D'Amato's Restaurant & Goodnite Gracie Martini Bar Ratings and Reviews
The atmosphere was a great place to feel treated by staff and enjoy pleasant conversation with my wife celebrating my birthday. Food was exceptional and the bonus was half off wine bottles on Wednesday. Will certainly return to enjoy one of the other weekly specials. Very much worth the drive with ease of parking right across from the restaurant.
Overall experience was great. Went in before the dinner rush. Wait staff was great but not overbearing. She answered all the questions that we had and kept our drinks full.
Only problem was there were a few bags/fruit flies hovering around every once in a while.
Definitely did not ruin the experience but was worth mentioning.
We had a wonderful time. We ordered the PRIME RIB for 2 with bottle of wine. Great Value and taste. Waitstaff was second to none. After dinner we slipped over to Goodnight Gracie's to listen to live music and after dinner drinks.Bartender was friendly and full of energy. Atmosphere was comfortable and inviting. Liz Smith was the performer for that evening and her voice is beautiful with some sass. Looking forward to the next time.
I ordered the pork chop they were featuring and it was very dry. My husband ordered a steak and it was just average. My friend ordered the veal parm and the ricotta cheese was very cold and made the whole dish seem off. At the end we had a $100 VISA gift card we wanted to use towards the bill and they refused it as payment. Strange. Nothing special about this place so I’m not sure I’d go back but it was close to The Escape Room which we were going to that night.
D'Amato's is a neighborhood gem. The food is always spot-on and the specials are diverse and inviting. The wine choices are quality yet reasonable. Most importantly the wait-staff is outstanding. We've never had a bad experience and have always left more than satisfied. This is a great place to be either before or after a show at the Royal Oak Music Theatre or just when you want a quality meal.
My wife and I were looking for a place to use an OpenTable reward certificate and this place was one of the options. We love Italian so figured we tried it. Great experience and we loved it. It has a great atmosphere and isn’t a typical chain restaurant. The food was spectacular and we really had a great time. As we were leaving I said to my wife, I think that’s one of my new favorite places. Thanks
The food was excellent. We had a larger party so that may have affected the service, but we did have a reservation. Appetizers and salads came out in a timely manner, but our entrees were not served for over an hour after we had finished our appetizers. Not sure if this is normal since this was my first time here, but it's possible the service is slow. The restaurant seems fun though, so if I were to try it again, I would with a smaller party in hopes that the service is better.
We've gone here many times for dinner and Sunday Brunch, which is my favorite! We decided to do an early Thanksgiving because of all the other family stops we had to do. They served an impressive traditional dinner - turkey, ham, mashed and sweet potatoes, salad, green beans, brussel sprouts with bacon, cranberries and vegetarian lasagne! Apple or pumpkin pie for dessert! Everything was great and we didn't feel rushed as we have at other places we've gone for holiday dinners.
The food was very good. The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy. Although the noise level is loud, it is not so loud you cant have conversations. The salads are outstanding. if you want to save a few dollars, you can order an appertizer and large salad--very filling.
The prices are reasonable. The only downside is parking, which is the usual for Royal Oak.
Entree suggestions are shrimp and salmon. If you sit toward the back it is quieter, but your waiter may also have to serve a large party in their group room. There is no scenic view here unless you like looking at trains. I would recommend it.
Our server was knowledgeable and the service was fast. The food was excellent, plentiful and hot. There are specials most nights which makes D’Amato’s a great value. The music was too loud when we first arrived and not very atmospheric. As it got more crowded I didn’t notice the music as much and the noise level was not overwhelming. Parking is in the public lot across the street so was tricky to find a spot at our 5 pm arrival and complicated by construction in the middle of the lot. Also, Sherman street is one way necessitating a couple of round the block trips in our quest to find a closer spot. One quarter gets you 30 min on the meter.
My wife and I had been there before with friends and it was a very good experience, so we tried it again on our own. Parking is convenient. We were seated right away. It was a nice night so the windows to the street were folded open and it created that feeling of eating outside. Our waiter was prompt and not pushy, made some great suggestions. It was restaurant week so my wife ordered off of that menu which was a very good value. The menu is quite extensive so your entire party can find something to enjoy. The kitchen was able to fulfill special requests for changes to the dish. The wait staff works well together; there was never an empty water glass and empty plates were quickly removed. Our extra food was removed from the table and brought back in a to go container, as it should be.
I took my fiance there for her b-day and it was a great experience besides spending 10 minutes trying to find a place to park but that's royal oak for ya....the food was delicious and the service was excellent...had a great time and would definitely come back for another occasion...
Blackened shrimp with zucchini noodles and Burrata appetizer were really great. Our waiter was fantastic and super spot on as well as man helping to refill our water, take our dishes, package our leftovers. Everyone was very attentive to our table of 6 girls. Would definitely go back.
Used to be excellent food and great service. Now owned and operated by guys with no restaurant experience and they’ve ruined the place. Food is still good, but the service is fair to bad. Hostesses are snotty little girls who must work here at night after sharing their snotty attitudes with the customers at Atomic Coffee, also owned by the owners here. Busboys are incompetent and annoying, as they all but grab the fork out of your mouth to clear the table. You’ll love this place if you’re short on time, though, because they rush the food out so fast you can’t finish one course before the next is on the table and the busboys start trying to run off with the dishes from them prior course (even if you haven’t finished). Not worth the time or money any more, and given they were half empty at 7:30 on a Saturday night, I think lots of others have figured this out already.
Excellent service all around! Hubby said crabcake appetizers were large portions and very tasty. I had Brussels sprouts. Amazing and plentiful! My entree salad was lacking any creativity. Just a large plate of spring lettuce, cherry tomatoes and gorgonzola cheese (which I substituted for parmesan). My highlight were the truffle fries cooked in olive oil, seasoned with parmesan cheese and some other seasonings. Absolutely wonderful!! I'm not a fan of Italian desserts, but hubby enjoyed the chocolate cake thing. A great evening, overall. Will definitely be back!
