Fun place to hang out and get basic drinks. The food was not great (most things were deep fried) and the signature cocktails sounded better than they tasted. Go for the atmosphere and the live music but not for dinner.
Great place for a gathering / party, we had a blast! Thanks to our waiter and the rest of the staff, we definitely enjoyed the offerings from the bar too ;-)
Good food, good value (especially during their Happy Hour) and super convenient if you are going to a show at the Chapel.
nice people, good music, band was too loud in the main room but there was a choice of places to sit so was able to find a table that wasn't as loud
Exceptional craftsmanship in the kitchen, and somewhat rare excellent service and recommendations by our server.
Great place, really good food, fantastic drinks and what a great show afterwards!
Smoked Beer Can Chicken with sides was excellent
Service very good with half off bottles of wine Wednesday
Great value
Cool place- we sat at the bar area. Service was great, even took us in advance to be seated for a show at the adjoining Chapel venue. Food was good; we had sandwiches ( nice hot French Fries). The brisket was delicious but could have been more generous, plus would have liked more bread selection.
All in all, a good place for a light meal before an event.
Love the service! Nice ambiance and they didn’t rush you
Casual, comfortable. My warm chicken salad was excellent. Interesting, tasty cocktails. Attentive, friendly server who made a very helpful suggestion to get wristbands so we could enter the theater later without standing in line. Located inside the same building as The Chapel Theater. We ate in the covered, heated patio which was comfortable even though it was cold out.
Delicious takes on classic dishes, combined with a great ambiance and outstanding service, made our night out really shine.
Maybe it was just an off night but we waited for quite a while to get even a glass of water let alone our order taken. And then our order was all messed up with food we didn’t order and meals missing. I usually go here before the annual Bowie Birthday Bash but think I’ll switch up to a taco truck next year. Bummer.
We ate here New Year's Eve before a show at The Chapel. The Prix Fixe menu gave us enough options and the food was delicious!
we went to see fantastic negrito on new years eve which was amazing, we didn't expect much food wise, especially on NYE but were pleasantly surprised with the ambiance and quality of food, the prix fixe meal was excellent and the bartender, bronte, was an artist, we would definitely return just for the food!!
fun, different, great service, good food, convenient, affordable. perfect before a concert at The Chapel.
The food was pretty good and the restaurant had good ambiance, but the service was the worst I've had at a restaurant in SF in a long time! Our server just disappeared after we got our food and we didn't see her again until we were about to leave. Had to flag down other wait staff to ask for a second round of drinks which took forever.
Curio was the
Cute place. Cocktails were okay but food wasn’t too impressive.
The fries for the fish and chips were awful. I should have said something so that they would not serve them to anyone else. They were old. Dry, old, and inedible.
Catching up with an old friend. Great food, good company, attentive server.
I really liked the original Vestry at the Chapel. They had a great mix of fresh local ingredients meets a sort of California-Mediterranean contemporary fare; brunch was also quite nice.
My first time at the newer imprint Curio and to be honest, the experience was not astounding considering how lovely Vestry was.
I made a reservation (not necessary for a Wednesday) for my hubs birthday with his parents. They are somewhat finicky but figured with chicken, fish and chips or the prospect of a braised short rib, there would be something good. I mentioned that it was for a birthday and his name, but they never mentioned it. Not sure why they want to know...
In fact, the food was fine, but the service was absent.
5:45pm reservation, I arrived at 6pm but my family arrived just before and had already sat down and placed appetizer order and it was on the table. They said the bus person took their order, not a waiter.
There were two other tables being served, but the waiter, when he finally came out served them, ran back and forth doing this and that, and seemed a little like he may have just woken up.
It took our table stopping him to get his attention and he just said “oh hi...” so I asked if I could order a cocktail... and he was just distracted so...not sure what was going on.
It wasn’t crowded so my arrival, and presence should not have been too difficult to piece together.
The rest of the meal was okay, we had to ask to turn down the music slightly as it was quite loud. I know it’s a music club, but the restaurant is separate from the concert room, but it was not easy to hear conversation.
They also had the front doors open and it was moderately cool and cigarette smoke from outside wafted in.
I’ll give them another chance, but I won’t go out of my way to go there with other options with great service for the price.
This in no way reflects the Chapel venue. I love the concert room and they book great shows, and the staff is great.
Love curio! Great food, really cool patio. Awesome interior design
We had a good time. The staff was amazing and super friendly. We were able to had a conversation while listening to good music.
I've been here twice. This place has a lot going for it. The patio is beautiful. The location is great. The service is decent. The food is terrible. Both times it was so gross I didn't eat it. I left hungry. I don't know how eggs can be bad. I had the Benedict and the omelette and both were inedible. I paid $30 to eat breakfast potatoes and a diet coke. Two tries and I'm done.
Good food. Awful service.
Great food and drinks. We shared an delicious salad and sandwich and each had a great cocktail recommended by our server. Added bonus to be checked into the concert at The Chapel next door at our table and allowed into the venue at the front of the line which enabled us to sit during the concert. AWESOME!
Pleasantly surprised by the food and grateful we made happy hour! Loved the hush puppies and beer can chicken (though the chicken skin was a little tough).
Great outdoor patio with heat lamps.
Get their for happy hour before dinner and enjoy $1 oysters.
Went to Curio prior to a show at The Chapel. Happy Hour was great (although be sure to ask which beers are $2 before you order). Deviled eggs were awesome; fried pickles were very good. Red beans and rice had great flavor but could have been a little creamier. Being able to check in for the show while seated was a nice bonus.
Good food and drinks, unfortunately, the patio area closes much earlier than the bar, so be aware of this if you are seated there and want to take your time enjoying food, you might need to rush it out.
They had this man, he was a one man band. Very cool. Nice spot indoor and out. Would have given it 5 stars but the server didn’t tell me how much my drinks where until I asked, sticker shock for me. The small bites were delicious.
Went to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and had a wonderful time. Our server was amazing and really enhanced our experience!
Not worth the time for the quality of the food. They cannot handle a moderate rush.
Took 30 mins for our server to get to our table, took another 30 mins to get our simple drink order. We waited about an hour for our food after that. I ordered eggs Benedict and it arrived with hard yolks.
The ambience was festive and the outdoor patio was really nicely decorated. The service and food was unfortunately subpar - perhaps it was due to Pride but it took over 30 min for any wait staff to bring us even water and even longer waits for food and drinks...
We were very disappointed with our experience at Curio. We went for a Pride brunch that was advertised as having drag queens & DJs. It was not advertised that the drag queens & DJs would only be on the small outdoor patio. We were seated inside where we could not hear or see any of the entertainment. Our server was not very friendly at all. She literally never came back to our table to check on us after taking our food order. Never to refill drinks, ensure that we had everything we needed, etc. Our food was brought out by kitchen staff. We had to flag down other servers constantly, which was bizarre because our assigned server was still in the restaurant and checked on other tables around us repeatedly. We thought maybe she got reassigned, but she was still the assigned server responsible for our check, so we have no idea why she abandoned us. They got 3 of our 10 food orders incorrect, & a fourth order was missing entirely. Extremely disappointing customer service. While the food was decent, it is not worth the high prices. We were also disappointed in the event being mis-advertised, as were many other customers in the restaurant. I would not recommend Curio.
My review is more for open Table than for curio. I made this reservation for 6pm on Sunday to take my son and two friends to dinner before a concert for his birthday and when we arrived the bartender told us the restaurant isn't even open for dinner on Sunday. They have been open for brunch only for as long as he's been there. I don't know how Open Table didn't know this, took my reservation and even confirmed and reminded me. This was extraordinarily disappointing.
The dishes were a bit dry and the brunch rush had died down by 2pm so it wasn't as lively/fun. Would still continue going back, perhaps it was just an off day for the restaurant. Great service as always.
Great outdoor space. Creative cocktails and nibbles to start. Brunch was a hit! 8 of us and each one had something different, lots of bites being exchanged...That's always a good sign!
Restaurant was closed even though I was allowed to make a reservation.
