Damian's Cucina Italiana Ratings and Reviews
Not impressed with Damian's. Service was slow. Took 45min-1hr for lunch to be served. I ordered a Ceasar Salad to start and the waiter said that it would take too long and then tried to sell me on the soup special instead of a different salad! First, I have never had a waiter tell me that a salad would take too long to make and second, if I wanted a soup, I would have ordered a soup! Food was good, but nothing worth raving about.
Consistently one of the very best restaurants in Houston. Excellent Italian and seafood no matter what you choose; the best lobster bisque ever made; fantastic cocktails of any variety, but the martinis are superb; stellar service every time, perfect and non-hovering; elegant decor and so festive at this time of year; a real treat and a dependably wonderful night out no matter when you go. It is a fave.
We have been looking for good Italian food in Houston for some time. Originally from NY, my bar is set high. Our server Andy had great recommendations and was attentive. We had the Italian sausage for an appetizer which reminded me of a true NY style Italian hero. For dinner we had the tortellini with spicy marinara instead of Alfredo and the pork medallion entree. Both were incredibly rich and delicious. We were stuffed halfway through our course. The manager Reuben came by to check on us and offered us free dessert which was delicious. We can’t wait to go back and would easily recommend this spot to friends!
We went to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary (I made a note of that while making the reservation). However, from the start, it’s an ordinary service. They gave us a table for 4 (that’s perfectly fine) and the first thing server asked us was, “are you waiting for 2 more people?”. That statement put this restaurant one level below the “high-end” ratings in my standards. It’s all downhill from there as far as the service is concerned. However, the main course was delicious and the wine was pretty good. We had a great dessert as well.
Our dinner food was wonderful. The bus round trip to Jones Hall was perfect.
It is disappointing that we could not return after the event for dessert and after dinner drink. Because of this, we'll go to Brennan's next time if we are including a performance downtown.
Our table waiter service was excellent. He should be commended.
I used to be a regular customer of this restaurant . My family were in town. I took them to Damian. Before we went to the restaurant, I told my family that it was one of the best Italian Restaurants. I spent near $300 (no wine or cocktail). All the dishes were so salty. None of us be able to finish the meal. Really embarrassed in front of my family.
I would not go or recommend any of my friends to go to this restaurant.
This restaurant was perfect for a special night that included the theatre. Our meal arrived, thoughtfully presented, and delicious. We had everything from soup to main courses. Then at 7:30, the shuttle arrived and dropped us at the front door of the Hobby Center. After the play, our shuttle was waiting to bring us back to Damian’s. Totally delightful. They even kept our leftovers and distributed after our arrival. Incredible!
My client had particilar demands of a chopped salad without tomatoes, etc. The waiter served him per his request. I went with the special of the day; grille flounder and shrimp.
We were served what we were asked, but it took awhile and there were more wait staff than customers. It didn’t make sense and too much too long to serve our food.
Consistently first-rate food, service, atmosphere. I host a couple of annual business dinners here when I am traveling to Houston on business. The evening is always impressive with excellent service and delicious food...a memorable experience for all my guests. I will keep coming back. This is a must-not-miss stop when in Houston.
Such a wonderful restaurant. Can't miss is the Caesar salad made table-side. The pasta is made in-house and one can taste the difference. Shrimp Damian and branzino are standouts. The pork tenderloin is also very good with an excellent sauce. We went for birthday celebrations, but good for all occasions (and free theater shuttle service if that applies to you).
Quite disappointed by the service we received. I noted that we were celebrating a birthday in the reservation. Also told the waiter that we had celebrants in the table. Even asked him what the restaurant does for celebrants, where he told us in detail what the restaurant does...yet, he doesn't follow through. It seemed as if the waiter treated us as though we were lying. Abhorrent.
