Damian's Cucina Italiana Ratings and Reviews
One of our Go To Italian restaurants especially when we are in midtown. We enjoyed our meal as usual - service is always great. Restaurant was packed at 6:30 Friday night. I will say though, with so many good restaurants coming up in Houston, Damien’s might need to change it up a bit.
The service was great. Went here before the show and they were able to get us in and out within the hour. Their shuttle service took us over to the show and picked us up right after. we had the shrimp appetizer, gnocchi and split the lobster and crab pasta. everything was so yummy. also had the house chardonnay and merlot. The rosemary lemon drop is to die for.
Highly recommend for quick dining or let them know your not in a hurry.
Damien’s is always good, however the food no matter what it is tends to be either toooooo salty or way toooo much garlic. One of my party had to send meal back to kitchen which did improve the situation of over sautéed spinach with far to much minced garlic.
We went to dinner the night before New Year's eve. The restaurant was moderately full, so the noise level was down. The food, as always, was superb! The owner came over and greeted us during our meal and honestly wanted to know how the food was. We have gone to Damian's several times before and will be going many more times in the future.
We picked this for our anniversary and were very pleased. The resturants decor was just lovely and had a old world feel. The food and service was excellent just like a family ran Italian old school place. Lots of good selections and a good Super Tuscan
wine. It's romantic but also faimly friendly.
This was our first time visiting this restaurant, having heard good reviews for a while. We decided to try it for an anniversary dinner and we were very pleased with the decision. The food was excellent and the portions were generous, so we had take-away for the following day. This helped to compensate for the higher price point. The service was excellent and we were not rushed through our meal. Since it was an anniversary celebration, it was nice to take our time in a relaxed and cozy environment where it was easy to talk. Kudos to Damian's!
I hadn't been to Damian's in 25 years and it was the same, which is good. Consistent is an admirable quality in a restaurant. The food here is always delicious and the service excellent. I would go more often but I find the location challenging and rarely go downtown.
Not impressed with Damian's. Service was slow. Took 45min-1hr for lunch to be served. I ordered a Ceasar Salad to start and the waiter said that it would take too long and then tried to sell me on the soup special instead of a different salad! First, I have never had a waiter tell me that a salad would take too long to make and second, if I wanted a soup, I would have ordered a soup! Food was good, but nothing worth raving about.
Consistently one of the very best restaurants in Houston. Excellent Italian and seafood no matter what you choose; the best lobster bisque ever made; fantastic cocktails of any variety, but the martinis are superb; stellar service every time, perfect and non-hovering; elegant decor and so festive at this time of year; a real treat and a dependably wonderful night out no matter when you go. It is a fave.
We have been looking for good Italian food in Houston for some time. Originally from NY, my bar is set high. Our server Andy had great recommendations and was attentive. We had the Italian sausage for an appetizer which reminded me of a true NY style Italian hero. For dinner we had the tortellini with spicy marinara instead of Alfredo and the pork medallion entree. Both were incredibly rich and delicious. We were stuffed halfway through our course. The manager Reuben came by to check on us and offered us free dessert which was delicious. We can’t wait to go back and would easily recommend this spot to friends!
We went to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary (I made a note of that while making the reservation). However, from the start, it’s an ordinary service. They gave us a table for 4 (that’s perfectly fine) and the first thing server asked us was, “are you waiting for 2 more people?”. That statement put this restaurant one level below the “high-end” ratings in my standards. It’s all downhill from there as far as the service is concerned. However, the main course was delicious and the wine was pretty good. We had a great dessert as well.
Our dinner food was wonderful. The bus round trip to Jones Hall was perfect.
It is disappointing that we could not return after the event for dessert and after dinner drink. Because of this, we'll go to Brennan's next time if we are including a performance downtown.
Our table waiter service was excellent. He should be commended.
