Dancing Marlin Ratings and Reviews
Love that the menu changes regularly. We make a point to try something new every time we visit. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable about the food.
Dancing Marlin also periodically hosts special events like Oktoberfest and Taste of New Orleans that offer diners a wonderful selection of theme based cuisine and cocktails.
I love Dancing Marlin! It has such a lively fun ambiance. The food and drinks are delicious. This time I had shrimp and grits and wish the shrimp were cooked a little more as they tasted a little underdone. Everything else was perfect! I'd love to come on a day they have live music. So happy this is in our area!
We love the atmosphere. It’s romantic and modern. The service is outstanding there! The food is amazing. It’s always hot and very fresh. The drinks are unique and tasteful! It’s by far our favorite restaurant around! We would go there every day if we could! We highly recommend this restaurant.
This was our first time at the Dancing Marlin and we will definitely be back! We went on a Wednesday night and had no problem getting our reserved table on time. The waitress was awesome - she took her time explaining how everything worked and was very prompt in revisiting our table to see how we were liking everything and if we were ready to order more. Our food came out very quickly each time. We loved everything we tried (highly recommend the beet salad - I love beets and it was the best I've had - the fig reduction is to die for!) and can't wait to go back and sample the items we didn't get to try the first time.
We finally made our reservation & dined at the Dancing Marlin. Wow!!! The place was a sea of people, but all seemed to be having a great time. Having done my due diligence, we had a wish list of all items to try. I’m a bourbon drinker, so I started with the Old Fashioned on tap. A tap? On tap? Awesome!!! My date went with the Moscow Mule also on tap, and loved it. Then to wine next, also on tap. Smith & Hook cab for dinner. Crisp clean, and to my pleasant surprise, served at a temperature it should be. Hats off to DM. We dine out a lot, and I’ve never seen a selection this size of wines on tap.
Food? Most nice size shareable plates, as we consider ourselves foodies, this is exactly the way we like to dine. There are bigger portions of items too on the menu for groups or heartier appetites, so don’t let the small tapas style keep you away. Our server helped us navigate through the menu. She couldn’t have been a better help, seeing this was our first time in.
We started with fried kale. Crazy good. The house smoked salmon dip was great. There’s a selection of sliders & flatbreads for the not so adventurous, but we were going for seafood centric items. The scallops from Japan were unbelievable, & the seared ahi tuna the same. We did the Mahi-Mahi from Hawaii, and it was spectacular! It was an owner who delivered the Mahi to our table, and told us about getting the fish from Hawaii next day. He also explained the tap system. So much behind the scenes here to get this great food & wine.
My date ordered the bone marrow. Never had it before, but it will be on our table, every time we dine here!! Lastly....the prime NY Strip. This was as good as the best steak houses I dine at in New York! I was just at Peter Luger, and I’m blown away by a steak in a Chicago suburb at half the price of a big steakhouse, and as good.
Just having moved here from the city, this restaurant is a standout! It’s busy here so we may opt for weekdays, to enjoy it even more. Thank you DM!
Second time here and the food has been excellent both times. I live an hour away so I don’t get to this area often but this is my first choice restaurant when I’m in Frankfort!
The beets with fig/balsamic reduction were amazing and delightful! The shrimp and grits is a real treat! The flavors in both were a delicious taste sensation!
One tip: eat slowly and savor the flavors!
Definitely make a reservation on weekends. If noise is an issue for you, request a table in the room near the entrance.
Service was friendly and attentive.
The food was great as always and the dueling pianos were fun. The only issue we had was that we (a party of 4) were seated with another party of 4 and a party of 2 squeezed at two tables pushed together. The poor party of 2 was in the middle and in the seam of the two tables. When we did dueling pianos there before we were at our own 4 top. I know they are trying to make money but it seems a bit ridiculous to squeeze that much and not to tell people when they called to confirm our reservations and make sure we knew it was dueling pianos.
So this was my third time at Dancing Marlin. The first two I just walked in and waited for a table. This time we decided to make reservations, since it was a date night. We arrived 5min before our reservation, we then were hand written under 8 different people. We were finally brought to our table 30min after our reservations. This is the only complaint I can make. So I will know next time to not assume I will be sat at my reservation time. During dinner one of our appetizers were misplaced. The waitress apologized, and it was brought out in Aprox 15 min. But it happens. The rest of the food was amazing. Lots of flavor and all cameout in a timely manner
The food and drinks are very good. BUT, we received emails stating the dueling pianos were playing on Jan. 18th. We arranged our work schedules and made reservations. I even called the manager and he confirmed it. When we arrived, we discovered the pianos were now changed to the following week. This is the second time this has happened to us! Whoever does their marketing needs to step up their game!
I love this place... but this is the second time we’ve been here when our reservation was an hour past our scheduled opentable time.
Unfortunately, there’s just not a great place to wait. It’s crowded and the waitstaff needs to get through and it’s frustrating to be in the way when you should be sitting down to dinner.
Things happen but an hour after our set reservation is a lot.
