Currents at the Riverhouse
Love this place! Hidden Gem in Bend Oregon! If you have the chance to stay at the Riverhouse as well, you will not be disappointed. Huge rooms, fireplaces in the rooms and amazing views of the river. 10/10
We didn't make it to the food portion of our visit. My wife and I arrived 5 minutes before our reservation time to enjoy a nice dinner. The hostess said that she would wipe down our table and get us seated. She disappeared for about 10 minutes. While waiting another couple arrived and then a family of four. The hostess finally came back and took the couple's info. They were then seated shortly after. Five minutes later the hostess returned and seated the family of four. After waiting another five minutes I let a staff member know the hostess had disappeared and we would like to be seated. She arrived shortly after and proceeded to take us to a table. Passing multiple normal sized booths in a quieter section, she placed us in the party section next to several large groups. The table was wedged up against the wall next to a large group. I wouldn't go as far as calling it an actual table. It was more of a cocktail table you would rest your drinks on while standing in a crowded bar. With the way we were being treated, I was not about to spend $100+ on a meal I was sure to be disappointed in. We decided to leave and go elsewhere.
Waitress spilled seafood stew all over my fiancé and barely apologized. Good thing we didn’t have plans after because we had to go straight home and wash all his clothes. Also, the two person tables are way too close together. I was sitting twice as close to the person next to me as I was to my fiancé. We do not recommend.
We went to Currents for Valentine's Day. The waitress was very nice and attentive. We were seated at a two-top table that was very long though. My wife and I felt like we were seated halfway across the room from each other, Rather than having a romantic dinner we could barely hear one another. There was another two-top table only a foot away from ours so I was actually sitting closer to the dude on my left, who was also on a Valentines date. It was easier to carry on a conversation with him while my wife chatted with his wife. Our food was good, so it would be a good place to go with energetic friends, but it's not the place to go for a romantic evening.
We arrived on time and were seated promptly. Pretty much after that everything was poor but the food. Make no mistake the food was excellent, but that was the only thing that was above a level of below average to fail.
I was somewhat disappointed with having made a reservation 2 weeks ahead of time, and seeing all of the amazing couch seating to be sat at a reserved 2 top in the bar next to the window. Regardless it was Valentines Day so you make your own happiness so we were ready to enjoy the meal.
The waitress who initially began serving us couldn’t remember any of the menu specials and forgot what the wine pairing was for the Valentines Day special. She then walked away, after my wife kindly reminded her of the wine pairing off the menu.
We ordered the meatballs and they came out cold. Our server was not pleasant with us (maybe because we are young?), The steak was underwhelming. Not the worst food I have had but for the price I don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon.
Meal was delicious and fairly priced. Wine prices are high for the poured amount. Sat in a booth which is comfortable, but places the diner a fair ways away from the table if you sit back and you're quite a ways from your dining partner on the other side of the table. We went on a night where there was music in the bar and the performer was between us and the bar patrons. The sound was pretty loud from our seat so if you want a quiet dinner, go on a non-music night or finish dinner before the performance starts.
The food (ribs) was horrible and was not edible. They were so burnt with absolutely no meat on them.
Fisherman's stew was ok.. lack of spices. The base was water.
Inexperienced server that really gave it her all and is learning. Smallest amount of calamari you could serve though with ample cabbage. Uneventful beet arugula salad. An entire head of iceberg for a salad. Ok wine list. Meh.
We like the Riverhouse and we were there on a busy Friday. We were seated as far to the left as you can get but the noise from the bar area and the first dining area was pretty high. I had the Fish stew and really like it. My hubby had the ribs and he was not impressed. the menu is nice as it is varied in price -- our meals were in the low $20-ish but the Filet was over $30. But they had meals far less, too. A nice mix.
Currents is a nice but not too fancy restaurant. The menu is limited but everything we’ve had has been delicious. We were a party of 8 and the service was great. We will be back!
Food and Service were outstanding!! So good! I love this place, the happy hour is one of the best in Bend as well.
Seating was not in the restaurant but in a meeting room with NO ambience. Just 6 tables spread throughout the room. Noise level was not energetic but was annoyingly loud. Service was extremely slow and the three meals were lukewarm and just generally poor. Atone point, i witnessed a worker clearing a table after the party had finished . She threw the dirty tablecloth against the wall of the room where it stayed throughout our meals. We will never return to this restaurant. So very disappointing.
We had a great meal on Christmas Day. We struggle with places to eat in the Central Oregon area. Currents is worth it.
Great overall experience!
The ambiance was excellent and the service and food was superb. Some soft background music would have made the experience even better.
Server was very professional. Dinner was delicious. Desert was mediocre.
The food was delicious and service was great even though they were packed.
Birthday brunch on a Sunday with a group of five. It was very nice and everyone liked their meal. Waitress seemed overworked and as it got crowded, there should have been more servers or at least water/ coffee / bus persons. Typical Bend, never enough help in restaurants but she was pleasant.
If you’re looking for a hotel lobby atmosphere with ok food this is for you
We had a marvelous experience! The food was great, the presentation beautiful, and service was excellent. We went back for breakfast the following morning and probably will return for dinner this evening ... it is THAT good!
Our server Adrian was awesome and so were his recommendations. We ate in the lounge area and probably because it was early evening on Sunday, it was nice and quiet .
Slow service spoiled an otherwise nice menu, beautiful ambience, and good food. There were only five or six other tables occupied for lunch on a Saturday, yet it took almost 15 minutes for our four orders to come out of the kitchen.
We really enjoyed listening to Bill Keale! I was there with relatives from California, and we enjoyed the event!
The food was good and the service reasonable. Unfortunately the ran out of three doshes including the Friday nite dinner, the chicken and the beef shank therefore our other choices. But as I said, the food we ordered was tasty.
Service was average and not efficient. Good was also average (roast chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes and ratatouille...). The best part was the excellent sourdough bread and flavored butter. The Argentine Malbec was very good. The food might have been much better if the chicken, beans and potatoes were hot and NOT piled one on top of another.
Great resort. Great Food. Great atmosphere
The food and the view were great, but the service was terrible. We waited over an hour for food, never got drink refills, and never got bread.
Great food and views.
Service is a little slow to get seated.
Good staff though
Loved the terrace overlooking the river & the food was very nice, service very good and will definitely be back!
We’ve been here three times. BBQ very dry, slow service, when there’s a problem, manager doesn’t respond. Simply wont ever go back. Terrible.
Rover sounds were great for the ambiance. Food was great loved it.
Waited 45 mins for our food to arrive. When we enquired with the waiter he told us 'in Bend you wait 45 mins for a table, and then 45 mins for an order'. This was rude and dismissive and we should have been told from the start that there would be such a wait in our food in order to manage expectations. I think there was an issue with the kitchen as I overheard another waitress telling someone this. This is fine, but communicate it to your customers. Food was just warm when it arrived but I didnt want to wait any longer . I asked for ketchup and it never arrived. All in I was really disappointed as I had a fantastic meal the evening before at this restaurant. But for brunch I was let down and fully charged. It's a great place with amazing views, but maybe needs to work on communication
Ambience was nice, food was okay at best but service is awful! I wouldn’t go back.
Great find for lunch. Unassumingly located in a hotel lobby, the outside view of the river running by is a beautiful setting. The meals were tasty and well priced.
This was my first visit and we really enjoyed our experience. We live up on the butte and have been wanting to visit for a while. The staff is very polite and helpful. Our food was very good especially the steak that was cooked to perfection. The side vegetables were fresh and not over cooked. The table side bread was fresh and the chicken cooked very well. The location cannot be beat with the river below and the blue skies above. The outside seating was plentiful with several sitting areas for cocktails. We are looking forward to our next meal at Currents.
Right off of a busy street but you wouldn't know it. Upscale casual with a great view of a smaller part of the river. Nice bar area to lounge and enjoy a drink or watch some games. Food is well properly done with good options.
Great food, service and location.
