Dame is a neighborhood restaurant hosting chef Patrick McKee with his Estes menu. We are excited to share this food and our natural wine list with our guests.
Estes is born from Italian family roots, seasonality and technique. The menu features straightforward and personal cooking -- handmade pastas, braised meats, and seasonal vegetable dishes, including McKee’s famous spaghetti and meatballs made with his family’s marinara sauce.
Sample menus are available online on our website:
Fried Capers, Shaved Foie Gras Torchon, Calabrian Chile Oil
Spaghetti & Meatballs
Pork, Beef, Veal, Tomato, Opal Basil
Oil Confit Potato, Fennel, Citrus, Green Herbs, Grilled Lemon
Our preference is a quiet dinner. That doesn't seem to exist in Portland. The food, wine and service were wonderful.
Super awesome delicious dinner, knowledgeable waitress with superb wine suggestions. Will definitely be back.
Kind of a disappointment. the best dishes was the flat bread with ricotta, where you do no need to cook that much. Cacio e Pepe did not taste as cacio at all, but mostly of butter. The ravioli were way too salty. As I am Italian and I like good food, I won't go back there. However the place was very pretty.
I took my vegetarian significant other to Dame for his birthday and our first March dining experience. Everything was so delicious and the dining month value was good. To get the same thing a la carte would have cost $10 or so more.
The food is locally sourced so seasonal dishes. My squid ink pasta was so tasty with a slight kick. And my SO wanted to “take a bucket of the salad home.”
Great neighborhood dining. Our favorite place for great food and service in an intimate setting.
Dame was outstanding. From top to toe, it was my perfect restaurant. The decor was charming, all the staff incredibly knowledgeable and warm, and the food was top notch. The squash and apple salad was delicious in every bite. I loved the intimate feel of a New York or Parisian neighborhood bistro. I wish we had such a place in West Hollywood.
Cacio de Pepe!!!!!!!!
Always a great meal and service here.
Trout and butternut squash pasta were seriously amazing. The bartender made me something off the menu kind of old fashioned-ish and it’s like the best cocktail I’ve ever had. The ambiance was chill and inviting and service was personal and flawless. It was date night for me and my honey and this was the perfect cozy spot!
I took myself on a date here. First of all, wow. The ambiance is so cozy. I could have easy snuggled in the window-paned corner with a glass of wine reading a book. My friend who does not eat pork decided to crash my date. A lot of items on the menu have pork products in them, so my friend struggled to find something that sounded good to him. I ordered the brussels sprouts along with half-order of spaghetti and meatballs. The staff was already so friendly and attentive. But, when it came to ordering my friend decided to opt out. Staff went above and beyond to make something very special for my friend, which he absolutely loved and devoured (steak with roasted veggies). The food was impeccable. The service was out of this world, especially considering the poor stigma of Portland service. We were both wow-ed. Thanks for a great dining experience! I will definitely be back to further support this restaurant.
Magnificent gem of a place somewhat off the beaten path. Kind of a small unassuming neighborhood joint, but wow what a great experience. The two women who served us were both very friendly and knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home on a stormy Portland night.
We started with Manhattans, which, quite simply, were the best we’ve ever had... and we’ve had more than a few in the last 35 years! Then it was time for a couple of appetizers. We opted for the beef carpaccio and the Brussels sprouts... the carpaccio was good but the Brussels sprouts were amazing, very flavorful with a great sauce. Main courses were the spaghetti with meatballs and the cappelletti which were tremendous, high end renditions of classic comfort food. For dessert, it was the blood orange sorbet and the house baked donuts...again, very tasty.
This is now my wife’s favorite restaurant in PDX, so there will definitely be a number of return trips forthcoming! Thanks to the staff for an amazingly high quality yet simple dining experience!
Extremely noisy, which totally ruined the meal for us. While the food tasted excellent, two of the entries were quite small. Service was very good.
This place is always great. This place is always great. This place is always great.
Excellent Service and friendly staff. Enjoyed Dame!
Another wonderful meal by Chef Patrick. We were seated right away and staff were very friendly and helpful. The meals were well crafted and tasty. Thanks to Rob for his fine deserts and capped it all off.
Every cocktail, appetizer, main and desert was perfectly unique and delicious! The trout was amazing. Everyone loved their food. The 5 of us could all hear each other. We didn’t have to compete with loud music or large crowds. The restaurant was full, yet the noise level was not too loud. We sat at the leaf shaped table in the corner which could easily seat 6 (part chairs/part comfy build in booth). Gather your friends and enjoy a special evening with attentive staff.
Amazing! One of the best meals I’ve had in Portland!
Amazing risotto. Like the heavens parted and angels handed down the plate. Incredible.
Estes at Dame is easily my favorite restaurant in Portland right now. Great ambiance, excellent service and the food - mamma mia!
Such an eclectic place with awesome service. Food was delicious with farm to table options. We enjoyed the wheat bread, heirloom tomatoes, corn succotash and smoked cheddar sausage. So scrumptious. We ended the meal with blueberry fritters (OMG heaven!). Definitely recommend.
Dinner and drinks were fantastic. Some acoustic tiles on ceiling would be nice to off-set noise level.
Server was outstanding with great wine knowledge. She helped make the evening very fun.
They have a table in the back in a private room that seats about 12-14 people. It was perfect for a big group celebration dinner!
The hand-made pasta was amazing, portions were reasonable and drinks were on point. I highly recommend. It delighted the birthday guest to be sure.
Awful service. Restaurant was 1/3 full and after 45 minutes between starter and entree we just left. Server was rude. Shame as the food here is good. Won’t be back.
Food was awesome, perfectly done and came faster than expected. Service was great too. Wonderful dinner for all four of us.
What a phenomenal little spot. Great food and the wine list. Fantastic. Off the beaten path. Don’t be scared to try something new.
Items we wanted to order had already run out (not that late on a Saturday evening), but ambiance and service were excellent!
We loved our dinner at Estes. Patrick McKee has a great menu and amazing food. The space at Dame is wonderful, as always. Can't wait to go back.
Food was great and original. Service was EXCELLENT! Loved the music.
The waitress recommended a lovely Syrah based on our first bottle pick. Should've known that her recommendation was going to be better. Burrata was amazing.
Our group has been getting together monthly for over 20 years. We rotate on which couple selects the restaurant. We never go to the same place twice and primarily choose fine dining in the Portland Metro area.
For our group the portions were a little small and the a la carte ordering and wine prices made Dame a very expensive choice.
Servers were helpful and knowledgeable. Pacing good until end of meal when the coffee ordered to go with the dessert took forever.
Estes with Chef Patrick McKee. Fantastic meal!!
Best meal I have had so far this year!
Wonderful, wonderful place. We will be back many times.
Dame has reinvented itself, and the results and food remain as spectacular as ever in one of the prettiest and coziest restaurants in Portland,
Fresh & delicious food. Excellent and friendly service. Wine selection is especially good. Space is airy, bright and attractive.
Outstanding wines & great suggestions from the sommelier. Most of our food was very good to excellent but the burger was significantly undercooked.
Dame is a super cute spot with a great aesthetic and feel. We had an extremely friendly server who congratulated us on our anniversary and brought us champagne at the end of our meal. The *only* thing holding me back from giving Dame 5 stars is the food for price quality ratio. Don't get me wrong, the food is alright! The price is ok! It's just not what is going to bring be back to Dame, the service and wine will.
They are in the process of a change over which we were not aware of and was not posted on open table.
It’s wonderfull to have Chef Patrick McKee cooking again! The space is comfortable & intimate. The service was attentive. The food was delicious. I’m looking forward to my next visit.
Food, service, drinks, wine list and ambiance all lived up to the hype I have been hearing about Dame. I would go here again and again. The meny often changes, but if you like PNW food that is always fresh and in season, don't hesitate.
