Daniel's Broiler - Lake Union Ratings and Reviews
We reserved a table for two to celebrate my husband's birthday during our weekend trip to Seattle! Our server was Molly and she was phenomenal. She not only took care of each of our request she made us feel at home. I don't know when I'll make it back but when I do, I'll definitely be back!
We love Daniels but, this dinner wasn't as great. Right from the beginning, I felt that our servers impatience for us to get the order in. I wanted plain fingerling potatoes which were offered with the special salmon and was told no, they were portioned out. That's fine but he didn't want to work with me at all. One person's steak came our too rare and we all waited and waited for it to return cooked to his liking. My lamb chops were a bit tough and covered in butter, the fish special - black cod portion very small. This is "old-school" steak house but there wasn't anything very special about the experience except our dining partners and friends. I missed the piano bar that night too!
I'll be back though. I love the setting on Lake Union and maybe this was an "off" Saturday night.
What a great night! Got to the restaurant with ease, valet parking available for $8. Arrived 20 minutes early for our reservation so went to the bar for a drink. Spendy drinks but it's Daniel's!
Requested a view table when we made the reservation and got one. Food of course was delicious, recommend the bacon wrapped scallops and filet mignon. Service was spot on. Can't come here often because of the expense but for special occasions would definitely return.
The only negative thing was that the service charge is automatically charged to your bill at 20%. But in our case it didn't matter because we would have tipped the 20% anyway.
Have been going to Daniels forever. Always a good meal. This time service was slow - there over 3 hours. Our steaks where over cooked & Lamb was under cooked. If you ask for extra anchovies on your caesar salad they charge you and the spinach salad is getting smaller & smaller.
We went here for our anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint. The service is fantastic and the food is very good. The Oysters Rockefeller were amazing! Now you will spend quite a bit here but between the service and food its a great place for a special dinner!
I hosted a birthday. In general Daniel's was unprepared for the crowd that showed up since it was VIP night of the Seattle Boat show. The place was overrun despite our having a reservation for 630PM. Having gone to Daniel's since it opened I chose them over their equally priced locally owned steakhouses as they advertise often on TV they 'make it right'. Not this night! Bar service? dismal. Manhattan's ordered -one with lemon twist, one with a cherry, both up. Our lemon twist arrived as cherry on the rocks. We reordered - awkward - it took forever to begin with - the new drink never came - instead we got handed a slice of lemon - for our now melted Manhattan on the rocks - with a cherry still in it, left for us to deal with. Crafted cocktail? NOT.
We ordered lobster & french fries for $65.00. Filet - Oscar style- medium rare with baked potato, vegetables and a filet medium rare with vegetables, equally pricey.
The lobster arrived nearly raw & undercooked with unbelievably FROZEN french fires. Back to the kitchen. On re -arrival lobster now so overcooked it was inedible. The fries, stone cold. Didn't eat either. The Filet Oscar came with no Oscar. Back to the kitchen - another long pause - the Filet returned cold with the baked potato MIA. Meanwhile our third dining companion ate his steak before it got cold. Sensing our displeasure, our waiter sheepishly offered us free birthday dessert.
We asked for the manager who was solicitous and honest they were not 'on their game'.
Now 3+ hours in, and nearly $400 later, he offered to have our dinner re- prepared. Our companion had to go - after all HE'D eaten - but myself and our birthday guest decided to leave. No birthday candle this year! Solution? a reduced check for $100 + arrived. We paid it + generous tip most wouldn't, left hungry to stop at Dick's hamburgers. A competitor with an equal unrecoverable misfire night comp'd our group's entire tab AND gave me an equivalent $ gift card to reset our view.
We really enjoyed it I had the lamb chops and quite honestly they were the best I ever had. The manager was so nice to us and let us use the small room with the big screen TV to watch the New Orleans saints this past Monday night. They usually do a piano bar on Sunday and Monday night. When he found out we were saints fans and came there to watch the game he offered the room to us. I loved it and if I ever get back to Seattle I would definitely go
We had a wonderful date night meal at Daniel's. The food and wine were delicious, and our server, Tom was just outstanding! He offered suggestions and was very knowledgeable about the restaurant, menu and surrounding area. We had a delightful evening and enjoyed walking on the docks after dinner. Perfect!
The service in Seattle has really gone downhill with the mandatory 20% service charge. Our Daniels' waiter was surly. Like he had better things to do. I'm sure he did. Not sure I'll be going back. If I'm spending $300 for dinner, I'd kinda like to be taken care of.
The food quality was excellent. I had the Filet Mignon Flight and it was one of the best steaks I have ever had. The service was excellent. Our server was patient and very cooperative with my wife who is lactose intolerant, the food came out at a perfect pace and the drinks were excellent.
Thoroughly enjoyed our get together with good friends that we don't see enough of! The service was wonderful and attentive yet gave us plenty of space to chat and socialize.
We were seated as soon as we arrived and we were very pleased with the location of our table.
The food was good and the selection was plentiful. I ordered the stuffed salmon and it was a little overdone - I should have gone with my first instinct of the filet mignon. The rest of my meal and everyone else's was very good.
We all commented upon arrival how nice it was that Daniel's was still there after all these years! It would be nice if valet parking was free and the valets were tipped - like my favorite restaurant, Canlis'.
The server seemed new. She did not seem aware of what we needed just what she was trying to accomplish. Good effort, She just missed.
I was bummed that you were out of prime rib on a Friday??? Really.. Maybe you saved a few $$ by not having enough. How many customers did you disappoint?
I was also surprised that you added a 20% tip. That is usually what i leave. Just not for our server.... Just saying!! To be forewarned would have disarmed me..
This was a birthday dinner for my wife attended by ten family members. The food atmosphere and service were outstanding. We had a cruise on lake Union scheduled for after dinner and the wait staff insured we arrived on time. As always, Daniels is pricey, but the combination of this wonderful dinner and the boat cruise with family made for as most memorable birthday for my wife.
First, the service at Daniel's Broiler is exceptional. The entire staff was friendly, responsive, and made us feel very welcome. We've been to Daniel's several times, and each time we have been treated very well.
Unfortunately, the food was just okay, and the entire experience felt overpriced, from the parking to the menu to the forced 20% gratuity.
Although we had an enjoyable evening, it was not a truly special dining experience. And for the price we expected more. We'll most likely use our dining-out budget elsewhere in the future.
First time at Daniels. Took my wife there for our 1 year anniversary. I had high expectations for this restaurant, knowing their prices. I expected stellar service and the best steak I've ever eaten. This place lived up to my high expectations, I really enjoyed it. The price does seem a bit excessively high, but the 30oz rib-eye steak was absolutely perfect to split.
There a few minor unpleasantries such the tip of my steak knife was bent, the filling of my water glass was overly frequent, and neighboring tables were bordering on obnoxiously loud. Otherwise it was a fantastic experience. The food was phenomenal, while price it's nothing more expensive than your normal upscale restaurant, our server came by to check on us just enough and was incredibly friendly, portions were well sized and the meats were cooked quite well.
This is my second time at Daniels Broiler, I went to the Bellevue location first. The quality of service and food is exceptional at both. I like the clientele at the Lake Union location as far as dress up or dress elevated casual, not to the "nines" only, like how I feel at the Bellevue location, which I appreciate. I also like the convienece of the Lake Union location. Like I was saying the food and service was impeccable and I will definitely be retearning with more ambassadors for your brand.
This would have been a 5 star BUT . . . We made an early reservation on a Sunday night to ensure a great view seat for a special occasion . . . there were MANY tables with a great view available when we were seated at 5:15, But even though it was specified on the reservation that this was a special occasion AND even though I am a VIP Open Table customer, we were stuck at a table with NO VIEW . . . Throughout our dinner, those view tables sat empty, I am sorry to say that we will not be going back to this Daniels Restaurant anytime soon . . I complained privately to several people, but I did not want a fuss made in front of my party so that the event was further brought down!
The wait staff and the food was excellent, such a shame regarding this Daniel's front desk policy brought everyone else down
We went an hour early to enjoy happy hour drinks in the bar. The waitress left my drink empty for 20 minutes and only came back when my table was ready. I asked if they could bring the new drink to my table and they refused, quite rudely. I was pretty disappointed considering the level of courtesy and service you expect at this type of restaurant. The waitress at dinner was the only thing that turned our experience around - we would have left MUCH lower ratings otherwise.
Been quite a few times in the past. Still very reliable, very nice restaurant and still very expensive, but seems even more this time around! I wonder if Schwartz Bros. is pricing this establishment too expensive for the average Seattle dining type to afford? Bar scene is vibrant as always but dining area wasn't very crowded.
The service in the bar was excellent but the service in the dining room was not. We had to ask for water to be refilled and requested a bread refill but was not received. I complained to our waiter that we felt neglected! The filet I had was just ok and was $60! MY friend had the pork chop that was excellent. What had previously been our go-to special occasion ( we were celebrating 3 birthdays) restaurant was a big disappointment for a $350 bill!
