Dakota Bar & Grill Ratings and Reviews
Everything was fine except for two things: the server, Mary, snapped at me in front of the other patrons when I asked for two cups of water for the third time; while our group had been sitting for quite a while and even after we placed our orders. Secondly, for the prices paid for meals and drinks and automatically taking 18% gratuity (not allowing us to decide what the server rightly deserved), there should be an expense that goes to cleaning up all the dirt and cobwebs on the walls, Windows and ceilings, above our heads on the outdoor patio to make it a more inviting experience.
Inside eating was impossible due to no air-conditioning and a musty aroma in the air. Outside eating had no misting system by table. Reservation did not accomplish anything except undesirable eating location. Then we had to go hunt up someone to obtain our bill. Then we had to watch people feed their dog. Dogs should not be allowed .
Dakota Cafe is a great find. Whether you're stopping in for happy hour or a nice relaxing meal, you're going to love this place. Beautiful patio seating and cozy seating areas inside, it's a comfy place with wonderful food and drinks. The bartender and our server were top-notch, totally going above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable time. And we did! We'll definitely be back. Highly recommend!
I had a confirmation from O.T. but when I got there they said they didn't have my reservation but it was okay because they weren't busy. I expected to get a ding from Open Table for not showing up for my res. I had stated on the res that I was taking my friend birthday lunch. Turns out they have a new brunch menu which was very good. Only problem was we ordered decaf, didn't come, asked...told forgot to add coffee, waited....asked for refill, waited, went in to ask again so other waitress brought barely warm coffee from carafe. Our waitress ran up with 2 cups of freshly brewed decaf - said she'd made another fresh pot. Not that big a deal - maybe they were new staff .
It was kids night at Trail dust town and was very loud with more people and kids than usual. Food was very slow to come out and not very hot. The enchiladas were way over priced for what you get and nothing special about the sliders too. The menu has changed not for the better.
Will not be high on list of places to go back to. The waiter did try the best he could.
Food was very good. However, my husband wanted the tri-tip which you do not serve until 5pm. We were there at 7pm and were told you out of the tri-tip. Our waiter was very nice, but could not find him half the time. He never came back to replenish my husband's alcoholic drink. Once he served the food we never saw him again and had to ask another waiter to tell him we were ready for our check.
Other than the waiter, the experience and food was good.
Shrimp dishes and BBQ were better than I could make at home, and superior to what I have found else where in Tucson.
Outside Patio was great. The misting system was nice for Arizona heat.
Service was consistent and friendly and food excellent.
Don't let the location in an old western town/park fool you. I was so skeptical when I realized just where this was. I was so worried that is was gong to be a bust. But the service, the sweet potato fries and all 6 meals at the table were winners! We would go again just for their fries and the occasional fish and chips special! Extremely generous portions as well!
Family came in to town at the last moment for Mother's Day. Dakota Grill was able to have accommodations for us. The most important part my young grandson loved his mac and cheese and the adults were equally satisfied. . I had actually made arrangements for my HOA to eat here a few days earlier and the food was equal in quality. It is nice to have the consistency in food quality and staff attention in completely different dining experiences. Good Job!
My boyfriend and I put this on our list of 'let's try new places', and it's by far the best on our list. I've now taken my mom there for both Mother's Day, and continue to enjoy the scenery, atmosphere, and most of all, the food. The key lime pie is the best I've ever had!
The Mothers Day brunch was excellent. The brunch choices were great. The shrimp was the best we've had in Tucson. The roast beef was first class. The server was very friendly and helpful. Each mother got a mimosa and dessert was included for all. This was the perfect Mothers Day for my mom
I don't live in Tucson and infrequently visit, but Dakota is on my must visit list. Wonderful atmosphere with live music on the weekends. The waitstaff is outstanding and know the menu inside out. They're not shy about giving recommendations and they haven't led me wrong yet.
We had a group of 8 and I think my dinner was the worst one, so I'll preface this review with my personal preference. I had the shrimp enchiladas, and if I hadn't been so hungry I wouldn't have eaten this entrée. It had absolutely no taste whatsoever. The shrimp were certainly plentiful as promised by our server, but no flavor. The white sauce and Monterey jack cheese were also very bland. Homemade flour tortilla?? Couldn't tell you if I was eating a tortilla or damp cardboard - again, no flavor.
Two of the group had a waldorf chicken salad and enjoyed it, and the 2 who had burgers were satisfied. The chicken bowtie pasta was just so-so, according to the woman who ordered it. The brisket sandwich got the highest scores from our group.
We chose to sit outside because it was way more attractive than inside, which had a lingering musty odor that was quite unpleasant.
There are so many restaurants to choose from on the east side of Tucson - Dakota has slid to the bottom of my list for where to eat in that neighborhood.
We love to dine here. The staff is friendly and will always make your dining experience great! The courtyard and patio are excellent places to dine, especially if you decide to dine with your doggie. Love Dakota. I've enjoyed this restaurant for more than 20 years!
