When visiting the restaurant, patrons descend 18 feet underground in a canopied glass elevator, accessed from street level, for a culinary experience unlike any other. The American Steakhouse offers an expansive 1,800 square foot subterranean courtyard allowing patrons to dine al fresco and enjoy a New Orleans-inspired exterior space. This cool oasis is complete with a 20 foot, 5-tiered granite water wall, multi-tiered landscaping, lava rock fire pit, and black granite bar. Dakota's below-ground patio has long been considered one of the city's most romantic dining spots.

We believe the best steaks come from the best cut and quality. That’s why we get all of our beef fresh from renowned beef purveyors, Allen Brothers. Each cut is corn and grain fed USDA Prime steak that our chef handpicks. Each steak is aged for a minimum of 28 days for a perfectly tender, juicy bite every time.

Overall it was a great night. From the moment we pulled up to valet service was on point. We enjoyed a fantastic cocktail at the bar before we sat down to eat. Our dinner was wonderful and we are still talking about how good everything we ate was last night. Service was very attentive and the recommendation for wines and appetizers were fantastic. It was a great night and we enjoy everything about it.

Amazing experience, fun to go down the elevator underground, amazing ambiance, piano player off to your right in entrance. We were fortunate enough to sit right next to the window of the waterfall. They so kindly decorated our table, and had really done an outstanding job of hosting me and my fiancé on our anniversary, our waiter was great. The meal was outstanding much better than another private steakhouse restaurant we had here in town. definitely more bang for your buck at this restaurant.

Went for an early valentines dinner and the experience was Amazing. Service was fantastic (Josh) was friendly and attentive. Food was incredibly delicious and delightful. Drinks were yummy and everything was timed just right through out the meal.

We visited Dakota’s for the first time this to celebrate our daughter’s 30th birthday. Valet parking made it easy from the beginning. We were wowed with the setting when walking into the restaurant. Pure class. We started our meal with drinks (old-fashion’s from their own barrel batch - excellent and the ice had their monogram - nice touch). We enjoyed the small side salads (Wedge was unique but the best I’ve had! The Caesar was great as well.). We followed with the filets and shared sides of au gratin potatoes, creamed spinach and brussel sprouts. All were delicious and generous. Our waiter Henry was delightful and attentive. He offered photos and wine took us outside for one of them. It’s a pricey meal but well worth it for a special occasion. We will be back!!

Had a great time! We sat in the bar area and it was very intimate and quiet. Kayla was our server and absolutely amazing. She was very knowledgably of the menu and cocktails. She picked out most of our appetizers and we were definitely not disappoint to say the least. We will be back soon.

Our first time here - it was my wife’s birthday. Food was absolutely amazing, and service was top-notch. Our server Henry made some great suggestions and had everything coursed out perfectly. We went whole hog with hors d’ouvres, hot and cold apps, filets and sides, and we loved every bit of it. This was definitely a fine dining experience that was worth the price.

We had an AMAZING time at Dakotas celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday! Everything we ordered was outstanding. If you don’t order the tater tots you’re missing out!! The ribeye was to die for, as was the butternut squash risotto! Service was slow once they started to get busy but it allowed us to take our time with our meal. Waitstaff was extremely knowledgeable and very kind. We will absolutely be back!

oh my goodness - I could not recommend this place any more than I already do. We went for the first time two days ago for my husbands birthday and we have genuinely never been somewhere with better food or service. Steven was our waiter and he was an absolute delight. Made the experience 10x better and was so attentive and polite. Ever since we left I have been craving the food its unreal. I am forever obsessed with Dakotas now.

Business trip down to Dallas. Was recommended this restaurant. I understand having a dress code at a chop house but you better be ready to deliver on that expectation. Our server was awesome! Loved her energy and presentation. The one part I disliked was I want some honesty from my servers! I had asked a simple question of if they do medium rare plus, I am fully aware some chop houses do and some don’t. I was told they do and however mine did not come out that way. Which is just okay. If I had known they didn’t serve medium rare plus I would’ve gotten medium. Like I said, just okay for a chophouse. Expected more though. Beautiful ambiance and love the underground location. Go to dallas quite often but will probably not make a trip back to Dakotas as there are many better chophouses out there I’m sure of it!

Food was excellent! Service was Ok, but either the server or the kitchen missed one of the items on our order. As it turns out, we had plenty of food anyway and rather than make a fuss about it I made sure the server removed that item from our bill. Next time I'll ask the server to repeat our order and make sure that he recorded it properly.

wonderful place. Love the story of how they became an underground restaurant. The food and drinks were delicious. Staff was incredible. We sat at a table in the bar area. Our first trip here. When back in Dallas, will re-visit. Filet Mignon, butternut squash risotto, brussel sprouts, creamed spinach, all fabulous. We finished our meal with a delicious dessert, tiramisu cheesecake- simply stated, to die for.
