Specifically indicated in my reservation the occasion was anniversary. The first question I was asked when checking in is what the occasion was! Apparently my message did not come through to Daniel's system! Nothing special was offered to us given when they knew what the occasion was! So why ask for occasion in the first place on both online reservation and at the front desk! Was very disappointing to me in that regards. Other than that we enjoyed a good dinner and the server was very attentive and friendly.
I had called to confirm a certain type of whiskey for a friend..they said yes they have it-when we got there and ordered they said they were out. He then ordered another bev off menu...they were out of that tequila also.
Asked about crab cakes....said took off menu-
The salmon was farmed from another country..not even local and wild-no taste to it..we were hoping to have a new place to attend...vs el gaucho but very disappointed. The steaks had to be sent back for more cooking time..then was too done.....
I'm so done with Daniels. Another 40 minute wait to be seated. What good are reservations? Young blond woman at front desk was shockingly rude. Steaks are absolutely top notch BUT....I can find (almost) just as good elsewhere without all the baggage, at half the price, and without having to park a mile underground forced to take two elevators to get there. (we dined 2/16/18 7:45 res)
This was the second time (visit to Daniel’s) that the Maitre’d took forever to handle our reservation (we were on time), left us standing in the middle of a busy thoroughfare, being bumped by waiters, carts and other guests. After more than 5 very uncomfortable minutes a host that had been standing next to the Maitre’d all this time with our menus in hand, took us to a very noisy busy area and our table.
The table was located next to a bussing station with enormous traffic, chairs being carried around and constant interruption by a slew of waitstaff.
While the food is always good the ambiance and service is well subpar.
My next business dinner will be in a different restaurant.
It has been years since we visited Daniels in Bellevue. We chose to return on Valentines. As one would expect the place was packed and crazy busy. Glad to have made reservations a couple months in advance.
We were seated at a very nice table for two on a west facing windows with great views of the mountains and skyline. Given the way the restaurant is configured, tables and booths are laid out in a way that only a few are visible from any given location. So dining is a relatively private experience.
The evening started sweet and chaotic at the same time. It was sweet because the bouquet of flowers that I had delivered was beautiful and fragrant as well as awaiting us at our table when we arrived. Chaotic because the gift that I had had delivered to also be on the table was missing. Fortunately, Daniels' concierge was able to work with the dress shop downstairs at the Hyatt lobby (where I had purchased the gift) to recover nicely and deliver the gift (albeit a bit late).
Our dining started off with the prawn cocktail. Wow, we had never seen prawns that big. 4 of them were just right for us to start.
I had the whiskey crab soup next. In a wonderful touch the soup bowl was delivered empty (except for the crab scattered about the bottom) and then the soup was poured into the bowl at our table. Great idea to keep the crab from getting rubbery. My wife's spinach salad was likewise nicely done.
Daniels wine list is not for the faint of heart - very extensive and priced at the higher end of wine lists we've seen over the decades. We ended up with a super Tuscan red for $80 - mid range price on their wine list.
Our main course was the Flight of Filet Mignon - 3 four ounce cuts of filet - accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes. Superbly tender and wonderfully tasteful.
Couldn't resist a dessert. Chocolate covered strawberries for her and a coconut fudge sundae for me - simply super.
Most expensive dinner out we have had that I can recall. Worth it for my Valentine.
Went on Valentine's day for our anniversary which happens to be the day after valentines. I have been to this place before and was more impressed in the past. In particular, the steak was sub-par as the same order between my wife's and mine came out seared very differently. There was very little garlic or butter flavoring and the steak was tough, even though it was medium rare. The humorous part of the evening though was that the tables were so wobbly most patrons around us had problems with them, at least three couples were moved to find new tables. It was as if the backup tables meant to cover the valentines day rush were either not setup properly or should have been retired a long time before.
Went for Valentines Day Lunch, since they were booked for dinner. Had to wait 15 minutes after the Reservation time. The irony was that when I made the order I asked if I should make it 15 minutes earlier so I could be seated on time - LOL. The server was not very good. She wanted to come back to take the order (not at this time?) but I said can you take our appetizer order now, which she did. She asked if we wanted bread, said yes. She never brought the bread, in fact we never really saw her. Someone else brought the steaks and the appetizer. She showed up after we were done eating and I told her she never brought the bread and reminded her that I told her we really only come for the bread and the food is extra (joking, but said seriously). She then asked if I wanted her to still bring the bread..??... Told her -we're done and want desert. If a Manager had stopped at the table to ask about the meal, I would have shared this with them. Now on to the food: The deep fried Artichoke hearts are really good; The steaks were cooked perfectly and tasted great. The desert was good but too much for one and we should have shared. Considering it was about a $200 lunch, the service should have been better and sort of took away from an excellent meal/experience. We go here a couple times a year and this was not normal.
We went for Valentine's. 2 Martinis and an appetizer each in the bar first.$100
Dinner was soup,steak and dessert.
Clam chowder was 5 star, french onion was 5 star. 12 oz tenderloin was just okay. Cooked to medium rare but lacking flavor.
My 30 ounce Ribeye was cooked rare. It was boring and had two spots of grizzle that I could barely cut through. I have had better Choice cuts ftom QFC and this was supposed to be Prime. Send it back? by the time you get a new one your partner is finished. Steak wasnt worth the money.
Desert was coconut ice cream. 5 stars.
If I was to eat here again I would have clam chowder for an appetizer and another bowl for dinner. We had a nice bottle of Delille D2.
Dinner with Tip was $360. We will just go to the bar next time. Birthday in 2 weeks so we both agreed that it was time for John Howie. Hope they have a good steak.
The first table we were seated at had the two of us sitting very far apart - enough that we couldn't hear each other talk with the noise level, and definitely not close enough to feel romantic.
It took quite a while to have our water glasses filled, but this gave us a chance to get re-seated when we were able to catch a hostess seating someone else. The lighting was not dim enough to be romantic - not bright, but not what we'd expect for Valentine's day or a nice steakhouse in general.
Service was generally slow - we watched two other tables around us who were seated after us get their food before us. Our server did not even offer to refill our sodas until the meal was finished, despite them being empty long before that. Wine by the glass was enjoyable.
The steaks were decent, though we couldn't see a difference between our two - one cooked medium and the other medium rare. The server requested we cut into the middle of our steaks upon serving them to ensure they were done correctly - this should not be required at a steakhouse and ruins the presentation!
Valentine's Day never a good time to dine out due to greater demand, but did not expect tables that were too tippy to use and crammed into less space than in a cheap diner. Food was high quality, service okay but not to usual standards. Sacrificed quality of experience for profit by packing too many into the restaurant.
My wife and I went to Daniel's Broiler for Valentine's Day dinner. This is one of their busiest nights, so I don't know how reflective our experience would be for a typical evening. I'm not certain of this, but it appears as though they open up additional rooms that might typically be used for private events. Our dining room was somewhat brightly lit, but with a very nice view of Bellevue from the 21st floor of the Bank of America building (if you are lucky enough to be seated by a window). We were initially offered a long, narrow rectangular table. This seemed like a very odd table for a romantic dinner as we'd have to talk loudly to hear each other. There were at least half a dozen empty round tables for two in the room. The hostess obligingly found us another table nearby. We were amused to see that several of the other couples were laughing because some of the tables were wobbly, and one guest suggested putting napkins under the table legs. I had to lean on my side of the table whenever my wife cut into her steak to avoid having my plate bounce up into the air. I think that these ables are brought out of storage on busy nights. Perhaps things are better in the main dining room.
Our server was very professional and attentive, offering excellent advice. My wife's prime rib was cooked to perfection. My steak, however, was clearly overcooked. I felt terrible about sending it back, but the server told me not to worry at all (agreeing that it was not how I had ordered it) and a new steak was prepared perfectly. I hate to send food back and worry about the waste, but when spending this amount of money at a place that specializes in steak, I probably would have felt worse paying for an overcooked meal. The sides (baked potato and creamed spinach) were excellent. We dined here once before and had a great experience all around. So it may be best to avoid Daniel's on Valentine's Day. Perhaps we'll try it again on our anniversary.
We went on a Monday night with a 7:00 reservation expecting that ambient noise and crowdedness would be at a minimum which it seemed not to be... At 7:20 we were finally seated and proceeded with our dinner order. Ambiance and staff were good, the food was good but certainly not at the level I expected. We had a great scallop appetizer followed by Filet and Ribeye steak dinners. The Fillet was well prepared and a nice cut of meat, the Ribeye was thin and rather fatty all the way through. I've definitely had much better 75 dollar steaks.
We departed with some confusion on the use and applicability of their gift cards spending more out of pocket than expected. Honestly I may only go back to utilize the last of the gift card which was returned unused with no explanation...
I dined frequently at Daniels with family and clients before retirement. My memories are very good and that is one reason we had high expectations but were disappointed. The clientele was less than elegant and they were very loud. Our table was in a hallway. No view. My wife's steak was rare, she ordered medium. My steak was medium, I ordered medium-rare. There is no Prosecco at the bar menu and my wife's drink did not arrive until we reminded the waiter.
We go to Daniel's quite often. We were there celebrating my wife's birthday. It was quite busy so we were unable to get a booth as requested. We were seated by a window next to four men who were extremely loud and rude. This pretty much ruined the dinner from the start. The service was very slow. There was no bread to start off the evening and when they finally got some bread out of the oven and delivered it to our table, it was not fresh bread, so not sure why they claimed some was coming fresh out of the oven. Also the butter was hard.
It was a bit disappointing overall.
My wife and I were there for my birthday and we were celebrating Valentine's day early. We were in the bar first before the table was ready and it was a seamless transition between our bar bill and our table. My wife's scallops were not exactly right to her taste, so the manager took them away and the kitchen staff customized the cooking process to remove the unsavory taste - that is amazing customer service. Then the manager checked back later, along with the server to make sure that we were happy.
Very good steak, clam chowder was good, but overpriced all around. I can get as good or better for less than half the price.
And instead of centering all tables in a window, many of them were placed half and half, spoiling the view.
Could be better operated and less pretentious; they seem to be catering to the over-paid business crowd who don't have too any options.
