Food was standard pub food; nothing to write home about.
Food was amazing & the best drinks!!! Love the atmosphere.
Brendan the owner runs a very tight ship!
Nice local dining experience in terms of ambiance and food quality. Service was good and helpful in terms of selecting a beer. The Brussel sprout soup was particularly good. I’d try the corn beef cabbage sandwich next time. We both had blackened salmon salad which was good but not spectacular. I live in the neighborhood so it’s nice to have a cozy bar for casual dining close by.
Went for the second year with my teen grandson to celebrate his birthday.
We both enjoy sitting by the fireplace; and he, the best and biggest Reuben around.
Knowing it was his birthday, the waiter brought warm bread pudding topped with a candle, 2 little plates and spoons for us to share the delightful treat.
We'll keep coming back!
Try the Poutine fries !! Most excellent choice. Very nice servers ... always great ambiance
We shared a dinner salad and grilled cheese (with sun dried tomatoes and bacon) and they were wonderful. Perfect for the light and tasty food we prefer for a late dinner with drinks after a movie. Located right behind River East theaters, this is a perfect after-movie location. Service was impeccable and gracious.
Good, reasonably priced food, is fast becoming a rarity in Chicago. D4 manages to accomplish this feat while providing a pleasantly cozy atmosphere. We were greeted immediately, seated, and our server appeared shortly thereafter. As we were early diners, a Happy Hour menu was proffered with several surprisingly affordable appetizers. I chose a three-slider combo; two burgers and a pulled-pork selection. The burgers were juicy, slightly charred, and smoky. Topped with Irish cheddar and balsamic braised red onion, these were condiments that complimented, rather than overpowered. Pulled-Pork was obligingly tender with a house-made sauce and Jicama slaw. My French Onion soup selection was simply average. My wife had a small order of fish and chips which could have easily been shared; fresh and flaky beer battered Atlantic cod, house cut fries, coleslaw, and a lovely dill-infused tartar, made for a lovely entree. Worth a visit, D4 is much more than the sum of its parts.
Oh man it was great. The food was delicious, the service was amazing and the beer was yummy. 10/10 would do again.
We eat here pretty often, and the food on this evening was very good, as usual. One point that may make us a less frequent visitor--we like to have soft drinks with our meals, and most restaurants have fountain drinks with free refills. For $2.50 to $3.00, one would anticipate refills. D4 now serves Coke products in those little 7-8 ounce bottles for $2.50. I think the Coke we bought when I was a kid 50 years ago was the same size bottle and cost a dime in the vending machine.
