Currents at the Riverhouse
The outdoor seating with the sound of the river running beside you is a pretty special atmosphere to begin with and the food is top notch as well. The corned beef hash with a side of sourdough toast was a great brunch item and their side of fresh fruit went way beyond the standard melon you would get at a lesser location, with fresh berries and other fresh fruit added to the mix.
I will also say they did a nice job of adjusting to some food allergies in our party, which included gluten, dairy, and garlic, with no sign of being inconvenienced and instead a measure of appropriate care and compassion. We have had great experiences for breakfast, brunch, and dinner.
The reservation was made a few days ahead of time. When I made the reservation I specifically told them it was for a 40th Birthday and for it to be known. Not a mention of it was made or a dessert offered. We ordered Standing Rib Roast. No Au Jus nor Horseradish were offered. Severely disappointed for a special night.

We have enjoyed Currents in the past, but this last visit was a debacle. We had out of town guests visiting & wanted to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Made reservations several days ahead & requested outdoor table. When we arrived on time, the Host apologized and said “someone” just gave away our table. We said we would sit inside but was waaay too noisy due to a 4 piece band (with drums!)playing in restaurant!??? We waited for an outdoor table & when almost ready to go elsewhere they seated us finally. The waiter was pleasant and the food was ok.
Not sure why they asked me if we were celebrating a special occasion when making reservation???
If you want to have happy hour on the patio, make sure in advance that they will serve happy hour at your particular table. And if you request to change tables, expect to be told that the other tables on the patio are all "reserved"...although, oddly enough, those other tables were still vacant when we left 90 minutes later.
On the positive side, our waitress was great and the river ambience was very enjoyable.
Our food arrived 45 minutes after being ordered! Then the pancakes were only slightly warm and very doughy. The Hollandaise Sauce on the Eggs Benedict was very acidic, almost bitter, served on Canadian Bacon which was over cooked and tough to cut or chew. The only redeeming virtue was the lovely setting on the river plus the beautiful day. We will not be branching here another time.
Poor and slow service. Food lukewarm and orders were incorrect.
We live within walking distance of Currents and have breakfast there a few times each week. I have always ordered the Eggs Benedict because I found it to be the best in Bend. However, the last 4 times we’ve eaten there the food quality has deteriorated significantly. The Eggs Benedict is nothing like it was on previous visits. The hollandaise sauce used to be thick and creamy now it’s watery to the point that the English muffin soaks up all of the sauce and it disappears. The potatoes used to be crispy and tasty and now they are soft and mushy. They also serve half the amount of potatoes they used to serve. The ambiance is lovely and the service is good so we always felt it was a good value. Given the deteriorating quality of the food we no longer feel it’s a good value. Now we frequent McKays Cottage instead. Not quite as tasty as Currents used to be but much better than what it has become.
Lovely location for bridal brunch. Liked option of brunch or lunch menu.
It was really good! Great food and great service
Really enjoyed lunch on the patio with the river rushing past. Wonderful!
The food was bland. Almost no flavor at all in savory dishes.
Our server, Anthony was knowledgeable about the food as well as local area
Our meal was prepared to order... awesome filets.
This was our first time at this restaurant. It was an exellent experience. The ambience on the patio next to the river was very calming.
Our food (mac & cheese & flatbread) were both very tasty. The service was friendly and good.
We recommend this spot to anyone.
I had made reaervations in advance of Fathers Day for an outside table with our daughter and 2 grandsons. The hostess, tried to seat us inside twice, told us she was very confused with everything going on....we had to remind our waiter , Adrian, about our grandsons drinks and our daughters drink...both finally came after the meals were served!....
Our server was terrible! We had to ask 3 and 4 times for the same thing - I finally got up and got my own water pitcher for myself after sitting for 30 minutes with NO WATER. We were there for a simple dinner and it took nearly 3 hours. Terribly slow service and our waiter, Adrian, was gabbing away with other tables then walked right by us without even looking or checking in if we needed anything. Asked for cracked pepper, got the salt and pepper table shakers, asked for cocktails, they arrived after our appetizers. I am not impressed and had high hopes for this place with the remodel and the new exec. chef. It is unfortunate that one person can ruin an entire experience for 4 people. Be warned if you go, you will be paying $$$ and get terrible service.
Just average. I used to work in the food service industry in top notch restaurants. We also dine out frequently. We had a 3-4 minute wait at hostess stand... literally no one there (6:30 on a Saturday! ) 2 of 3 meals were nicely cooked. Mine, a medium rare filet, was severely under cooked and cold. Do they NOT have thermometers in the kitchen? Sent it back to get some more heat on it. It came back cooked as asked and not cold... but also on a naked plate. Not a nice touch. We'll look elsewhere next time.
Best view of the river in town, we always bring out of town guests here. Since it was bought out a couple of years ago, at first the food wasn't awesome but it's gotten better. I had the turkey wing because I'm on Keto and it was great. They need to bring back the REAL chocolate sack that was there when the previous owners had it.
Serious problems with dining room management. Botched the reservation, even though it was made thru Open Table and had a confirmed reservation. At least 3 different zone of tables, some of which received happy hour specials and others that did not. Had to move twice from one table to another.
We had trouble receiving the items that we ordered. Only one of the four guests at our table received the meal that was ordered.
Felt neglected by server. Food ingredients great. My dish was very bland.
Excellent food & service. Should have specified a better table but not having been there was unaware of seating. We had a table by restrooms & kitchen entrance 😞A table of noisy golfers on our other side 😐
Nice and convenient after a long day of driving
I had requested a window table and the staff was very accommodating. We would have eaten on the patio had it been a bit warmer, but my mother-in-law was very pleased to have a window table with a sliding door to allow fresh air in. The wait staff was wonderful, as was the food. The river view does not disappoint.
We had the blue cheese board, and NY strip steaks prepared perfectly!
Nice stay at the Riverhouse. Food was good but was disappointed with the onion soup, nothing special but all other meals were very good, especially the hamburgers. Staff was very positive with great personal attitudes.
One of the better restaurants in Sisters. Great ambience and service. Not the run of the mill menu items you see everywhere else. I’d dine here again. Excellent unique cocktails. The beet salad was really just a green salad with just a few beets thrown in. Otherwise the items we ordered were well represented by the description on the menu.
Service was excellent. Starting with the Host who was very professional and accommodating; to the server who was very pleasant and efficient. The food was excellent and we left nothing on the plate and had to waddle home, full and satisfied. We would highly recommend this to anyone and will come back on our next visit to Bend.
Unfortunately our steak was way overcooked and other food was cold. We were there for a birthday dinner and the food was a huge let down. The waitress and team were great and so was the restaurant itself. Sadly the food is what we went for though. We just expected better.
We always enjoy our time at Currents. The staff treats us well and we keep going back. Extra kuddos to Tim (Timothy P.) he's the BEST!!!
We took a visiting friend here for dinner during a stay in Bend. We'd eaten here before and felt it was more than good enough to return. Unfortunately, the service was terrible. Everything was excruciatingly slow. We'd waited well over 20 minutes for any food, when our waitress walked by and looked surprised that we didn't have anything. She walked away without a word, we waited another 10 minutes, and someone else appeared with our food. Absolutely NO apology from our waitress or anyone else. We won't return -- too many other good options with much better service.
Flatbread appetizer was good. Calamari were small, overbreaded and dry from being overcooked. The tuna was good, although a small portion. Halibut was very bland and a small portion as well. Dishes were overpriced relative to quality of food. Ambiance is very nice, as the restaurant looks out to their terrace with a view of the river.
Everything was great. Left a $20 dollar tip. Only problem was they double charged my credit card. Now we are concerned about internet/credit card fraud!!
I was disappointed about my reservation. I made it well in advance, showed up on time and was seated in the worst booth in the restaurant (in the back near the toilets). This after standing in line watching several parties escorted to the outdoor seating without reservations. Reservations will not help you at this establishment.
The place was beautiful outside and in. However, we made a reservation for 10am. Did not get seated till around 1015am. No one came to our table at all until my husband had to say that we’ve been waiting. We placed our drink and food order at the same time at about 1045am and didn’t get our food , which was cold until 1130am. When we mentioned something to the waiter he just told us that it was busy. Well it wasn’t busy inside or out. Plenty of open seats. I wish our experience was better there because the location and setting was beautiful.
Convenient location, prompt seating, good food, excellent service.
FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT. GREAT PLACE TO TAKE OUT OF TOWN GUESTS
The eggs Benedict was the worst one I’ve had. The English muffin was as thin as paper from being so soggy and the egg was tasted like it was boiled. My sister got a bagel advertised as a Rockin Dave’s bagel and it looked and tasted like it came out of the grocery store, def. not from Rockin Dave’s. Unfortunate because the view is awesome and great patio right on the river.
The prime rib was not cooked properly when brought out- they had to re cook it. The Fishermen's stew was terrible. Service was slow and it was loud. The prime rib was good once it was brought back. Drinks were bland
The food was absolutely terrible. If you have a daily special (which were the mussels) they should be the best they can be, as you only have it on the menu for one day. The mussels were overcooked, the broth was awful & not appropriate for the dish & the fries were cold. I asked the four other people who dined & they all said their respective dishes too were not up to par.
The service was lacking considering it was a Tuesday evening & we were one of only 3-4 tables to serve.
As a business user, I was very disappointed & doubt we would use this place again.
We had traveled all day to get here. We had time to try the bar first and the our bartender was great. The restaurant had been texting to welcome us and we were hungry, so we asked to be seated a litte early. They were very helpful and welcoming. The food was excellent and our server was friendly and efficient. Great place!
