Dancing Marlin Ratings and Reviews
The food and drinks are very good. BUT, we received emails stating the dueling pianos were playing on Jan. 18th. We arranged our work schedules and made reservations. I even called the manager and he confirmed it. When we arrived, we discovered the pianos were now changed to the following week. This is the second time this has happened to us! Whoever does their marketing needs to step up their game!
My husband & I dined at the DM on NYE. What a spectacular evening we had! A great restaurant to finish up our last meal of 2017. From the moment we walked in, to our service, to the great shareable dishes, the experience was spot on, start to finish. The place was jumping, but that didn’t slow any the pacing of food or the quality of the service. We started with tap wine. We’ve never had a bad glass from the tap wine. Fresh as can be!
We did fresh oysters, crazy good scallops, and turkey meatballs that could have passed for the best Italian meatballs we could have ever had and gluten free! Our last main was the NY strip cooked to a perfect medium rare! My hubby who’s a big Gibson’s fan, was blown away by the steak. Wow! Then we finished with pumpkin cheesecake bites. Just the right finish for a dessert!
For a a NYE, we couldn’t have had better service, food or overall experience. We’ve been there before and DM just keeps getting better & better!!!
We made early reservations intentionally to avoid NYE crowds. Upon arriving at the restaurant we were shown to our table, between the only two other occupied tables at the restaurant. We asked to be seated a table over, and the hostess stated they couldn’t because they were fully booked. The food was fine. I very much would have liked to be able to have a conversation with my wife, but couldn’t because of the loud person at the table next to us. When we were finished, the table we asked to be moved to was still empty. I understand it gets busy during special occasions, but the refusal of a simple request ended up ruining our meal. I think we won’t be coming back for a while.
My wife and I came here for an 8:30p reservation between Christmas and New Years. The table they offers us was in a bad spot near the hostess stand by the front door, so we opted to sit at the bar which was nearly empty. We thought would get faster service at the bar, but nope. There was only one bartender, plus a second person that was kind of just there but not really helping, making drinks for the whole place. Since the food here is in smaller portions, similar to a Tapas bar, you need to order multiple times during the meal which was difficult in this situation. Semi busy employees distracting the busy bartender with idle chit chat was aggravating as we were trying to get her attention to order. The whole operation seemed unmanaged.
We had a very enjoyable Christmas Eve dinner at the Dancing Marlin. The food was excellent! Only complaints; 1.) We sat near the front door and even with the airlock/double doors there was a constant cold draft, 2.) The dish that we'd ordered for my oldest son took the longest and he's picky, so didn't have anything to eat until his dish finally arrived. ( I know, partially HIS problem.) They removed the charge for that dish from the bill, which was nice.
It was way too easy to add dishes and by the time we were done eating and 2 glasses of wine added to the bill, it was more money than we'd ever spent for a meal. Still, the food was some of the best we'd ever had. Definitely only a place for special occasions.
Overall, everything was great. It was kind of hard to talk though due to the live music/entertainment going on. Great idea to have a dueling pianos night, but I didn’t know that when I made my reservation. Had I known in advance I probably would have dined in on a different night.
Good food and great wine! Our waitress rushed us and was coming over way too often to get us to order and be done. She took our plates and gave us the check before we even decided we were done. We decided to be done after that anyway. I’d still go back, but hopefully not be rushed next time.
Charming nautical decor. Creative tapas menu with several larger options
Awesome chicken nibbles, sesame tuna, General Tso cauliflower, garlic shrimp. All highly recommended. Nice selection of fresh oysters. Excellent Creme Brûlée and chocolate cookie with ice cream.
Fun trying the variety of creative tapas on the menu. This is particularly fun with a large group.
Went with the grandkids-5 and 1. Very kid friendly. Pleasant, friendly service.
Will return to try more of the tapas.
We have recently discovered Dancing Marlin and it quickly has become one of our favorite restaurants. We love the small plate experience and the food is excellent. We brought neighbors with us this time and we were able to order more choices to try since we had four in our party. The only drawback for me is the noise level in the restaurant when it’s crowded. It’s hard to have a conversation and at times it’s hard on the ears . All in all though, we love the restaurant and we will be back often.
This place offers great food that places nearby can't compete with. We waited an hour which was a bit long, the lobby is not big enough to hold all the people waiting. We were also seated next to a 40 year old birthday party, which was extremely loud and obnoxious. We could not ever hear each other. Management should have stepped in and reminded the people we are in a restaurant, not someone's personal home.
