Currents at the Riverhouse
Corned Beef Hash
onions, roasted pepper, potato, spinach poached eggs, horseradish crme fraiche
I have to say my review is being colored by fact first time I came in the hostess refused to seat me with my service dog. She told me I needed “papers”??? I stayed at the associated hotel for a week and only ate here once because of that.
Sit out on the deck with a Deschutes River view, it’s really very pretty. The deck was closed when I was there because of the late summer fire smoke. There is a lounge attached to the restaurant that also has deck seating. That was also closed.
I did end up having dinner here one evening having to leave my medical alert dog in the room. Despite the fact I made a reservation and the restaurant was pretty empty, I was sat back in a dark part of the dining room despite fact there were tables with much better views. I’m just not sure the hostess staff possess any customer service skills!!!
The food was just ok. I had a pasta special that was grossly over-salted. And a small wedge salad for $11 that was good, but the blue cheese dressing tasted like it came out of a bottle that had been sitting around for a while. For dessert I tried the “bread pudding” which honest to goodness I think was one of those little spiral cinnamon roles with some sauce on it. The highlight of the evening was the Kentucky Mule. Nicely done bartender! Bulliet Bourbon, Cock and Bull Ginger Beer and fresh lime juice. Fantastic. Service was ok, kinda like the food. As expected, nothing special.
I thought the value for what I got all around was a bit low. If I lived in Bend, this is not a place I’d frequent.
Fundraiser for the Red Cross of Central Oregon. We love the remodel but the acoustics were deafening with the live music. Too loud where we were straining to hear each other. Usually Currents food is excellent but this night it was just mediocre however the cocktails and waitress were excellent. I’m sure it will be better after this COVID time. Fabulous location.
They have a great bar menu and are really priced fairly and reasonable
The setting was beautiful! The food was very good but my steak was over cooked. The service was very poor. Took a long time to get waited on. Never brought bread had to ask for silverware after food had arrived. Asked for second glass of wine as was finely brought to table after meal was finished. In the server’s defense I think it was poor management
It was ok. I wish there had been more crab on my English muffin though
Best & most tender filet mignon ever, great flavor, cooked perfectly and was able to cut it with just my fork.
I would go for happy hour drinks and small plates. Dinner menu is okay.
I won’t go back again
A favorite when we are in the Bend area: we were early but were seated as soon as there was a table Riverside. The service was great and our waitress was training a new waiter who was also very sweet. All four of us loved the food: my personal favourite is the lox croissant but hubby loves the Huevos and Man size Mimosas and wow that is a spicy and intricately garnished Bloody Mary!
The food was good, the service excellent, and the ambience outstanding. We requested a table looking down on the river(?), and it was really fantastic. The price was cute reasonable given the setting, service and quality of food. WE had breakfast there, too, and it was also wonderful. We will definitely come back.
We absolutely recommend it.
Only brunch menu on sunday other than bar type food (hamburgers, sandwiches). If not into brunch, go on a weekday.
Incredible scenery and a beautiful interior. Food was very good, but nothing spectacular... ok for the price. Service took a very long time despite it not being busy.
Overall, it's worth it just for the outdoor seating alone.
Me and my man go here all the time. Absolutely love it
My husband & I ate here for our anniversary on Monday. The waiter took a long time to get to us. My husband had to go get him for our order. The waiter wasn't personable or friendly. The food for $74 wasn't up to par.. My husband's steak was very good tasting. Just a steak & some potatoes & no real appealing appearance .. My halibut (which I normally love other places) was bland.. it has seasoning but nothing crusted or anything with added flavor.. I did ask for some melted butter to give it some more flavor & moistness but the butter was cold & so it was hard to melt on the halibut at that point. We had to fetch the waiter for the check as well.. We won't go back..
I was our anniversary. They did everything to make it enjoyable, including giving us a wonderful dessert on them. Would recommend as a great place.
Lovely patio dining and in a Covid era, safe protocols in place.
Nice evening on the deck at the Riverhouse. Good service and food!
Our server was adorable and very helpful! We were with some older friends and she was so kind!
Once again, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the beautiful setting by the river.
The most beautiful views, a hidden gem in a hotel. Service and food were excellent. Staff was friendly and efficient.
Food was pretty good for brunch and a limited menu. Mimosas were horrible though! I would stick to a Bloody Mary next time b
We sat on the patio which was really nice for this time of year . Listening to the river and the fresh air was a bonus. Great cocktail menu . The Martini and Aperol spritz were delicious . Calamari appetizer was okay 👌. The Cobb salad with salmon was very good .land my husband had the New York steak . He enjoyed his as well. Will definitely come again !
Great food, great service, best to eat outdoors on the deck. Great along the River with the view.
Sitting outside by the sound of water is refreshing. My fav’s because we go there often are...Margherita flatbread, Caesar Salad with Salmon, Pancetta-Wrapped Medjool Dates, truffle fries, Cubano sandwich all made with Fresh local ingredients.
Made reservations 2 weeks prior and had to wait 45 minutes. Ran out of prime rib when we arrived. Why have reservations????? Hostesses don't acknowledge you.
Enjoyed eating on the patio with the Deschutes River view. Tables were nicely spread out. Food was good but not outstanding.
5 Star for for being open during this COVID BS. Friendly people and great outdoor dining area!
Beautiful seating on the patio by the river. It was chilly but it was 9am so that’s to be expected. Our food took a while to come which is fine it was pretty busy but when it did arrive is was ice cold. The eggs in my scramble were cold and discolored from drying out. So we’re my sons scrambled eggs. All our foods was cold.
I have been here previously and did not have an issue so hoping it was a fluke but not rushing to try it again any time soon!
I thought it was going to be this super nice place with mind blowing food. It was an overall okay experience. It was good food, but not something I would really want to go back to.
Terrible. Food only mediocre. Terrible for the price. Cold coffee. Very slow. Even for Covid service.
Worst of all the night before we were told to sit "over there" and wait and they would find us a table. 45 minutes later we checked with hostess and apparently we'd been totally forgotten. They looked at us in an accusatory fashion when we said we'd been told "no need to leave a name'. Apparently there was a name list but we were NOT on it.
We only returned the next night because we were staying at the hotel (also terrible by the way) and had little choice given COVID. Do NOT go to Currents. DO NOT stay at Riverhouse on the Deschutes. Both awful in all regards. Read Yelp reviews.
Had read previous reviews that service was slow, so when the waiter first came over, we were ready and immediately ordered our drinks and entrees. It all went well.
The server wasn’t friendly nor attentive, the wait was very long to get even our appetizer and then a long wait again for the entrees. The server hardly checked on us for refills wasn’t friendly. The food was pretty good but nothing I’d like to come back to have. Overall it was just okay.
We had to wait an additional 30mins past the time we had booked due to Covid restrictions: they were very honest that the kitchen was behind and they couldn’t seat us. We were able to have drinks in the bar and they got us an amazing table by the river when we did sit down. Great service and brunch. I would come back and would even stay at the hotel...didn’t know it was there!
This is a perfect spot if you wanted to do like cocktails or coffee by the river, but at the end of the day, it's a hotel restaurant. We went for breakfast and wound up waiting a long time, presumably because they were also cranking out breakfasts for all the hotel guests. And when we did get our meals everything was just eh, alright. Lacking flavor, over medium eggs completely fell apart runny, no kids menu (if that's important to you), and not so great coffee. It's a shame because it's walking distance from our house and we wanted to love it, but alas, I think we'd maybe go back for drinks only, but aren't super sure about that either.
It's always hard to love a restaurant when you go there for the first time and the menu is different than it is online and the server is uninformed of items that they're out of until after you have placed your order - forcing them to return to the table and change your order on the spot. This happened to us at least 2-3 times at our birthday celebration last week. Experience is key, and part of that experience is having a knowledgeable server who can communicate clearly. I don't blame the server, but I do feel that they were ill-equipped to handle this dinner service. Experience is predominately why people go out to nice restaurants, and this experience was almost there but slightly disappointing. I will say that the ambiance is absolutely to die for and I would definitely recommend that for a special occasion.
Everything is lovely except the floor of the deck is absolutely filthy! I am wondering why it isn't swept and spray washed every day?
It makes one wonder what kind of cleanliness routine the restaurant has?????
There was many days, if not weeks, of dirt and leaves and debree on the floor of the deck especially under the tables.
I might caution my friends about this matter before they decide to go.
I sure hope more attention is paid to cleanliness
Our service was not great at all. We waited a long time to order drinks and food and were not checked on hardly after that. It was a pretty atmosphere but not much more than that.
Patio was lovely, peaceful and perfect during this Pandemic. Menu is a bit abbreviated, which is not unexpected right now.
Outside dining was great with the sounds of river flowing. Caesar salad with salmon was less than expected. There is room for improvement.
Had to wait over an hour to get our food that was very good anyways and was cold when it arrived. wanted to complain but didn't have another hour to wait for more cold food. The entire hotel was a let down. Very overpriced for such a rundown resort.
