Damas Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful fresh and flavorful food serviced with care by polite and thoughtful wait staff. We celebrated a special occasion and had a romantic evening together. We would highly recommend this venue for those who enjoy Middle Eastern food and a fine dining experience. We will definitively return. It was very nice to see the brought range f people from many cultures that were enjoying their dinners. The fattouch salad was delicious as was the ground lamb and eggplant dish we ordered
My wife had been talking about Damas for a year, and it did not disappoint! We had the 5 Service tasting menu which was simply delicious at every turn, and was plenty of food for us. Tried an orange wine for the first time too - the jury is still out for me on that - but having the choice of several orange wines was a welcome surprise.
Happy to see Damas has more tables so it is easier to get a reservation. Every single thing we ordered was perfect. Sensational food. I recommend that Damas make known what help they might be offering new Syrian refugees to Montreal and if they are not already doing this, help employ them.
Delicious food as usual. The octopus is a must. Ask for the Humus mushroom too. A delightful experience and great service. A special thanks to Vivian, well informed, professional, took great care explaining each dish and accommodating our specific needs and most importantly, with a great smile. A must try.
Simply Put: A must go for anyone who cares about food, great ambiance and no pretention.
Enter Dama’s Restaurant and enter the world of the lost. A place where the food is matched by the service. Everything about our experience there was stellar.
Food: We had the 6 course tasting menu. Not overdone but certainly not for the light/casual dinner, you will leave full, but refreshed – everything is prepared thoughtfully. Each course comes out much like the restaurant- super refined but without pretention. Server after server explains the dish and happily answers questions, only to disappear until your glass might need to be refilled.
Wine: We were ordering bottles of wine in the 60-80 dollar range (50-65 USD). In New York my experience is simple- the sommeliers don’t care about you unless you are ordering A LOT $$ and they almost disdain the low cost bottles on the menu. Not so at Damas. Our sommelier was passionate, listened to our preferences and took the cost we asked into account. He was what a professional is supposed to be and wine was excellent.
Bottom Line: We will be back and I highly recommend it. Personally, I can’t imagine going there for the first time and not getting the tasting menu.
My friend and I are traveling to Montreal and received glowing recommendations for Damas from chef friends and food enthusiasts alike. This meal did not disappoint. Their cocktail program is amazing, and their food was just as good. In Philadelphia we have a Persian restaurant that is considered top 3 in the city. It is maybe my favorite meal. This was toe-to-toe the entire meal. The beet cold mezze was one of my favorite things I’ve eaten, ever, and would probably be THE favorite if the olive oil was a little less present. The staff was attentive and high-end, even in the casual environment. All around amazing meal.
Everything was well managed from our arrival, to the dessert. Each course of the 5-Course tasting menu was sublime. The Fattoush and the Hummus - perfection. The lamb Shank/rack of lamb and chicken were absolutely spectacular! We can’t find fault in any aspect of the evening.
We returned to Damas for a family meal, and our expectations were not disappointed. Damas continues to provide tasty and succulent middle-eastern dishes, prepared to near-perfection. The lentil soup is not to be missed, the hummous with lamb was a great appetizer, the lamb with okra was an outstanding main, and although we shared the different dishes, and it was hard to declare a winner among them.
Really enjoyed the meal here. Not familiar with Syrian cuisine, but it was very good. Had the four cold mezzes along with three hot including shrimp and kibbe, all good. For entrees, lamb kabab, chicken, sea bass and eggplant. I didn't taste them all but mine was very good. To full for dessert.
