About
The restaurant has two main dining rooms with the second floor offering an energetic, stylish, sexy, and slightly gritty atmosphere and the third floor offering a more refined and elegant dining room. Designed by George Wong Design, it also includes an outdoor garden on the second floor and an additional outdoor terrace on the third floor, along with a few private dining rooms.
Dauerhaft geschlossen. Wurde einem jedoch nicht mitgeteilt! Standen vor geschlossenen Türen. Unverschämt, dass keine Mitteilung an die Leite gemacht wurde, dir bereits eine Reservierung hatten!
I arrived and the restaurant was closed and I had booked this for clients. I was too embarrassed and left stranded on a Friday night with no where to go in nyc. As you can imagine all decent restaurant at that time of the evening were booked.
Bitterly disappointed that I had no communication either from open table or the restaurant itself. I am now looking at using other apps to book my dining experience that I can rely on
Apparently the restaurant was closed down several days in advance of our reservation due to refrigeration issues yet we received a confirmation of our reservation with a request to confirm our intention to show up- which we confirmed only to arrive with a group of 9 (5 kids) to find out it was closed. It took several telephone calls to figure out what happened and of course we still had to find an alternative place that would take 9 the Wednesday evening before thanksgiving...not an easy task. Not sure how open table and restaurants feed information back and forth but as this was a known even at least one week in advance of our reservation, a courtesy call or email would have been appreciated...too bad, we have dined at Da Dong in Beijing and enjoyed it everytime and it’s a favorite with the kids...
Food was not up to standard. The Peking duck was dry, so were the crepes. There was very little accompaniments for the duck. Service was a little rushed.
Excellent! Great atmosphere. Perfect for a business meeting and a delicious meal. Also, tremendous service. We’ll definitely be back.
The roast duck did not worth the price. The dish choices are not plenty enough.
Food is ok. Service was good
Our server Connie is attentive and a pro. Drinks and water glasses were refilled promptly. Food was mediocre - sizzling beef, pea shoots, vegetable buns, avocado noodles but the 1/2 duck was very dry and bland. The sauces and accoutrements couldn't help revive it. Cod served in the skillet was a bit spicy but pretty bland as well - a little salt would have helped.
Nice service and great food
We ordered the combo for four people and the food had a really bad taste. The dumplings are iced inside and the meat was just like uncooked. When we told the manager, he asked us "do you mean the dumplings should be well done?". omg! I have never heard that dumplings can even be divided by the level of medium, medium well, and well done both in China and US. It is really a funny question! The appetizer almost ruined the dinner. The CHERRY FOIE GRAS was really disgusting and you just like eating lard. All the dishes look pretty and if you would like to come here for dinner, just take some photos and do not expect anything delicious.
Duck is the best in town!
Service could be better, especially timing. Food was great
A high end Chinese restaurant with fancy venue and expensive menu, It is however not DaDong quality, no where close.
Food unspectacular compared to Chinese standards.
Not traditional Peking duck really, and the dishes served not that hot, 3 out of 10 I will give to the taste of food. Not worse the price, will not recommend to anyone.
Great quality food. I am a fan of DaDong in Beijing, and so pleased to see you have opened in NYC!
went to there for business meal. The plate is too big but the table is small for display. the food is good overall.
I was great experience of the lunch at Dadong. Everything is delicious and beautiful as well, especially the cherry foie gras!
Great food and service!
Amazing service and staff
We have dined at DaDong several times in the past several months.
This dinner is the worst. The food is poorly prepared, and the service is terrible. Our waiter was always busy and does not pay any attention to our table. We had to waive to him several times whenever we need service.
It’s too cold inside and light to dim.
Food is mediocre
Great experience - amazing food and even better service.
Very upscale Chinese restaurant that specializes in roasted Peking Duck. Da Dong is actually a branch of a famous Beijing duck restaurant. Service was attentive but not pushy. Good wine list.
The menu is well focused and the food was excellent, although portions were small for our table of 5. You will need to order 1-2 additional dishes per person in addition to a half or whole roasted duck. The whole duck comfortably fed 5 people.
Service is lacking proper professionalism. As simple as getting water , have to ask for 3 times !
Celebrated anniversary. Great food and service. Very enjoyable experience.
Environment and location are pretty decent. Service is great. Speed of food is relatively slow. Quality of food varies. The roasted duck is not that awesome as we expected but ok for whomever wanna have a taste of Peking roasted duck. Instead, the asparagus and kungpao shrimp and the Zhajiang noodle are surprisingly good. All in all, a lovely experience.
best in town
That could not be the better one!
They should bring caviar to the menu!!!
We had an early dinner. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. However, the service was very fast. They brought our Peking duck while we just received our appetizers. We asked the waitress not to rush us, but that didn't help. They served us the duck while we still ate the appetizers. I would never go back again.
I went for the Duck, is it as good as in China? Yes, it is. I also had the fish dish, not available in China and it was every bit as good as the Duck. The service was outstanding. I would go back.
Expensive and a little noisy, but the food is very good.
The service was excellent.
Reunión familiar, final de vacaciones en NY
Nice place, famous restaurant in China, but the tastes are so average here. It’s overpriced
Menu is varied and sophisticated.
Beautiful surroundings.
Best duck EVER but the short rib stir fry needs a shout out too.
Service staff were not sensitive to the fact that we had a broadway play to catch even though we mentioned it a number of times, including before we ordered. It caused us to be late to our show.
I was surprised by this given its location would make this a pre-theatre dinner spot for many.
Very disappointed esp since I’m a regular at da dong.
Disappointed with the RW dinner here: very loud, had a small problem about the service, some good menu items but very disappointed with my entree of "pork two ways"; one way was sweet-and-sour pork chunks with pineapple, not too bad but not really interesting; the second way was five 4-inch slices of bacon! Is this really worth the money, even at Restaurant Week prices? The restaurant is smaller than I expected, and in light of this experience I would not return.
