Cuvèe Ray Wine Bar & Restaurant
We tried Cuvée Ray for my husband’s birthday. We were attracted to it for its extensive wine by the glass list. The wine menu did not disappoint! The dinner menu was creative and everything we chose to order was exceptional. The owner himself poured our wines and chatted about them with us. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates well-executed dishes and loves wine as much as we do! Well done, Cuvée Ray! I hope you stay in Rehoboth for many years to come!
They have a huge wine list sold by the bottle and each bottle is also sold by the glass. How can that be we asked? Simple. The wine bottles are marked up 5X or higher over the full retail price. Shameful to price gouge customers like that. Some people may not realize it but many will see wine bottles that they buy frequently and realize the ridiculous price hikes on the wine bottles and wine by the glass. A wine bottle that they charge $1600 or $475 by the glass PLEASE give me a break. We picked out several bottles of wine we buy on a regular basis at retail, one for instance we pay $50 at full retail they have the bottle priced for $250 and $75 by the glass. We have travelled the world and ate at 5 star restaurants and restaurants at $500 or more a couple and no one's wines were marked up this way in the USA or Overseas. The norm in the USA is up to 2X the retail price in restaurants. The food as we rated it above was poor and overpriced. The menu has a miss spelled word for a very popular Italian dish. Don't serve Italian dishes if you do not know how to spell, pronounce or cook the dish. One of our guests ate it and it tasted horrible, was cold, overcooked and sitting in an inch of water from not draining the water out before serving it. Oh and it was prepared wrong with missing ingredients. Oh maybe because the ingredients got washed into the sitting water at the bottom of the bowl. THIS PLACE WILL NOT LAST - Do Not Waste Your Money.

Great for wine and innovative food. Excellent all around. Ray is very wine knowledgeable and is a treat to talk with. Chef Joe Churchman is creating some really fine dishes. We loved the jazz on Sunday night. If you are anywhere near Rehoboth Beach, don't miss Cuvee Ray. This is our new favorite restaurant and we plan to make it a regular stop. Really nice!
This is my second dinner at Cuvee Ray. This is such a unique restaurant with great food and wine!
Far from the norm restaurant. The food was fabulous and just the right portions. The owner Ray was there and gave us a tour of the restaurant and a little background about his journey from the law business to the restaurant business. There was also live music which was enjoyable. Absolutely worth the drive and we hope to make it back again.
Food was very good, outstanding brine selection.
The food was very good but if you don’t eat vegetables it is slim picking. I had the scallops which were excellent but came only with a pickled vegetable side. There was not a starch available. No potato, rice or anything else. Wine selection was well above average.
I had high hopes for this place but I will not be back.

Great service! Very nice atmosphere with an awesome singer. Food was good but not alot of options to choose from. Entrees were pricey. Good place for happy hour but not for dinner.

First time since they opened this past summer. Food was great as was the service. I would say it was on par with the best restaurants in Rehoboth. It’s not inexpensive but it was very good.
With family visiting for the week, we wanted to try a new experience. There were 7 in our party, made reservations but not necessary as the restaurant was empty. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting and they have an impressive wine list. The food needs help! Two in our party had to send food back as it was not warm (warm) and it came back 20 minutes later not any warmer. One of our group was not able to eat and ate dinner after at another restaurant. The check was split 2 ways and for a dinner that cost over $260 for 4 people, 2 of which didn't eat, is absolutely absurd. We will not be back and I would not recommend this restaurant for more than a glass of wine at the bar. Be sure to take your phone so you can research the wines as the staff is not as knowledgeable as one would expect with this variety of a wine list.
Great find -- recommended by a friend. Extensive list of house cocktails and fine wines by the glass. Nice atmosphere. Great menu, both small plates and entrees. Service attentive, without being over-bearing. Our server, Garrett, was a real gem. We were there on Sunday evening and greatly enjoyed the music of Rhonda Apple, Dale Britt and Mike the drummer playing great jazz and American Standards. Will definitely return the next time we are in the Rehoboth area.

The bar was fun and the mixologist serving cocktails was very friendly. The food was excellent and served hot. The menu had interesting options for the more adventurous. The service was attentive without being over-bearing. My only concern was that the tables were very close together so it was hard to have a private conversation (and we went early in the evening so there was the opportunity to spread people out).

I’m sure the kinks in service we and many people seated around us experienced will be worked out in time as the restaurant is new. The food however was exceptionally fantastic. Very limited menu, but every dish my table ordered was beautifully presented and delicious.
Disappointed and not worth it. Typical "upscale" restaurant that is run by someone that isn't qualified to open one. My wife and I call these "used car salesmen" restaurants. Just because a restaurant has good wine and rabbit on the menu, it doesn't make the place upscale and qualify it to charge $30-40 an entree (upscale prices). Its about the ambiance, food, wine, and service. Ambiance is ok (not overwhelming) and the wine is great...those are the positives. The food has potential, but is very schizophrenic. Presentation is good and the Beckel and all of the "sides" were delicious. However, the Octopus and Rabbit seemed to have been prepared by someone else....very bland and under seasoned (especially the rabbit). However, what made our experience 2 stars was the service. Upscale "used car salesman" restaurants forget about service. I know this is the beach and I don't expect New York 5 star service, but for what they charge, every person should be treated the same and each server should be trained and professional. My wife's actual quote while we were dining: "It seems like they ransacked Chili's for their servers and hired my wine-loving Uncle Fred as their Som." Ouch! We had a server who literally did not know anything about the restaurant, the food, or the wine. When we asked about the 1st Course and wines, she literally took the menu from my wife and read it out loud. We were amazed and actually felt bad for her. This falls directly onto ownership and management. How can they put someone as server in an "upscale" restaurant without knowing, tasting, or memorizing the menu (and it's not a big menu). Now to be fair, similar to Chili's, there were a few professional servers on the floor. So, I'm guessing all of the other good reviews got them.
The wine selection was excellent. Waiter was very knowledgeable. Food was outstanding and dessert was out of this world. I had a Chianti that was wonderful. For my entree I had the pasta dish with pork ragu that was delicious. The dessert was goat cheese cheesecake that still is making my mouth water just thinking about it. CuVee Ray is definitely on the top of my list. Look forward to coming again.
A fantastic wine list and cellar with mostly all the wines proposed by the glass. The menu is elaborated as well as the proposed pairing. Very friendly service and if you are lucky to meet Ray, the owner, he will share with you his passion for wine.

This is by far the best food in Rehoboth Beach. All wines can be ordered by the glass from an extensive selection at all price points.

Limited over priced menu. We left after reviewing the menu and went somewhere else to eat good good reasonably priced.
Fabulous food and wine. I had a lovely flight of white wines with a creative dish (deckle) that I remembered fondly from Bramble & Brine, and delicious scallops that were big, perfectly seared and came with well prepared vegetables. The ribeye was outstanding. The desserts were also exceptional, with a chocolate tart that was dense, delicious and not boring. The back dining room is lovely, and I am interested in dinner in the wine room someday. I would only note that the live music is still a little too loud.
Four of us really enjoyed our dining experience at Cuvee Ray last Thursday. It was a gourmet meal, both great looking and very tasty. We were introduced to the restaurant while on the Rehoboth Foodie tour and loved Ray's passion for wine and gourmet dining. Have never heard of any restaurant anywhere offering all 170 of their wines by the glass. Best of luck to them!
Great new addition to Rehoboth Beach restaurant scene with a large selection of wines from around the world and a top chef in the kitchen. Highly recommend.
The food needs some work. Chef trying too be too creative and missing the mark. The wine experience is phenomenal so I hope the food improves.
Everything was lovely but the entrees are all at that slightly painful pricepoint, $32-36. Thought maybe I would fill up on The cheeseboard and have an app or salad for dinner (i do that a lot) but the cheeseboard ($16) only had 3 cheeses. The food was very very good, but there are restaurants in Rehoboth that exceed the food quality for those prices. The bar was great, wonderful bartenders and good live acoustics. Go to have some great wines and a bit to eat while Listening to music. They’ve only been open for 6 weeks, so maybe the menu will expand a bit with more small plates or some entrees in different price categories.
The food was good, but the presentation was poor. The ambiance was also bad. It is almost as if the owner does not know what the restaurant is supposed to be. The color scheme is bad, and for god's sake, do something about the acoustics.
The food was excellent (cheese board, scallops, and duck), expensive but not abnormal for that type of restaurant and most of the service was good, however my friend and I were seated next to a couple who was getting special treatment and I found it rude. Our tables were practically touching, and it looked like there were open tables in the back so I'm not sure why we'd be seated right there. I heard staff at the restaurant saying that the owner is very friendly and goes to every table, however he didn't come to my table yet went to the table next to us several times. Maybe because they were getting a $70 bottle of wine and we were only getting a few $12 glasses.
I also found it odd that we had to ask if there was a meat and cheese board. There was a separate menu for it but was only given to us upon asking our server. We ordered the cheese board and I wanted to swap out a cheese for a meat because they didn't have an option to get both but the chef doesn't allow changes. I completely understand that and would have accepted that however the "special table" next to us had a custom board. Just disrespectful in my opinion.
I live in the area and would have happily recommended the restaurant for the food, but probably won't now.
Outstanding wine list! Sommelier was very helpful and willing to put a custom wine flight together that fit my taste. 170 wines BY THE GLASS. How can you go wrong!?

We read the reviews online and were expecting much better. The menu was very short, 4-5 appetizers and 5-6 entrees, and no specials. The beet salad appetizer was very good, best part of the meal. The scallop entree was 4 scallops with fennel and carrots, nothing else. For $33, that was excessive. While the scallops were well cooked, one was very gritty. The halibut entree was undercooked and just OK. The service was rushed, even though the restaurant was less than half full (only us and three other tables occupied in back section of restaurant). The server came back to the table about every 2 minutes, even though we clearly we not in need of any assistance or/ready to order. He said each time, "can I get anything else for the table," which seemed like an odd question. We had high hopes for a new restaurant in Reho, but were disappointed and will probably not go back.
This is a really fun restaurant. The sommelier is very interactive and makes interesting recommendations based on the tastes of the customer. The halibut was amazing---would definitely order it again. The foie was good and we had an unusual wine pairing that was spot on. Did not love the lobster first course, and unexpectedly, it disappeared from our bill. Our waiter was a bit inexperienced with the menu and deferred choices to the sommelier, but he was offered great service otherwise. We had drinks at the bar prior to dinner, and the bartender was very friendly, and served up his own "Old World" version of an old-fashioned, which ranks as one of the best cocktails I've every had.
