This is the first time I’ve been to Dancing Marlin where I had a poor experience. All the other times I’ve dined there have been fine. Unfortunately this time, it was not good. It first started when I received the wine I ordered in a very visible dirty wine glass. There were greasy finger prints all along the glass. I asked for a new glass from who appeared to be a food runner because I couldn’t find our server (I’m sure he was busy though since it was a Saturday evening). I received my new glass of wine and that one was fine. The appetizers were brought out quickly and were good. No problems there. My boyfriend and I each ordered the special that night, which was a surf and turf. I ordered the filet medium well with the lobster tail, and he ordered the filet medium rare with the crab legs. For the price you pay for that dish, you would expect that it would be done correctly. Sadly, both of our steaks were undercooked, mine was more rare to medium rare and my boyfriend’s was practically raw. I asked the server if I could have mine fixed. My boyfriend just kept his. The server said yes and took the first steak. The second steak, which I believe was just the first one again, came back to me exactly the same. I then said something to a manager. She offered to have them cook me a new one. Honestly I was kind of over it at this point, but she was trying to make it right, so I said fine. The third steak came back, yet again, the exact same! I was shocked. At that point the manager took my meal off the bill, which I appreciated. I had just signed up for their emails, and they emailed me an offer for a free a dessert. I didn’t even want to be there anymore as I was frustrated at that point, so we left without dessert. I’ve always ordered their share plates every other time I’ve been there, except for my friend’s dinner reception for her wedding last fall. If I return, I’ll just stick to ordering their shared plates because my first experience ordering an entree was awful.

Enjoyed our food, drinks, and service. Only issue is seating.
Not COVID safe when you seat 7 couples in a very small area.

We had the chopped salad which was huge and tasty and the halibut dinner which was also a large portion and perfectly done. For two people it was more than enough food. We also had well made cocktails: Bombay Sapphire Martini up and a rum mule. we prefer to dine later when it is less crowded but sometimes specials are sold out. One of our go to places for gluten free dining.

Unfortunately my experience was not good today. I meet a friend for lunch today as I wanted her to try the impossible burger that I really enjoyed last week. The burger was extremely salty. I was disappointed that the restaurant didn’t really do anything to really compensate in regards to our concern for the meal. I felt like they could’ve done a little something. We also didn’t get much feedback from the kitchen in regards to why the onions in the meat were extremely salty.

We went here for a date night and sat in the outside patio which has a nice ambiance. We got out drinks and the martini was half full, the waitress took it back to the bartender and the bartender insisted it was Poured in the right amount! They gave us half a drink. Also the halibut was overcooked, shrimp tostadas were just okay. My husband did like the
Bone marrow. Not worth the money.

I have been to Dancing Marlin many times, and enjoyed the experience. This time, our waiter was not very good and seemed like he was either pre-occupied or just not really wanting to be there.

The Halibut special could have been tasty had it been hot.

Bottom line... it was $130 I would have rather spent elsewhere.

Not likely to go back there for quite awhile.

The perfect date night location. When dining at a restaurant we have never been to, we like to share several small plates to try a variety of menu items. We had about five different items and each one was spectacular!! Our favorite was the Tso's Cauliflower. We have a gluten free daughter...I would say over half the menu offered gluten free options. Can't wait to go back!!

We have dined here plenty of times, but we're majorly disappointed with our most recent visit. Our service was terrible. It set the mood for the whole evening. It took 10 minutes to order drinks and they were quite small. It took another 15 minutes to get the bottle of wine we ordered. We usually love the oysters but they were mediocre at best. The garlic shrimp were great. Unfortunately, all the waiting and the subpar meal really put a damper on our favorite date night spot in the suburbs.

Excellent service and prompt seating. The only thing I was disappointed in was the update to the Gnudi recipe. It was not as tasty as the previous dish which had andouille sausage and a different sauce. The new version was awful.

Myself and my daughter both vegetarian decided to give it a try as someone recommended the general tsio cauliflower. Maybe if it wasn’t so dry we may have enjoyed it? She ordered ratatouille. It’s spices were something that would have went well with pasta but having sweet potato’s in it was way to clashing of flavors. The vegetarian tacos I thought were decent but the impossible meat was cooked to jerky texture. The last dish was the Brussel sprouts. Very bitter. I normally don’t write reviews because we usually find something to eat we enjoy anywhere even being vegetarians. We weren’t going to ask about dessert nor to go boxes but we did pack up the leftovers for our son and fiancé to try to see if it was just us and our taste buds as they have more open eating tastes. They agreed with us. I feel horrible giving such a review but I feel I must be honest on our part. I know many people love your dishes because it was packed. It just wasn’t for us

The wine is excellent and the service is efficient and friendly. They observed all COVID protocols and delivered a safe and fun experience for me, my husband, and our friends.

Each dish we selected was exceptional. We enjoyed the chopped salad, the pig & fig, not yo daddy’s Mac & fried chicken. For dessert we had the cannoli cheesecake and ice cream cookie, which were also delicious. Our waiter Shawn was very friendly and extremely attentive & made the experience a perfect one! Really wowed our out of town guests.

The food is always good. We enjoy both dinner and their brunch menu - and for being a tapas place, we always have plenty of food without ordering everything on the menu. Service has been slow most times we are there. We often wait for drinks, food and the check for longer than we should (Perhaps shortstaffed for COVID?). Otherwise, enjoy our visits.
