Father’s Day ... very hot outside, difficult to get a consistent, comfortable temp inside. It was warm. Food was awesome - flavors, quantity and variety were really good. Bloody Mary’s were yummy!!
Was disappointed in the value of the food. It was brunch and it was $27 per adult and $16 for children. They charged my 3 y/o $16 and all he ate was fruit and a waffle. It was disappointing. Very hot in there too. Had to wait to get silverware and napkins. food was on the table but we did not have utensils.
Excellent Father’s Day brunch! Great food and great service!
chicken & pickles ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Too hot for outdoor seating
As always the food and service were outstanding. The menu changes regularly, taking advantage of fresh seasonal ingredients.
This was our first time and we were celebrating our anniversary. The tables were too close together. Food was ok....too spicy for my taste. It was just ok but not worth going back for.
Tasty food! We had the chopped salad, halibut, and the cab chicken.
This restaurant is all of the above. Top 10. 5 stars
We had family visiting from out of town and brought them here. Two in our party were gluten free and one was a vegetarian. We had no problems accommodating them. Our server even offered to bring out some gluten free chips so one of our gluten free diners was able to try the bone marrow! The plate sharing allowed everyone to pick a different dish that all were then able to try, so the meal itself was much more social than a traditional dinner. Our teenage boys tried dishes that they normally never would have! Our guests raved about the food and our whole party had a memorable evening. We highly recommend!
Loved the experience. The service wasn't that great but it might have been an off night. The busboy brought out my entree while we were still enjoying our appetizers so my meal was cold by the time my boyfriends entree was brought out, about 15 mins later. Other than the service being off, we would definitely come back! The salmon was amazing.
It’s such a great dining experience and the food is excellent! Give it a try!
Restaurant charges for every single thing including butter. Don’t be fooled by them telling you it’s enough to share. Steak 16 oz was cut in 10 small pieces for $40 dollars. Drinks were weak and served in any glass that was available. All food needed seasoning minus what’s spicy 🌶
I hope the brunch is better
The menu is so creative. There is so much on there I'd normally never think to try, but their chefs are masters at making different, inventive dishes. Their fried green tomato sliders are to die for, and I don't even like tomatoes! Our favorite dish tonight was the fried cauliflower. Absolutely amazing. The service is great and the atmosphere is casual yet perfect for date night. We don't get out much by ourselves, but when we do we almost always come here.
Great food and service. Cocktails are perfect every time!
Becky was great!
Came in the other night with my wife on a friends recommendation and boy we are glad we did!
We were blown away by how this up beat, little suburban location had such a big city feel. We tried a number of dishes, each one better than the next. We enjoyed the cauliflower - just enough spice, the crab stuffed peppers - crazy delicious , scallops - better than most in the city, and the pork belly - one of my personal favorites. My only regret of the evening was not getting in early enough for what looked like amazing patio seating. I would recommend going with friends so that you can sample more dishes. We already have our list picked out for next visit - the bone marrow. Special thank you to Mandy, she did an exceptional job at making our experience memorable.
We had a great time celebrating birthdays. Brittney our server was awesome. Lots of fun!!
Excellent Food, Excellent Wine and Friendly Service
The food and service were great. The restaurant was very warm.
Food was great, as usual. Server was more abrupt and short than usual, but overall fine. Had coffee after on the lovely patio. Coffee was almost room temp. For some reason was not awarded my points by open table.😕
Dancing Marlin is great! Food was wonderful, the service was excellent, the place was very nice and clean. The only complaint we had was the noise level. It gets pretty loud on a weekend night. Other than that it is worth checking out for sure!
There was no way that this place was going to live up to the reviews we received from a bunch of friends that already had experienced it but it was all that and more. It was our 44th Wedding Anniversary and we wanted to go someplace new and special and we hit the jackpot. Lots of fun at this unique dining experience and we will be back soon. Service was extra friendly and very efficient. Even got to know 2 strangers next to us because of the atmosphere. Try it-you'll like....err LOVE it!
Had high hopes for date night. We should’ve known when a stench swept the patio the experience wouldn't be Great. We ordered drinks a beer& a mojito. The mojito was very much my speed, weak and tasted like juice. For 8.50 there sure was a lot of ice. Next we ordered the peamole, pork belly, chicken skewers, & spicy garlic shrimp. Everything came out very fast! The peaguac was so bland, needed lime juice. The pork belly was more like a thin Porkchop with a very thin layer of crispy fat. The more crispy parts tasted the best, the slaw was julienne carrots. The chicken tasted good and the sauce was ok but one skewer was slightly under done and another had a portion that was completely raw. I told the waitress and she seemed shocked and took it away... she then comes back and gives us the opinion of the chef and said it was fine it was a blood vein... Hi I'm 36 and have grilled plenty of boneless skinless chicken thighs, I know the difference! The chicken portion was straight up raw in 2 separate spots. Frankly I found it insulting!! Then she goes on to say we could have another skewer if we wanted... uh ok sure. We then order one last dish the meatballs. After we questioned the chicken the replacement and the meatballs took forever to come out. When the lone skewer made its way out they didn't even give the sauce with it so my husband asked for it and by the time she brought it out the chicken was cold. The shrimp was oily¬ enough flavor. The meatballs were my favorite so flavorful. When the bill came it was for everything we ordered so we gave our card to pay the bill. The bill by the way didn't even come in a bill folder not a big deal but we were outside and there was some wind. When she brought back the paid check it was obvious they then took off several items. Which we NEVER asked for. The gesture would have went A LOT farther had she apologized for the chicken and brought out a replacement and said it would be taken off the bill.
I brought a business friend for dinner after having been there for a meal in the past with my brother. My brother has celiac disease and this is one of the few restaurants that he can go to for gluten-free food and no cross-contamination. My friend and I enjoyed a three hour leisurely dinner (week-day and early) in the lovely outdoor space. We shared 4 small plates and enjoyed them all immensely: chicken thigh kabobs, kale chips, deep fried cauliflower and spicy shrimp. All were terrific and creative. With two glasses of good, but affordable wine our entire bill with tax and tip was about $75. This is a hidden gem and definitely worth traveling to.
This was such a pleasant surprise! The food was out of sight! We live quite a distance from the restaurant but we will make the trip again!!
Rachel was very attentive, pleasant & would go back & ask for her & will tell my friends.
Always a fun way to dine with friends and a group. So many new dishes to try.
A friends Birthday
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the south suburbs. The dishes are great and are updated occasionally (some updates unfortunately aren't as good as the originals such as the meatballs or gnudi). Favorite dishes are the fried kale, fries, burger, and bone marrow.
Service can be hit or miss - there are some amazing waitresses but our last trip had a waiter that was not attentive and made a passive aggressive comment to my husband as he handed him the dessert menu (alluding to him wanting dessert because he was the largest person in the group).
Go for the food, but don't expect great service.
Initially we had a hard time with the Hostess givng us a good table even tho we were ther at 5:30pm and had a reservation. There were open tables all over but she had all kinds of excuses. I insisted. Rick was our waiter and he was excellent and had wonderful suggestions. The food was outstanding....everything was sooooo interesting and tasty. Wil totally be coming back and bringing friends here.
Great food great service. Great birthday celebration
Love Dancing Marlin!
Great everything nothing bad about this place highly recommended
Awesome!!! One of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at!
We always have a fantastic experience here.. Unfortunately today it fell short. Brunch menu was very limited and lacking flavor. Our desert was served to us frozen and for people who don't eat meat there was not much to enjoy.
I've gone to Dancing Marlin every year for the past 3 years to celebrate Mother's Day brunch. This year, when I saw they were serving a set 3-course meal instead of the usual tapas, I was a bit wary, but was willing to give it a try as I have always been pleasantly surprised by the options provided at Dancing Marlin. However, I am saddened to say that this is the first time I've been truly disappointed by Dancing Marlin. It was $25 per person for the 3 course meal and the food was not served with any logical pairings (ex. the 3rd course was kielbasa sausage and ham with no eggs or potatoes to complement them). Everything was breakfast food, minus a mac and cheese dish. Some of the food that came out was cold and all of it was mediocre food that I could have prepared, possibly better, myself. Aside from my disappointment in the food, the service was great - very efficient and friendly. This one bad experience isn't going to make me change my opinion of Dancing Marlin or hinder me from going again in the future, but I really hope they revert their Mother's Day brunch in the future to the original menu to showcase what they're truly capable of.
The restaurant changed up the Mother's Day Brunch format, you know longer could order off the menu which we have done the past two years and really enjoyed our experience. What was offered this year at $25 per person was a pre-set breakfast menu, all you can eat family style. There were three "courses" with several different plates brought out on each course (example: One course was biscuits and gravy, French toast, etc......normal breakfast fare). After the three courses (the last of the three courses was ham and kielbasa sausage only), tiramisu and coffee was brought out.
None of the dishes were outstanding, or even very good. Most were average to below average. You can get a much better French toast, or scrambled eggs at a local breakfast establishment.
As we had 9 adults, ages 19-80, no one was overjoyed with the food.
Service by our waitress Lexy was very good. No complaints at all.
We would go back to this restaurant but NEVER FOR MOTHER'S DAY. There are many other Mother's Day brunch options available where the variety and quality are much better.
We are never disappointed when we leave Dancing Marlin. It's our favorite restaurant in the area! We went for Mother's Day brunch and it was delicious. The staff is always accommodating and the food is always top notch. The specialty drinks and the Bloody Mary bar we're awesome!
