrée (termed Vegan) was just average. This is not far from the normal as other Contemporary American restaurants in the Cleveland area that Dante competes with (barring a few that have special Veg menus) are also traditionally around par concerning this type of fare but I was expecting (perhaps falsely) that a top 5 upcoming chef would provide a spectacular meal for what is probably a small segment in the Cleveland area.
We had wonderful service however our main course was served lukewarm. The surf and turf had minute portion of ribs. Polenta was good but pasty after it got cold. I would however recommend this restaurant in that the sushi bar looked fantastic and perhaps I just had one off night meal.
A friend that I hadn't seen in 15 years was in town. I hadn't been to Dante's but had heard good things about it. My friend is well travelled, a conniesseur and I hoped it would be up to her standards. The cocktails, appetizers and main course were outstanding! My friend was surprised that Cleveland had restaurants on par with NYC!
The cocktails were lovely and the food was quite good. I was especially relieved that they had vegan options. My table of four old friends getting together for a reunion of sorts was very satisfied and we enjoyed ourselves quite a bit.
Definitely a spot where you take your time to enjoy the experience.
Went for anniversary. Pre called for a more isolated table with a candle and flowers. They did a great job setting this up. Ambiance is very romantic with a dim warm lighting. The dining are itself is very nicely decorated with a mix of contemporary art in a old romantic architecture. Food was delicious. I am very picky when it comes to duck and though I was not extremely impressed they did great. My girls salmon was outstanding. To quote her, 'this is the way salmon is suppose to be cooked'. Despite the elegance Dante brings there are always loud obnoxious people which was the only negative thing I have to say about Dante.
Absolutely one of the best dining destinations in Cleveland. The menu is fresh in terms of variety, and no problem finding a fulfilling vegan option. Service is impeccable, as was the Bannana pumpkin mousse soup that happened to NOT taste like bananas!! Well definitely be back.
We recently dined at Dante after a recommendation from Lolita's (they were full). An small old bank in Tremont it had a ton of ambiance. We're from out of town and we dined there with our son, who's attending a local University. The whole experience was FABULOUS! They were kind enough to put us in "the vault" - fun! The food was outstanding and the place had a great buzz. Loved the wine and beer list! Our waiter was a middle aged man who showed great poise, and really provided great direction around the menu..based on our preferences. We were very grateful to Dante for such a special evening. We WILL be back - no question!
What started out frustrating turned to wonderful. We had to wait 40 minutes, despite our reservations, and were literally about to walk out the door. When we got to our seat, the staff immediately brought us drinks and food to make up for the wait. A very nice gesture. Service was spot on all night.
Let's talk about the food though. The tuna tartar starter was one of the best dishes we've had in years. The charcuterie plate, risotto and parpadelle pasta were perfect too.
Overall, despite a rocky start, this was an excellent dining experience. Will come back for sure.
Hi, have been there before and the menu confused me but once I got the hang of it (again) all was fine. The music was a tad loud when we arrived but it was turned down after a while and was much better to hear our conversation. Appetizers and small plates were varied choices and main dish too. Had a great time, comfortable atmosphere, friendly servers and great vibe.
My wife and I were visiting Cleveland for a wedding. We ventured to Dante's after reading about it and hearing rave reviews from my parents, Clevelanders. I must admit that my hometown has upped the game with food selections. The bar is high and it's never been a secret that Cleveland is a top destination for foodies. Knowing this, it's safe to say that Dante's is currently leading the charge.
The setting is supreme, running in an old bank building, and the staff is knowledgeable about each varying food item. The menu itself is well-balances and has a great entry point into certain foods, with tasting, half and full-portion options available.
Nothing is too wild and the subtlety of the menu is ripe for any occasion.
I use to live on west 6th. street and my parents banked at your place I remember standing in line at this bank with them, it brough back fond memories back in the old days. We really enjoyed ourselfs everything was just GREAT, the service, the drinks, the food and lets not forget the desserts. HAD A GREAT TIME........
Dante came recommended by a friend as a great restaurant...so, we tried it with freinds.
I could have eaten anything on the menu and been satisfied that I ordered "right."
Our waiter was completely knowledgeable of everything and gave his recommendations.
Dante has to be one of the best restaurants in Ohio.
We are anxious to return. Priced accordingly....
I have dined at Dante on various occasions.. This time I happen to be seated in the back room of the restaurant...very quiet and quaint... I had a situation where our entrees took extremely long to arrive (restaurant was busy although diners who were seated after us got served first). After finally receiving our food, the managers acknowledged the situation without us having to say anything and made sure than he knew he was aware of everything. Upon finishing dinner, our waiter kindly told us that "Dante" the owner said the bill is on him and to enjoy some desert. They comped the bill which I didn't expect them to do. The waitstaff and owner handled the situation in such a profession way. Very impressed. By the way, food was DELICIOUS!
My wife and I enjoyed our meal and didn't feel rushed which I was concerned about when the waitress asked us if we'd like to place our entree order at the same time of our appetizer. Our waitress assured us there would be time between the courses. She was just concerned about waiting because the kitchen was very busy. She was right. The calamari appetizer was very tasty and more than enough for two. The tasting side was also red bhutanese rice was also very good and generous in its appetizer portion size. The ribeye was good but a bit fatty but that's expected with that cut of meat. My wife had the spaghetti alla Norma as was enjoyable as well. It had been awhile since we'd been back but will no doubt be back again and this time sooner.
