In my view, as an Israeli, the chef have Lovely interpretation of Mediterranean cuisine, interesting flavors and combinations that are not specific to any region of the Mediterranean, rather a view of the vibe… the food is served in a playful manner, the restaurant main attraction for me, is definitely the oversized (sexy) wood burning Taboon oven, (see pictures) stunning and stylish, the big bar and quaint dining room allows for a quiet Dining and conversation, music playing in the background, and it’s retro look is attractive, our server Noah is a knowledgeable, kind and efficient- he knows the menu in and outs, and gave us great suggestions, as to what to enjoy, and what are his favorites, what’s popular and when to come (for dinner specials) next time around. The manager is very visible in the dining room, and he keeps the place running like a well oiled machine.
Dessert menu again is interesting and playful, was too full to try anything, but will keep room next time We come.
I would recommend this restaurant whole heartedly.
The restaurant was clean and the bathroom was very clean and laborious as well, see pics.
Excellent food and the wiener schnitzel was terrific. Will try it next time we go to this restaurant.
A very pleasant space, but no dividers between indoor tables. The flash-fried cauliflower was excellent, the fries served excellently crisp and hot, but not very tasty; the burger, which sounds excellent on the menu, was actually pretty greasy and sat badly in the stomach.
The best new restaurant on the Upper West Side. The food was spectacular, the service - friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back!
Brunch was amazing! The ambiance and setup was perfect for a friend catch up and the food was delicious. Will definitely add this place to my regular spots
Spotty service but restaurant realized it and send complimentary dessert and discounted check. Nice customer recognition. Great brunch cocktails
Unexpected and delicious flavors. The cod dish was amazing and the Silan dessert was a winner. Mezze 3X portions could have been ever so slightly larger but its understandable considering the tough times for restaurants.
The food is excellent, albeit overpriced. The service is quite awful. And the most notable is the extremely loud club music blaring throughout the restaurant. It cheapens the experience significantly.
This was my second time there and I may not return after this experience.
Super delicious, lovely ambiance, fantastic service.
Excellent, as always. Food is fantastic and service is perfect
Excellent food, meat eaters and veggie options, great service and value. Highly recommend
The food was delicious, the service very good but the value for the amount of food in the small plates was pitiful. I realize these are tough times for restaurants, but I will not be back! The crispy potatoes were over spiced with something unrecognizable and too dry to really eat. When it's as cold as it was last night, it is too cold for their heat lamps to be comfortable. Bring your own blanket for what's under the table.
Sat outside under heaters. Great waiter
Great service and food.
The food was excellent
Service was great
Must must try the lamb
It was good
Great good, excellent and professional service, especially with Ann
Wonderful brunch - great outdoor, heated seating, with excellent food, and extraordinary hospitality.
Incredible food and wine! Great service! Beautiful restaurant!
First time. Great experience great food. Great service
We loved our food! The bread was amazing and so was the cauliflower and hummus. We will definitely be back.
Delicious middle eastern food - esp the crispy lamb, the casesar salad and the beets. Nice addition to the UWS. Heated outdoor dining too!
Had many small plates among three people…mushroom dumplings did not taste like any mushrooms inside? All ingredients chopped to tiny bits…high profit for restaurant judging by ingredients…although nice ambiance and good service…would not go again
My 2nd time at Dagon. Our favorites are the Cauliflower, Kubaneh bread with Labneh, the Levantine Ceasar Salad, The Lamb and the Beef Kebab. The BBQ chicken and the Fattoush salad are good but not special like the other dishes. Great drink menu too.
Food was amazing. I loved it.
exceptional food, great service, pretty noisey
Had lunch in nicely heated roadside structure.Shared delicious mezze of liver, tahini, carrots and Jerusalem bagel . Everything was perfectly seasoned, portion appropriate and delicious. Hope that someday, when Covid finishes with us, that I will be able to eat in the lovely dining room I passed on the way to the ladies room.
This restaurant is great and the food is always delicious.
Outdoor dining was great. Warm even though cold. Food was excellent. The spicing was just delicious.
We love every meal we share at Dagon!
They kept on coming to clear our plates. We were just taking time and chatting and pushing. It's been 30-40 years since started eating dinner and we were just eating slowly. Every time I put the fork down, someone came and tried to clean it up. Even We were having an important conversation and the waitress ad servers kept asking what we needed, and the woman who looked like a manager tried to get it out without even looking at half a bottle of leftover beer. More importantly, I was even more shocked to find out that it was $35 to have a few vegetables on a plate with two tasteless small minced meat skewers. My conclusion was that I tried this place because Yelp reviews were good, but in my opinion they couldn't get such good reviews unless they bought a star from the Yelp company. It was the worst restaurant I've been to in recent years.
Vegetable soup needs. It was low in flavor and good veggies. In winter you should have more than one soup choice.
Burger was good.
Staff carefully checked vaccination status and were all masked. The 2 of us sat upstairs, which gave more space, seemed a bit more relaxed and less noisy (fairly loud music playing below). After having heard portions were small, we ordered a lot: 3 dips (labneh, liver mousse, and muhamarra, with fantastic flatbread), 2 small plates (cauliflower and shisbarak), 2 entrees (chicken and beef), and side of crispy zaatar potato. Every single thing was truly excellent. We were too stuffed for dessert: portions aren’t too small, and much of the food feels on the heavy side. Service was top notch, though a bit quick. Overall excellent dining experience. While not cheap, it was as expected for the quality. Only concern is that if it’s busy, it might get pretty noisy and feel cramped, especially downstairs. Otherwise, highly recommended.
All the food was fantastic. The kubbaneh is exceptional!
The food is outstanding. Literally perfection. So glad this gem exists in the UWS. And the really fun and retro decor and design of the space makes it even more inviting. The fluted bar island… I mean, I lost my mind. Just wow-ed!
This was such a nice dinner!!! I asked in my reservation if they could write congratulations on the dessert plate to surprise my mom and they did. All of the food was amazing and our server was so nice!! A wonderful time
Amazing breads and mezzos, also main dishes are incredible. Great cocktails and service.
It was my first time there and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The food tasted fresh and flavorful. I went for lunch and want to return for dinner.
One complaint, server had his mask down below his nose quite often, and service was not great.
