Sorry but I cant recommend this restaurant. It was my second time here and last. They try but are very unorganized. The food is mediocre and over priced. Drinks are ok. Pizza is likely the best but very small pie fir the price. 12.00 would be good. 17/18.00 is crazy for a 14inch pie. I will say staff is friendly..
The service was slow and terrible. The food was not worth the price at all. (Appetizers are better than the entrees). We never got our second round of drinks from the bar. Bill was high for the quality of food and service level. Not going back.
Excellent food, great ambiance, great service. During the meal, the owner stopped by to make sure everything was wonderful. Great place for dinner or lunch! I will be back!
Lovely renovations, service was very slow. Food was good, wish it arrived in a more timely fashion.
I have always loved this restaurant through its several iterations, but it is now way too noisy. I will still come there, but wish you hadn’t removed the carpets and the partition in front of the bar.
Friendly nice atmosphere however they are in no rush! If your not in a hurry it’s great!
First time we been to Cypress Tavern. The food was good. I had a steak and the misses had Sheperd's Pie. Both were made very well, big portions and priced very reasonably. I would say less expensive than a typical resturant. We also hit happy hour so our drinks were a couple dollars off which was nice. We will definetly go back again.
Amazing pizza and the best chicken Milanese.
Went to see friends band and decided to have dinner first! Great decision, great food and great service!
This place has gone downhill. They changed it to be more of a Tavern and the quality of the food significantly decreased.
Food was average at best, service was not good. Way overpriced for what you get.
Sat outdoors which was really nice was a beautiful cool evening however a bit buggy . Food was OK Drinks were just OK. Do not order the Sangria was the worst ever. Service was OK. It was just an OK restaurant. It was crowded so maybe others will enjoy it. I did not.
I cannot provide a review. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were surprised to find it closed. This was very disappointing. It also suggests that OpenTable should have not have enabled a reservation to be made at this restaurant. We drove an hour from home to get there. I have never had this type of experience previously with OpenTable.
We had a nice dinner for Mothers Day with 6 people. Everyone was happy with their food and the waitress was pleasant and attentive. Good Greek food selection and very ample quantities.
We ate on a Saturday early dinner. One of two tables in the restaurant and the service was SLOW. Took a while to get our drinks our app order and our dinner. The app was forgotten and came out 5 minutes before the entrees. Food was prepared well. But again service was very slow for only having two tables in the dinning room.
Service was great, but some of the food just didn't live up to our expectations for the price. The food there looks great, no doubt about it, but don't let good looking presentation deceive you. Every entree had some one thing wrong with it that just led to a disappointing meal. Too much butter in one, too well done on another, too bland on another. It could be a five star contender if they could just get the recipes exactly right. The starter bread strips with spread they give you at the start are very delicious but please, never ever serve stale rolls along with them. That's just a big turnoff for us from the start. Fresh bread and rolls daily please! The Cypress eggplant chips and spread were a big hit as were most of the appetizers. The appetizers were definitely prepared much better then the entrees were. Seems like some of the desserts were not homemade and weren't very good at all, ask first if they are made in house to get something fresh. The Baklava was as hard as a rock, it could not possibly have been made that day.
Variety of choices, great quality food
Waitress tried hard, but did not know the menu. Chef would not debone the whole branzino special sowe all ordered lamb shank special. Was just ok. Didn't taste feshly prepared as it was tough and not heated through.. Baklava for dessert was dry and probably the worst I have ever had.. Greek food was disappointing.. maybe bar food is better?
Ambience and noise level were better after Happy Hour crowd left around 6:30. Service was very attentive, and not intrusive. Food was quite good, but not real Greek, despite name. Would recommend.
Very good food and service, but bar area got noisy. Upstairs might have been better seating.
The service was extremely horrible it took forever for our order to be placed and then forever for order to be cooked I would never recommend this resturant to anyone. Very disappointed
The inside is modern, the bar area and the dining area are cozy. Stepping outside to eat The road traffic behind the restaurant fades away in the distance. The hostess seated us without giving us menus, the waitress came by within five minutes asking for a drink order when we had not been given a menu yet. Apparently this is a standing rule at this restaurant that the hostess does not bring menus when first seated. The food came out in a timely, not rushed, manner. It was excellent!! By the waitress service was good, the busboy service not so great. Several occasions busboys would pass our table with obvious empty plates stacked and pushed to the other end of the table away from us and still no one had cleared our plates. Very friendly service. In the outside seating area a live band plays every Thursday night. They use microphones and amplifiers when really the space is so small it is not necessary, which makes the outdoor seating area quite loud, too loud to get a conversation in over a nice dinner. The good thing however is the band does not start to play until 8 PM at night, so if you are in the mood for a night out on a nice romantic date, this is the place to go but make sure you go before 8 PM
Overall we will definitely be visiting this place again
This is what you'd call a mixed review. My wife and I took our two daughters, 23 and 13, with us to dinner at about 6 pm on a Saturday. Quick take: my wife and I both liked our dishes-- she had pasta with seafood, I had a fish. Both were prepared quite well, good original recipes I thought, but not radical. Good food. My older daughter also got pasta with seafood (I think clams) and she did not like the taste of her clams. My younger daughter simply didn't like the menu and refused to order anything.
The waitress was midrange in quality; had to wait too long for her to ask if there was anything we'd like. She seemed to have too many guests to serve, considering how often we saw her.
The time it took to get our entrees was just approaching complaint level when the food arrived, not very promptly for a 6 pm dinner, but it was hot on arrival.
To sum up, on the food itself, 66% thumbs up, 33% thumbs down.
Service, acceptable if not great.
Prices, in my humble opinion were as high as Manhattan, but that's just how it is in Northern NJ these days. About $129 for three dinners and three glasses of wine before tip. (Admittedly there was one $18 shrimp cocktail in there too.)
Everyone was real nice and friendly. I enjoyed everything I ordered. The dishes are well composed and the care they take shows through.
That's all great but I have been thinking about the Baklava Cheesecake for three days now.
If you love dessert you will love this modern twist on a Greek classic. Loved it.
We enjoyed our meal very much and the service was great. We preferred to eat in the bar area which is a bit more lively. One suggestion is to have a separate bar menu so you can pop in and eat more casually. Overall a great local find!
Lamb Shank. A must. Great variety of Greek dishes and pleasant, Hands on owners.
Upon arrival, the warm greeting by the host was incredibly nice. Service for the most part also showed a focus towards the customer. Unfortunately, the fish dish I ordered was extremely cold in the middle, they heated it quickly but a cold dish takes away from the positives.
We made an early reservation for dinner only. This was our second year in a row. There is a limited menu on New Year's Eve but always enough choices. I ordered Wild Boar which was like a thick, juicy pork chop. My husband had Prime Rib and we shared Scallops as an appetizer.
They have excellent salads and a nice wine list. Service is very good.
There are plenty of choices so you don't have to be concerned if you don't care for Mediterranean food,
Hostess was very accommodating, she changed our table to a location in the upstairs dining room.
We love Cypress, the food is great and the atmosphere is beautiful. Owners really care about the food, service and satisfaction of their customers.
Fresh food cooked to order! I don't like salt on my food and they always accommodate my dietary needs.
We stumbled on to this place randomly. The food was good and the staff really nice. We'd come back if in the mood for Greek food.
The food was excellent as was the selection of bottled and on-tap beers, and wines. Some very unique dishes, both appetizers and entrees. desserts were also very good. The service was very good and the atmosphere was excellent. We ate inside and then had dessert and coffee outside on the patio. Although this was our first visit it will not be our last.
We don't have a lot of choices for a special occasion meal so it's great to have Cypress. There are lots of choices on the menu including small plates. I ordered 2 for my dint ner. It's not all Mediterranean food, either. The outside patio was very nice.
This nice new venue has been around forever. Now it has nice new Greek/American twist.
Upgraded menu from its opening has made it more appealing. The portions are large, wait staff, Ashley took care of use that night, is excellent and the whole experience is casual and pleasant.
seated outside top deck plenty of umbrellas for shade, waited explained all dishes
ordered food arrived exactly as described
Outdoor patio is nice. Frozen pre-formed fake gyros meat "slices" - YUCK! We won't be back.
total makeover inside from the previous restaurant and the food was great
The food is fantastic and has a great and varied selection.
The place is just opened but they seem to have all the components of a winning formula. Good staff, good attitude, nice decor and excellent food. Came for dinner service and had a great meal. Restaurant is nicely renovated from its prior incarnation. The upstairs dining is good for an elegant dinner, while downstairs at the bar area the scene is more casual. Fish entrees were excellent, filleted and grilled perfectly, with a light touch on seasonings and oil. The zucchini and eggplant strips for appetizers were crisply fried and delicious. We did have a slight issue with one of our orders being undercooked, but the owner took excellent care of it and the service was overall very good. This is a great alternative to generic italian restaurants in northern NJ and I would come back just for the fish. Highly recommended.
