Dancing Marlin Ratings and Reviews
Our server was enthusiastic, friendly, and knowledgeable of the selections. The selections were varied and delicious. The following are recommendations: Korean bbq Shrimp, Little Bite Chicken Fried, Spicy Garlic Shrimp, Chopped Salad, Shrimp & Chorizo tacos, and the Pizza on the children's menu.
Not real impressed to be honest. Entrance/waiting area VERY cramped and not well laid out. Hostess seemed to be a bit flustered with the amount of customers.
Once seated, service was pretty good. Many of their drinks are pre-made and they taste pre-made. Would not order one of the spigot drinks again.
Food was OK but nothing really noteworthy or outstanding.
Probably will not bothering going again.
Had 3 people and all 3 had to get the brunch special or not at all. Is a small restaurant thought it would be easy enough to "catch" someone sharing - severely limited the options for the table as plenty of food was offered with the brunch. Enjoyed the breakfast tacos but they were "out" of seafood guac that was apparently featured on Check Please and server said they were not making more ? this was at 1030 am . Food was very good except for the biscuits which were under done and grey in color on the inside - possibly leftover dough? I would like to try again so I could try other options on the menu. Great toppings were offered on the bloody mary bar especially the shrimp.
Always a great experience at Dancing Marlin! Having lived in the city forever, this is such a refreshing find amongst the Chili's and Applebee's. Great food, with plenty of options, and all served tapas style, making it a great opportunity to try many different things. Our favorite was shockingly the General Tso's Chicken- soo good. This place is a must try!
I’ve driven past this place many times. It is the epitome of neighborhood gem. We looked at the reviews and took a chance. Our entire party loved it! We had vegetarians, pescatarians, and those with no restrictions in our group. There was something for everyone. Also, the drinks were amazing! Outstanding service and energetic ambiance as well.
Been here many times - This experience right on par. Server Rick was a little slow to start as he was training a new server. But he picked it up. Suggestions of scallops was delicious and loving that the seafood guacamole has reappeared, although the addition of shrimp instead of just using crab was a twist. Liked the pumpkin Pierogi as well!
I recommended Dancing Marlin to my friends for a birthday dinner and I could tell that everyone was a little apprehensive, like I was the first time I was invited there, but everyone loved it! We have some picky eaters in the group but everyone found things they loved on the menu. The tapas style is great for groups and the drinks were amazing. I would recommend Dancing Marlin to anyone!
They had a dueling pianos the night we went and they were great. The food was amazing!!! Right when you walk in the door the service was great from the hostess to the wait staff. The waiter knew the menu and what to recommend. We really liked the seasonal items on the menu. It is a great place we are going back for sure!!!
This was my second time to The Dancing Marlin. I wish I could have experienced dining upstairs on either visit; but we have been banned to the basement each time. The food is excellent and the wine list is very good. We had a 7:30pm reservation on Friday Night and the weather was 73 degrees, when we asked if we could be seated outside we were told that the patio had already been closed. Big Disappointment. Our server was very inattentive, it took forever for him to come and initiate our dining experience, and this continued through the night. we saw 4 tables around us celebrate birthdays with a candle in their dessert; we mentioned that we were celebrating a guests birthday as well and did not receive the same treatment. Again disappointing. When we were done it took 20 minutes for him to pick up our credit card for payment, we felt ignored by him. We will return because the food is outstanding, but hopefully we won't have the same server.
We made a reservation for 2pm not realizing that the dinner menu started at 3pm. The chef told the waitress that we could be accommodated, though. I had been there a month or so ago and ordered scallops and thought they were good but had to share with friends because this restaurant is that type of restaurant. I believe their called Tappas meals. You share with your table. I only got to eat one of the four scallops on my plate so that was the reason for my return.....to get a full order for myself. Unfortunately, they weren't as I remembered. They were brown but didn't seem cooked. And some sauce that was on them made them too hot. I took them home to eat the next day, wiping off the sauce.
They have delicious fries with shallots on top with some type of dressing on the side for dipping. Loved this dish. My husband ordered a steak that was cooked as he requested, medium well. He ordered mushrooms but there were only a few on the plate. Overall, dishes here are on the small side.
The restaurant is very nice and the service was very good. The food is pricey for the amount of food you get but we knew that beforehand.
The selection and food here is great, options for everyone. My party of three had the catch of the day tacos which was Alaskan trout, the chopped salad, shrimp and grits, the fried chicken and pickles and pork belly. The cocktails (they’re strong) and wine are all on tap so you’re not waiting forever for your drinks. It’s a bit loud in the main dining room but a bit quieter in some of the other spaces. Just a fun night out with great flavors!
Great ambiance! Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Be prepared for a short wait even with a res..but definitely worth it! Super cute patio area, too. Can't wait to go back for more! Try the fried kale(I know..just TRY it!) and end with the creme brûlée !
This place is consistently wonderful! We are patrons typically once a week, sometimes bi-weekly. We love the yummy food and huge amount of gluten free options for myself (allergy). We recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and an awesome atmosphere!
Kitchen “lost” our ticket. Took 15 minutes just to be greeted. Another 15 to get drinks. We were there for 45 minutes with no food. Asked for bread 4 times before we got it and then were charged for it. We were charged twice for one entrees- so upset we just paid and left. The table next to us sent their check back 3 times just to get it right. We will not be back.
We enjoy Dancing Marlin and like to get here every few months. Food again was very good and flavorful. Service was a little shaky or not up to par. For example they were out of the first bourbon I ordered one of the more expensive ones. OK ordered bourbon no. 2 but got charged for no. 1. Adjustment was made with no problem. Went to wine later and had to wait as they kept running out of clean wine glasses. Waitress takes orders and food is delivered by others. Most of the time the deliverers are not certain what table to deliver to. We received all of our food and timely, warm and flavorful, but a lot of drive byes with others orders. For dessert we ordered creme brulee. It was the most "liquid" creme breulee I ever had. Also initially two were delivered we only ordered one. So they gave us one. Minutes later the waitress arrived at the table next to us and delivered one creme brulee to that table indicated they ran out and the two were to have been delivered to them but came to us, which we took our one, left them one. The table was OK, the waitress offered another for free but they were good with only one. Tasted OK but not typical creme brulee consistency. Will return but a little less than the usual good service this time.
