DG has long been a favorite menu and usually the ambiance and service are great. Though I do understand that Covid has dealt restaurants a major blow, there are those that rise to the challenge and those that do not. Not only was this location woefully understaffed, the manager was rude and unapologetic for the issues. Since we have long experienced much better everything - even at this location, I would just say that maybe they need to be closed until they can figure out how to adapt appropriately.
I enjoyed the food. I had French toast with bacon and potatoes and 2 mimosas.
It could’ve just been an off night for this restaurant, but I won’t let that excuse the lackluster food and service we received. My friend’s food came out undercooked & missing a side, and once it was sent back to be fixed it was over cooked & we discovered some of it had gone rancid (salmon stuffed with crab). My food was pretty good, but one of my sides were cold and overall it lacked seasoning (lamb with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach) Also, service could’ve been better as far as attentiveness and anticipating the need. The salads for appetizers were great, and the dessert we took home was delicious! That was probably the best part of the meal, and that’s a problem.
Considering that dining was held outside due to Covid-19, the overall experience was very good. Delicious selection and large portions. Excellent service. Good valet service but expensive.
Food was excellent. The service was very slow. Not sure why they were so slow. There were only six tables being served. It took forever just to bring us our soup.
We had an over nite layover at an LAX hotel. There are very few options to choose from in the area. The Daily Grill is located at the Westin Hotel. It has been scaled back to a smallish outdoor area which was shaded but somewhat hot because of the August heat. Our server was very friendly and pleasant but had too many tables to handle by herself. She apologized multiple times for the service lag and explained the restaurant had been finding it hard to predict staffing needs due to COVID and the fluctuating customer volumes. All of the food was worth the wait. Everything was fresh and made from scratch. Highly recommended are the Club Sandwich, Bleu Cheese Burger, Sweet Potato Fries, Key Lime Pie and Carrot Cake. The margaritas were very good too.
Outdoor heaters were not working. Servers mask was not well placed.
We were astounded that this once wonderful place was on life support. Dirty glassware and dishes stacked up in the bar and near kitchen. We left just after taking a seat.
The Daily Grill always delivers excellent food at affordable prices. The ambience and attentive service are the icing on the cake!
I was running late for my reservation but they graciously accommodated me. My server was very friendly and knowledgable. All of the food was good (not great, but still good) except the main dish, the filet mignon, which was just okay. It lacked flavor. The only menu item that really stood out for its taste was the sweet potato fries. The server was not overbearingly attentive or disruptive to our meal. We both ordered the mashed potatoes as side dishes but the server informed us that there was a mishap and the potatoes were unservable. No big deal as he was very kind about it and patient as we made other choices. The prix fixe menu online that I was hoping for is out of date which was kind of disappointing but, again, the service made up for it. Overall, it was a good experience. What was lacking in the food was made up for in the service so I'd likely return one day.
Daily Grill is our go to favorite restaurant! Go for the great bread and check out their varied menu!
we arrived at a few minutes before 11 on a sunday morning and were handed the lunch menu. we had driven there for sunday brunch on our way to the airport, so we asked if we could order breakfast. the waiter asked the kitchen and the kitchen agreed to make us breakfast. it took close to 10 minutes for that to happen. it then took close to another 20 minutes for the waiter to return and take our order. we both ordered dishes involving corned beef hash. the corned beef in the hash was practically entirely fat and the "hash" was more like a stew. unappetizing to say the least. I didn't eat mine and when the waitress asked "how was everything" I told her the food was unpleasant. she offered to get me something else. We'd been there over an hour, but I was still hungry so I asked for some fruit. She brought me large slices of pineapple and watermelon that included skin. she didn't bring any silverware. I found some on a nearby table. when she brought the check we hadn't been charged for the 2 corned beef hash dishes so that was nice, but I won't be going back.
Okay for cooked meals, but pretty poor entree salads. Three of us got those and none of us liked ours. Mine was ahi tuna salad. Would you believe that the tuna was a bright red hot dog?! At least it looked like a hot dog. What the heck were they thinking of?? And the thing was crazy spicy, unpleasantly so. Making a tuna steak to look like an imitation hot dog just makes no sense. But the spinach artichoke dip was excellent.
I found a new “go to” restaurant when I stay near LAX conveniently located in the Westin hotel, next to Thrifty Car Rental. It is within walking distance of other hotels near LAX and is worth the walk. My wife and I enjoyed the Shrimp Pomodoro and Moroccan Spiced Chicken. Be sure to leave room for dessert, the apple blueberry fruit cobbler was a nice finish to the meal. Sergio provided excellent service.
Everything is always good, the food, service, value, cleanliness etc....
Server was good, the food was prepared well and the restaurant is excellent. The only issue is the cost of parking, even with validation. The Daily Grill should validate the entire parking fee.
Wonderful high end service, elegant food with filling sized servings. Warm crusty bread to start. Loved the pork chops!
Very good as usual.
The Daily Grill delivers a consistent excellent quality dining experience. Our waiter has been with this restaurant for many years and is an asset to the organization. He brought more of the fresh-baked bread and checked back on drinks. We ordered off of the lunch menu and everything was prepared perfectly. I am pretty sure no went home hungry. The only glitch was the receptionist could not find the reservation. She was looking at the wrong day.
Very friendly staff and good food. Convenient to airport.
1. Trout did not taste like fish-nasty,
2. Burger did not taste fresh, very oily,
3. Strawberry short cake was not a cake. It was A Pasty Biscuit with runny watery syrup.
We sent all three back to the kitchen.
Ordered a wedge salad which was fine. Cant really mess up lettuce.
Ordered the chicken wings. Generic
.
Waiter was attentive and apologetic.
They said they were doing away with the point system when I inquired. But I pulled it up on the web and they then applied.
Service was lacking and the attention to the quality and presentation of the meal was much less than prior visits.
Sand dabs have been removed
Frequent diner program suspended
Prices have been raised too high
Good quality
Must have chicken pie
Server Bill was very attentive, As i t was late afternoon the restaurant was relatively quiet. All the dishes were up to the Daily Grill's high standards.
A few issues with our Friday evening meal before a concert at the Forum. 1 order was entirely incorrect and two were severely overcooked. One member of the wait staff did not know what ranch dressing was for the buffalo wings. Waiter did not have a good grasp of the bar selections. We saw our waiter speaking to the manager about the issues and manager never came over. Waiter did offer us complimentary dessert, but we declined as we ran out of time.
Our server Marilyn was great; however it took quite a while for the food to arrive, a good 20 minutes and we were there early!
Our server was wonderful. Service was great. Food was very good
A group of us stopped here during an overnight stay in Los Angeles between very long airplane trips. This restaurant was an excellent choice. The food was good, with a lot of attractive selections. The wine list was manageable with good selections by the glass. Service was fast, very professional, and friendly: fast without being rushed. The welcome was efficient and rather cool. The ambience is quite nice; what you would expect from a business casual kind of dining room, but with very nice touches: wood paneling/lighting, etc. It was a bit expensive, but about what you would expect for this level at a Westin hotel near the Los Angeles airport.
Nice place to eat. We got there early and got our choice of seats. Nice wait staff. Food was pretty good.
Quick dinner before heading to the Forum for a concert. The restaurant is in a convenient location to LAX and the Forum off of Century. The atmosphere of the restaurant was fine as was the food. The service was very slow. It took about 25mins before the waiter asked us what we wanted to drink. In addition, when we exited the parking lot, one member of the party did not have a parking validation that worked. For myself, the validation, covered two hours, but with the wait times we were there for an extra 30mins. This extra 30mins costed us $20 plus $2 in tax for a total of $22. The waiter said that you only are are charged 25% of the rate, which the hotel posts as $40. This was inaccurate information. The restaurant really needs to do more to advise patrons of these rates so as to not be surprised when exiting the parking lot.
The DG is pretty steady. And this was no exception. The service was a little spotty because our server was covering too many tables. There was no real attention, but it was still okay. We ordered 2 burgers, both were overdone. My bacon was forgotten, but they brought it and when I added it was way too salty. We didn’t have time to tarry, on our way to see Elton John, so we quickly forgot about our food.
Set up reservation a week in advance. Timing worked out perfectly. Special occasion was for Elton John concert at the Forum. Staten was our server and was perfect with his timing and delivery. He was sensitive to the fact of our show times. The food was done just right and the drinks were tasty and not over done. We had the skirt steak salad and salmon with vegetables. Drinks were cosmos with Tito’s vodka and an old fashioned. Desert was key lime pie to share. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend this Daily Grill location for eating before your airport flights and Forum concerts. Thank you Staten for being professional and on your game.
Dinner was awesome and it was a full menu for New Year's Eve! The service, ambiance, and drinks were very good as well. Definitely would dine there again.
We had Christmas dinner here. It was very enjoyable. The servers were exceptional, and the atmosphere was great. Food was the Daily Grill's standard of high quality - we loved it!
Extremely Disappointing Christmas Dinner!
I used to LOVE Daily Grill, but they have deteriorated significantly, if this experience is any indication of their current state. First off, my Open Table reservation was not confirmed when we gave our name, so I received an email (as we were departing our disappointing meal) asking why I was a no-show. We had to return to the host station to get this rectified.
The restaurant was not busy at all when we arrived at exactly 4pm, yet the service was remarkably slow, including just being greeted and giving our beverage order and receiving those beverages. We ordered iced tea and water. Once we finally received those, even though straws were not offered (which is great with us), we weren't even offered spoons or sweetener. When we requested those, the spoons we received were, basically, soup spoons - they were absolutely huge and not at all appropriate for beverages.
We started with an order of onion rings, which were brought promptly and were quite delicious. Then, my guest and I ordered identical meals of Char-broiled 12 oz. rib-eye cooked medium, and identical sides of creamed spinach and mashed potatoes, for a whopping price of $37.75 each! Our steaks were both so overcooked, there was not even a hint of pink in either one. I was absolutely starving after traveling that day, so I begrudgingly ate mine out of dire hunger. My guest took about two bites of his and gave up. The garlic butter would have made them delicious if they weren't so overcooked.
The red mashed potatoes were good, but a bit dry. I had to ask for brown gravy to give them some moisture. The creamed spinach was runny and seemed pre-made/packaged.
Our server checked back with us ONCE to see how we were doing, toward the end of our meal. We explained our disappointment and she told us that it happens frequently (?).
Because of the slow service, we exceeded our 2 hr free parking by 10 mins and were told we would have to pay $22(!) which we refused.
Victor, our server, was helpful and polite. Good food.
Good location near LAX if you have to be in the area. One caveat, even with validation, the parking costs as much as dinner.
Dinner was delicious had short ribs with horseradish mashed potatoes
And filet taco for appetizer
