Service was very good, but unfortunately we did not enjoy the food here. The food was bland, even the guacamole. Prices were on the high side. There are better Mexican restaurants close by and not so pricey.
The restaurant was not opened on 1/29/21. We were very disappointed that OpenTable accepted our reservation!
The restaurant was running behind on reservations times, but the customer service given to us was excellent always checking in on us till our table was ready.
I love the set up they have outside. Its very cozy and private. However; the service at the time we went, (happy hour) was very very slow and only ended up having 2 drinks in 2 hours. My food was pretty darn good, but my friend got the calamari and it was quite fishy. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. We will try again for sure. Maybe for dinner next time. Menu items looked intriguing
Yummy food, clean and fresh. Think the opposite of Celias!!!
I was really excited to try this restaurant since it was something new and different in downtown San Mateo. I can tell they’re still trying to work out some of the operational processes. I had a reservation and was promptly seated in their nice (heated) outdoor setup, then was quickly brought complementary chips and salsa for the table. But unfortunately that’s where the attentiveness stopped. We waited for about 10 min and watched several members of the wait staff walk by our table and take orders from other tables until eventually we had to flag someone down so that we could order drinks and entrees. The drinks were delicious and were appropriately priced for the quality. Then the food- we watched a server bring out our food to the table beside us put it on their table then realize there had been a mistake and brought the food to our table. Now, normally, I wouldn’t mind this since mistakes happen, but COVID cases are surging and I wasn’t really excited about my food being placed in front of someone else as they talked over it then brought to my table. The portions of the food were decent, although for the quality I think it is a little pricy. I ordered the sopes trio and my partner ordered the barbacoa which came with a side salad and rice & beans. Overall, the flavor was lacking, especially in the barbacoa. San Mateo has many small taquerias that I visit often and can’t really justify paying the price for Dahlia when you have so many of these places nearby.
I don’t think I will be trying Dahlia again soon. Perhaps in a few months after they’ve worked out the kinks.
Excellent food, beautiful presentation, energetic server, reasonably priced!
Will be recommending to friends!💕
Food was underwhelming and over priced. Chicken was under cooked in grill platter, chips not fresh. Service was good and waiter accommodated us. Still disappointing for a expensive Mexican restaurant.
Tried Dahlia for lunch then dinner as new Mexican restaurant in San Mateo. Upscale food with little different style, generous portions and varied menu. Being new they have some minor bugs to work out, but flavors and creativity are excellent, portions for dinner a bit too large, but smaller portions for lunch are perfect. Good addition to San Mateo eateries.
We had a great date night. The service was quick and followed all the safety guidelines.
Few bumps because they’ve only been open a few days, but remarkable there weren’t a boatload of bumps like most places I’ve eaten that have only been open a few days. Great addition to downtown San Mateo.
Salsa was horrible
Too bad we were so excited about a new restaurant
They didn't spray down the tables between uses. They gave a us a dirty to go box. The meal was overly expensive. Not going back.
