Da Mario Restaurant
Italian food that is true to our home. Settle in at a real Italian table, where rib eye comes after your pasta, ricotta pairs perfectly with chocolate, and nine servings are par for the course. Everyone is la famiglia. Every serving has family style. And gestures speak louder than words. At Da Mario, the meats hang high from the ceilings. Vino drips from the vine. Fromaggio flies fresh across the Atlantic. Our meals are made with spoonfuls of olive oil and dollops of magic. Clink a glass. Pass a plate. Share secondos. Time well spent is time well fed. Il dolce Da Mario!
We were very disappointed. The restaurant has changed. Service, food quality, ambiance all have been affected. It’s too bad. It started out great but my sense is it’s on the way out. Maximizing profits with lower end food and increased prices. Service was just bad, period. We won’t be back.
We apologize you were disappointed in some way, but your anonymous review is unfounded and your assertion that Da Mario is "on its way out" is inaccurate. Chef Luigi Iannuario never compromises on the authentically Italian ingredients he procures, prepares, and serves. Food quality is his highest priority. Other than new summer items, the menu is unchanged, as is Da Mario's casual elegance. We hope you spoke to a manager so we could address your concerns.
Staff was accomadsting when ee sasked to change tables. Food was very good! Server was attentive and manager spent quality time at table. Wine steward was also good. S bit loud and pricey but decent value. Would return and recommend.
Our waitress was clueless. Not only was she unable to give any direction on the wine list which was mostly Italian, she tried to convince us that the red wine she poured was rose ("Some are dark red", she actually said.), she brought our daughter the wrong meal. My Linguini with clams was, at most, meh.
Robert, we apologize for the experience you encountered regarding your wine service. Generally, our sommelier, Jaycen Woods, or our bar manager make recommendations regarding wine. Our manager has addressed your experience with the server involved and she is being retrained. We hope you accept our apologies and will allow us to make this up to you on your next visit.
Can't go wrong with homemade pastas, great staff, wonderful drinks, and an elegant atmosphere. We celebrated our anniversary here for 2 years in a row, now.
Food was great. The waitress was foreign so very hard to understand with the noise level.
Overall it was a nice evening and we will be back.
4th time to Da Mario. The first three were excellent. This time was not good. Not one of our three meals were cooked to order. After spending $450 on a bottle of wine, one would think we’d get excellent service but it was so-so. They did comp our desserts but damage had been done by then. I do think Da Mario’s wants to differentiate themselves but inconsistency won’t cut it at their price point.
We appreviate your candor and input. We are concerned about your food experience and we hope that you will notify our manager and remind him of your concerns when you next visit. We sincerely apologize that your were not completely delighted on this visit.
We were satisfied with the high-class atmosphere, excellent food, and courteous services.
Amazing food, my favorite Italian restaurant! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
We had horrible service. And the managers were of no help. They were too busy swooning over a 5 year old boy wearing sun glasses. We couldn’t get a bus boy or girl to clear our table. Our waitress had too many tables so we didn’t blame her. It was more on poor management of the place.
Our appetizers were good and my husband had a wonderful branzino dinner. I ordered the linguine with clams, it wasn’t very good.
We ordered a bottle of wine however we were told it was the only bottle of that type of wine so we were disappointed. We would have ordered more but we never saw the sommelier, apparently our bottle of wine wasn’t expensive enough for him to serve us.
This restaurant could have been so much better but if they don’t get the service fixed people will stop going. There are too many options in a town like this.
We thank you for your review and we are sorry that you felt that you were underserved. We recognize that you have several fine dining options, but we hope that you will return to offer us another chance to delight you.
Once again, superlative. What do you do when a restaurant this good opens near you? Take advantage of your luck!
This time the excellent porkchop and the Dover sole again. Both brilliant. Asked Jaycen for a wine pairing and he picked a lovely, light, tangy red from Northern Italy.
The dessert special was a chocolate and caramel budino that was spectacularly scrumptious.
Such skill and pride, so close to us!
Great ambiance, however food is not up to the same level.
Our server Giulia was amazing, she suggested the perfect dishes, my sister and I fell in love with the place
Subpar Italian food. Calimari tasted like rubber, tomatoes in Caprese were tasteless and lamb was undercooked and simply OK. With the prices they charge you wood expect way way more. Also no bread for table and no free water (they push and keep automatically filling bottled water which continues to drive up already expensive prices). I don’t mind paying for good good but this is simply not worth price.
We are sorry that you did not find the food to be to your taste. We always offer complimentary bread selections and a choice of tap or bottled water. We hope that you brought your concerns to the attention of our manager so that we might have tried to address them. We hope that you will reconsider and try us again.
They didn’t have the table side cheese wheel available and nothing was said until we went to order. That was one of the main reasons to dine there for the experience of that service and flavors. We had first time guests with us and it was not handled very well. Also we were told there was not coverage at the bar to do the bar cart. Overall seemed like poor planning and unorganized especially for the bill.
We are sorry that you are disappointed in missing out on a portion of the Da Mario experience that you had hoped to enjoy. For now, the fettuccine fiamma is prepared in our kitchen to expedite our table service. Also, for the convenience of our guests, we prepare all beverages at our bar rather than tableside. We hope you will try us again, so that we may provide you with a more memorable visit.
Exquisite Italian food.
Grazie! Come again!
Always love eating at Da Mario. I felt there were more pasta dishes previously, however we greatly enjoyed what we had.
One of the several standout things with Da Mario was that when you had leftovers, the staff would box and store them up front. This time, we were given the leftovers at the table while still eating and it made DM feel less special. It’s the little touches that make a great difference and I hope it was just a one time thing instead of the new normal.
Dinner with out of town guests
The service and food here are fantastic - as many would I highly recommend the fettuccine though I was sad to see they dropped the table side service due to the cities concern.
Always one of my favorite stops. The food is outstanding and the staff is professional and friendly. Never disappoints!
Excellent food and service. Jacquline (bartender) and Julia (wait staff) provided excellent service!
The staff and service were wonderful. We took our 9 and 12 year old for our anniversary dinner and it was a perfect spot. They loved the food as much as we did. Thank you and we will be back!
Thank you for allowing us to share your special celebration!
Absolutely amazing!!! Great chef, accomplished and knowledgeable staff, scrumptious food and wine, elegant atmosphere and all at the same time down to earth!!! Will be back again and again!!! Fresh truffles were awesome!!! Not to be missed !!!!
This should be on your list of must try restaurants. It’s easily the best Italian food I’ve had in Texas, and I’m Italian and from New York/Philadelphia where there’s no shortage of awesome Italian restaurant options.
Great ambiance, wait staff, awesome wine list and the chef is an active part of the dining experience.
Love that they opened in Frisco!!!
Quality has changed at this restaurant. Used to be delicious. The service is very good. We love the mussels and the sauce they are using now is very watered down. Very stingy with bread and the actual dishes in the table were dirty. We were a tad disappointed and will probably not go back. It was one of our favorites for two years now. Love the setting in the restaurant but the food has gone down hill.
Doug, we appreciate your review. We are pleased that you previously have enjoyed Da Mario during our year of serving Frisco. I'm sorry you weren't delighted during your last visit. I trust that you spoke to a manager so that we could immediately correct anything that kept you from enjoying a wonderful experience. Please visit again and let us delight you. -Luigi Iannuario, Executive Chef
It is not worth the cost. The experience was nothing special.
We are sorry that you did not feel that our authentic Italian cuisine and hospitality were less than an exemplary value. We hope that you will message us to let us know how to improve your next experience with us.
The service was slow and the food was cold as was the coffee. Not one of our best experiences
We are sorry that you were displeased with your experience. We hope that you brought your concerns to the attention of our managers before you left the restaurant. We also hope that you will try us once again, so that you may enjoy the type of 5-star experience for which Da Mario is known.
Anulatti was the best pasta I have ever had. Service was excellent. Noise was a little high.
Wonderful food and the service was incredible! We have been there twice!
Grazie! We look forward to your next visit.
Our sixth or seventh visit. Outstanding, again, as with every time before. An oasis of fine dining that stands above the many $$$ and $$$$ restaurants in the area.
You're very kind and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your experience.
The steaks were so delicious and good sized. Love the sides. The service Dana provided was so personable.
Food was excellent as usual. We have come here several times and they are yet to disappoint. It is my son’s favorite restaurant. The pizzas are divine.
Great location, great food, and the staff is always amazing!
I went with my wife for our 10th anniversary. The service was phenomenal. We were well taken care of by multiple people, and at the same time we never felt rushed. My wife and I both chose a different hand rolled pasta dish, and they were both delicious. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!!
I marked on the reservation that it was a special occasion but no one asked us about it or made us feel special. We tried a cocktail we’d had at Da Mario before and liked, but this time it was way too strong and did not taste good. We had to swap it out for a more expensive glass of wine, but after that happened our server started coming over very infrequently and seemed to be staying away on purpose. Our salad was brought over but no one offered to pepper it and we had to wait 10-15 minutes before we could finally flag our server to come over. We also did not receive our bread until then. We decided that for the cost of Da Mario, we were not getting the experience we had come for and so forewent dessert and any dessert drinks we would have had. If tonight had been our only experience, we would never be returning.
We were very disappointed that they did not have the Parmesan wheel for their signature dish. Our waitress did not advise so the food came out and we were very surprised. She wasn’t very helpful even though we were trying to get her to help us find the best options for a group. Needless to say, we left hungry and let down.
We are very sorry that your Da Mario experience was not perfect in every way. Although the fettuccine fiamma was not being prepared tableside during your visit, it was lovingly prepared in our kitchen, in an 85-pound wheel of three-year aged parmesan cheese. Please try us again in the future. Ask for me and I will make suggestions that are suited to your every desire. Thanks for visiting. - Luigi Iannuario Executive Chef
Very expensive for the quality of food they serve, Not inpresed at all
Great service and wonderful food
I didn’t look close enough at the check, but $15 to add chicken to fettuccine is insane, and I have no clue what 2 btl frizzante is. I drank tap water.
I got ripped off by this place and I think there was something bad with the food because I got violently ill as soon as I got home.
