Estes is born from Italian family roots, seasonality and technique. The menu features straightforward and personal cooking -- handmade pastas, braised meats, and seasonal vegetable dishes, including McKee’s famous spaghetti and meatballs made with his family’s marinara sauce.

Every cocktail, appetizer, main and desert was perfectly unique and delicious! The trout was amazing. Everyone loved their food. The 5 of us could all hear each other. We didn’t have to compete with loud music or large crowds. The restaurant was full, yet the noise level was not too loud. We sat at the leaf shaped table in the corner which could easily seat 6 (part chairs/part comfy build in booth). Gather your friends and enjoy a special evening with attentive staff.
Amazing! One of the best meals I’ve had in Portland!
Amazing risotto. Like the heavens parted and angels handed down the plate. Incredible.
Estes at Dame is easily my favorite restaurant in Portland right now. Great ambiance, excellent service and the food - mamma mia!
Such an eclectic place with awesome service. Food was delicious with farm to table options. We enjoyed the wheat bread, heirloom tomatoes, corn succotash and smoked cheddar sausage. So scrumptious. We ended the meal with blueberry fritters (OMG heaven!). Definitely recommend.
Dinner and drinks were fantastic. Some acoustic tiles on ceiling would be nice to off-set noise level.
Server was outstanding with great wine knowledge. She helped make the evening very fun.
They have a table in the back in a private room that seats about 12-14 people. It was perfect for a big group celebration dinner!
The hand-made pasta was amazing, portions were reasonable and drinks were on point. I highly recommend. It delighted the birthday guest to be sure.
Awful service. Restaurant was 1/3 full and after 45 minutes between starter and entree we just left. Server was rude. Shame as the food here is good. Won’t be back.
Food was awesome, perfectly done and came faster than expected. Service was great too. Wonderful dinner for all four of us.
What a phenomenal little spot. Great food and the wine list. Fantastic. Off the beaten path. Don’t be scared to try something new.
Items we wanted to order had already run out (not that late on a Saturday evening), but ambiance and service were excellent!
We loved our dinner at Estes. Patrick McKee has a great menu and amazing food. The space at Dame is wonderful, as always. Can't wait to go back.
Food was great and original. Service was EXCELLENT! Loved the music.
The waitress recommended a lovely Syrah based on our first bottle pick. Should've known that her recommendation was going to be better. Burrata was amazing.
Our group has been getting together monthly for over 20 years. We rotate on which couple selects the restaurant. We never go to the same place twice and primarily choose fine dining in the Portland Metro area.
For our group the portions were a little small and the a la carte ordering and wine prices made Dame a very expensive choice.
Servers were helpful and knowledgeable. Pacing good until end of meal when the coffee ordered to go with the dessert took forever.
Estes with Chef Patrick McKee. Fantastic meal!!
Best meal I have had so far this year!
Wonderful, wonderful place. We will be back many times.
Dame has reinvented itself, and the results and food remain as spectacular as ever in one of the prettiest and coziest restaurants in Portland,
Fresh & delicious food. Excellent and friendly service. Wine selection is especially good. Space is airy, bright and attractive.
Outstanding wines & great suggestions from the sommelier. Most of our food was very good to excellent but the burger was significantly undercooked.
Dame is a super cute spot with a great aesthetic and feel. We had an extremely friendly server who congratulated us on our anniversary and brought us champagne at the end of our meal. The *only* thing holding me back from giving Dame 5 stars is the food for price quality ratio. Don't get me wrong, the food is alright! The price is ok! It's just not what is going to bring be back to Dame, the service and wine will.
They are in the process of a change over which we were not aware of and was not posted on open table.
It’s wonderfull to have Chef Patrick McKee cooking again! The space is comfortable & intimate. The service was attentive. The food was delicious. I’m looking forward to my next visit.
Food, service, drinks, wine list and ambiance all lived up to the hype I have been hearing about Dame. I would go here again and again. The meny often changes, but if you like PNW food that is always fresh and in season, don't hesitate.
I had a tenderloin stake that was good, but not much else came with it. When ordering I asked the waitress what was included and she told me “ it was as listed in menu. I asked her again to explain the ingredients, since I did not not any of the words In description and she agin just said it what it say. She said I could look at other tables to see. She would not even give me a description of the dish and included sides.
The service was great but the food was rather cold. Good food, just cold.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Dame. The choices were all exquisite and so beautifully flavorful with a strong Scandinavian profile in many dishes. The standouts were the smoky potatoes and the salad with Chicory and the wonderful Mountain Rose Apples. I enjoyed the Lamb neck and there were pescatarian options that were spectacular. Highly recommended.
The restaurant is cold, very cold. Everyone had jackets on during dinner, not a good sign. Apparently they have a fuse problem, but no one seems willing to fix the problem. This place already has a door in the middle of the establishment which takes all the heat everytime the door is opened, but this was a little beyond. I won't go back unless it is summer.
Dinner with friends. We ordered a variety of small plates to share as appetizers. The salt cod croquettes were delicious. Bread board a must. Three ordered the coppa and I ordered Manila clams...some of the best ever. Wait staff very informed for pairing wine and attentive to our table.
Food was good but a bit too fancy for some of our party. Little or no options for kids.
The ambience was cozy, the service was attentive and caring. The food was just okay. I had rockfish with parsnip sauce and roasted veggies. It was okay. Nothing memorable or special. Took part of it home and did t even eat it.
I want to love this place and there are things about it that are great. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is charming and the wine list is great. But the food leaves something to be desired. We'd been here once over a year ago and were not impressed with the meal. We came back in the hopes that the food would have improved. Sadly, it was about the same. It's not bad, but it's not a standout and given the stiff competition in Portland cuisine it should be.
This was our first visit associated with a birthday and we wanted both traditional and vegan preferences .
The menu is incredible; we were very pleased the offerings, the wine selection, the friendliness & helpfulness of our servers, & attention to detail.
Wanted to try this out for some time and it did not disappoint. Cozy atmosphere, smaller dining space, adventuresome menu to delight any pescatarian/vegetarian. Service was attentive and accomodated a change in seating to deal with a night chill from the glass windows. Intimate and relaxed elegance.
The interior is very inviting--the dark colors and hints of antiques are warm and pleasing to the eye. I feel that the menu is limiting, and the prices are so varied, making the decision of what to order forced to be pricing considered. For example, they should have two entree's in the teens, two in the twenties, two in the thirties, and none in the 40's! (as opposed to just one choice in each category). It feels like the pricing needs to be reigned in. The drinks are prohibitively expensive, in my opinion. Also, why they made no reservations available on a Saturday night at 7pm forcing us to show up at 6:45 and watch many empty tables all night, was an inconvenience.
Everything was delicious! There were many unique combinations and preparations, even among the vegetables, but it was not overdone at all. The restaurant itself is small but cozy, and the service was exceedingly friendly and helpful. We had a lovely expereince there.
Amazing meal in many ways. Wonderful, fresh and flavorful. One of the best places in Portland and we have lived here 20 years!
