I last visited this restaurant 11 years ago on my first trip to New York, and it was still as great as I remembered! The atmosphere, service and food are wonderful. I wish this restaurant were closer to my hometown! I’d eat there all the time!
Awful. They didn’t honor reservation. Put me on another reservation list. I walked out as I had theater tickets
One meal was hot and excellent, the other was cold.
From start to finish it was a very enjoyable experience. We were greeted warmly, seated earlier than our reservation, and our server, Angie, was helpful and available to answer questions, offering great suggestions. Pasta bolognese and penne Saloporite were delicious and generously sized; burrata appetizer was delightful, and desserts of tiramisu and chocolate cake did not disappoint. Lovely way to spend an evening.
Good place for a pre-show dinner. Staff was friendly and provided good service. Minor complaint on the waitress having to de-bone the fish. It should've been done in kitchen and better.
We had a terrific experience here! Great food, friendly service, fun ambiance. Love the live piano! We ate before seeing a show - the host asked about our plans and was sure to tell our server to ensure that we would be on time. Upon our arrival, we had mentioned that it was my birthday... just visiting NYC for a show and dinner. The manager/host took note, and without my family even asking him to, he serenaded/ sang 'Happy Birthday'! We will absolutely return - this will become a birthday tradition, for sure. The entire staff helped to make this a happy and very special/ memorable birthday! Bravo and thank you!
Wonderful experience very friendly and polite service and the owner was a sweetheart. Very unexpected was the live music and it was super. The food couldn’t have been any better tasting
It took us 20 min to get a seating - had reservation ahead of time.
The food was fabulous! We had a 6:30 reservation and did not get seated until 7:10. Therefore we had to hurry through our dinner because we had a 8:00 show. Was not happy about the rush!
Amazing place, friendly staff and the food is on point. We will definitely be going back.
Great restaurant, food, ambiance and staff. 1st time there- will definitely go back.
Good food and service. The restaurant temperature was pretty warm though - not sure if there was an issue with the air conditioning.
Food was very good as was ambiance. Live piano music was very nice. But service was VERY slow -- waited 35 minutes for entrees to come. then waited even 10 minutes for a slice of cake to come! As we were eating there before a broadway show, the delay in getting our food took away from our overall experience because we were nervous about the time.
Female vocalist was super annoying. Sounded more like bad broadway than Italian. Quiet Italian music or accusative piano would be better.
Charming restaurant with very good food. It was a bit warm and crowded, but otherwise good.
Food was great, and server, Katarina, was, too. But we can’t recommend this restaurant because of what happened at the end of our meal. As we were finishing our last bites of dessert and sips of wine, the host came over and asked that we clear the table because he had a large group he needed to seat. We
Seated quickly with reservations, good service, clean!
We enjoyed the food at the restaurant but the air conditioning was not great and somewhat uncomfortable. We felt we were rushed through the meal. We were going to a play but had plenty of time.
Place is adorable, feels like a neighborhood restaurant although its right down the street from Times Square. Food was great!
Awesome experience, very friendly personable host and staff. Made my nieces birthday trip very special!
We were going to a 7 pm show and arrived at 5:30. At 6:45, without being able to enjoy our dinner, we had to leave to catch the show. The food was average for New York. Tasty but not great.
Daughters 13th birthday. Service was top notch and food was absolutely delicious!!
Food and service was great. Air conditioning not working properly
Ok food, but overly expensive for the quality. We didn’t have terrible service, but the waiter didn’t check on us hardly at all. Either because he had too many tables or because we didn’t spend enough money there. Just a note...the restaurant is NOT wheelchair accessible.
If you are trying to make a show in time, I wouldn’t eat here. We arrived on time with 2 hours to make a show. We finally were able to order drinks 25 minutes in. We ordered all of our food at the same time. Our entries didn’t show until 1 hour and 20 minutes there. One entree was wrong. I ordered lamb chops medium rare and they came out well done. Had to flag down a different waiter to get our check. Had to flag a busboy to get a pen to sign the check. Super hot in the restaurant. All in all not a good experience.
Great setting, delicious food, and fantastic service! Loved it!
This place was a total disappointment.
We were one of only 4 tables in the place and it took 45 minutes to get salad. The waiter's shift ended in the middle of our meal and we had another waitress who was clueless.
I had a fruit fly flying around my wine glass and it finally fell in, gross.
The place is very warm, so they have fans all over the place, which is both loud and blows your hair around.
The guy playing the piano seemed to be right out of a skit from Saturday Night Live.
Parts of my date's tuna carpaccio was frozen, he ate the non frozen parts and when the waiter asked how everything was, he just let them know the tuna was frozen. He wasn't looking to have the meal comped, just answering the question.
Well then the manager? owner? came over and started arguing about the tuna, we stated we weren't looking for it to be removed from the bill, but he was so loud and defensive (as if he caught it himself) that everyone in the restaurant stopped to hear this rude guy argue.
It was truly unprofessional.
We won't be going back EVER.
What a jerk!
Oh, and they didn't comp us anything...
La comida deliciosa, el problema es que falta limpieza. El olor a orines y a humedad en la entrada es muy desagradable
There were three of us in my party and the only ones in the restaurant at noon. We all ordered a bowl of pasta with asparagus and shrimp, there were at least 10 pieces. The meal came out warm not hot which turned us all off. Cost for the meal was $33.
It’s now time for dessert and on the menu had no prices. A slice of chocolate cake was $17 and three mini cannolis were $15.
We won’t be back soon but will try them again.
Wonderful dinner!! We had an amazing waiter that was very accommodating! Can’t wait to eat their again!!
We went to Da Marino on a crazy night. It was Saturday night, there was a glitch with OpenTable reservations, and some or many were lost. The line from the front table to the reservation desk was at least 40 people deep and many were frustrated. However, some free champagne was offered and we made it to a table within 15 minutes. All the staff was very overworked, but it was very good service and very good atmosphere.
We were there to see a show, so we were on a tight time-line. Our food came later than I was comfortable with, and when it came it mine was wrong; I ordered chicken marsala and received chicken parm. They took it back, I thought it was someone else's, but when mine failed to appear in a few minutes I got nervous. When the waitress came to apologize and tell me it would only be a few more minutes I said, just bring me the parm I have to get out of here. The parm was delicious and they comped my glass of wine.
Saturday night in NYC, hot day, reservation issues, tight schedule, wrong meal, and the restaurant was still very good.
Went pre show. Very hot inside and noisy. I ordered trout( which I frequently cook) the fish served to me was more like grouper, a thick white fish. It was tasty, but not what I expected.
Very crowded when leaving, no room to get out as people were waiting to be seated and the bar is right there.( fire hazard)
The staff was extremely attentive. There were fans all around which were pretty loud. They may want to consider central air. The bathroom was gorgeous and spa-like. The food was delicious. I was hoping to have meatballs, but the pasta dish with mushrooms and spinach was exquisite.
I really enjoyed it and went back next night with my husband. Even when it was crazy busy they didn't forget about us waiting and constantly checked on us.
My husband & I were looking for a romantic dinner for a nice meal before a show but that didn't happen. We were seated at a tiny table squished next to another tiny table. Three people came and went from that table. The party that did sit there, were soo loud we couldn't speak to each other. I had to remind the waitress to bring our drinks and 15 min. later remind her to bring our appetizer. Unfortunately , our dinner came at the same time as the appetizer which was not what we wanted. The food was average at best. The hostess gentleman tried to be funny but he wasn't. It is a charming place with a nice piano player but you are very, very cramped in there with only average food. Not the romance we were looking for that evening.
My husband and I drove to the city for our 12th Anniversary. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with Anniversary wishes and a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate. Entertainment played our wedding song and we danced in the middle of the restaurant. Klaudio was an amazing server, management was so hospitable, and the entertainment was excellent. The food is the best Italian we’ve ate. Da Marino is the only choice for us when visiting the city. We will see you guys in December. Thank you so much for another memorable evening in your one of a kind establishment.
Fabulous food & service! Restaurant was packed & maitre’d worked with us to assure we were served quickly so we could get to our show on time. What a find! We’d return here in a heartbeat!!
The food, service and ambiance was great but it was unfortunately very hot inside the restaurant (like the A/C didn't work).
The restaurant was terribly HOT when we got there.
The air condoning was non existent!
There were standing fans everywhere that did absolutely nothing to cool the place.
The tables for two were tiny!
We stared to leave because it would have been impossible to eat there but were stopped by the Manager, who wanted badly to accommodate us because I was celebrating my Birthday.
They finally gave us a larger table right by a stand up air conditioning unit & it was better.
We greatly appreciated the gesture but it never should have been that hot in there to begin with!
Great atmosphere in this restaurant. Wonderful service. Great food!
