Our waitress didn’t seem interested in waiting on us. She had a full fifteen minute conversation with a table outside before she retrieved our drinks. The menu online isn’t reflective of what this restaurant actually has. I picked it originally because the menu said it had oysters and then when I arrived I was disappointed that oysters were no longer on the menu. The atmosphere is very nice, my octopus taco was okay, but I wouldn’t come back.
The $15 Restaurant Week lunch menu is an amazing value!
It took the waiter a long time to take our order after the hostess sat us. After the order was taken it took a long time for the food to be served. In the meantime, there was no offer of chips, more water refills or beverages ... overall lacking in the customer service area. It was extremely loud. The lunch options were few, the menu online said Tortas, there were no tortas. Not sure I'll go back.
Our cocktail snacks was divine. I took a friend who was leaving San Diego for her last margarita for a while and Curadero did not let me down. I highly recommend their unique and delicious margaritas (and the food it good too - get the guac.)
2nd visit nothing like the first visit
Not going back
Love the drinks, the atmosphere and the service, but the food was bland.
So much fun. Server Dani was great. A hidden gem on Fifth street.
We had tickets to a concert at San Diego Civic Theatre, wanted dinner nearby (so we wouldn’t have to move the car) and Curadero was within easy walking distance. The menu (Mexican) looked better than just tacos and burritos so we made a reservation. We were seated right away and were really happy with the food (although the guacamole needed salt) but both the drinks and the food were slow to come out. We had plenty of time before our show began and we will come back again but only if we have plenty of time!
Fish tacos were fishy and the “TJ” Caesar salad looked like it came from some airport grab and go kiosk. But.... the real problem was the one ridiculously drunk party that they just kept liquoring up. Amazing that a near empty restaurant can be that noisy.
Parking was difficult as restaurant is located in a hotel downtown. Had to valet park for $12. It was so loud inside we had to shout to hear ourselves. Food was excellent and large enough portion to share a dish. Drink menu is fun. Service was pretty good. I’d go back again but not at prime time on a Saturday evening.
The service was good and the menu was diverse and interesting. The ambience and decor were lovely.
Curadero has quickly become our go-to place for pre-theater meals and drinks. Its location near the Civic Theater (and the House of Blues) is perfect but more than that, the food is great! Service is quick but not rushed and the servers are efficient and pleasant. We usually get there for happy hour before a show and three courses and drinks for two ran about $50. Get guacamole!
Love the decor and innovative menu. Guacamole was superb and ceviche was wonderfully acidic. My husband ordered the enchiladas and thought they were yummy. Friendly service.
10/10 authentic, truly outstanding
Great restaurant inside the Kimpton Palomar Hotel. Ambiance, great food and delicious drinks
The person serving our table really left a lot to be desired. Had he not been so arrogant, it would’ve been a better evening.
Great lunch & breakfast menu. Tasty drinks!
Food was ok. Didn’t die from it, but nothing to write home about. Everytime you ask the waitress a question she would say “I don’t know, let me go ask.” And then she’d disappear for a few minutes. Guess it’s better than making things up, but learn the menu ! I would temper all of this by saying that I really don’t like the whole downtown scene, so I didn’t have a great attitude walking in. Dirty, loud, crowded and a lot of homeless wandering around. I honestly don’t see the point.
Knew nothing about the restaurant except that it is close to the symphony hall. Turns out it is in the old Salt Box restaurant location. The margaritas were the best I have ever had - no mixes. Try the classic as it is very dry and well balanced - served up. Guacamole was extremely fresh and very large for sharing. The ceviche was also wonderful - lots of perfectly diced veggies in with the seafood - hot but not overly so. Tried the octopus tacos as well - delicious. We will be back to try the entrees next time.
Drinks overly sweet.
Food bland and mushy.
Service rude
Not a win.
get some real salsas and season the food please. You need a mexican in the kitchen ASAP!
Curadero was a new find...close to the Civic Theater and with food choices that seemed good. It fulfilled our expectations and more. Every bite of food was excellent, as well as good service. Authentic, spicy...just great! If I have one quibble it is that a large party came in after us and instead of sitting down and ordering they meandered around their tables which meant we had...let’s just say it...people’s rear ends practically in our faces as we ate. I’m pretty sure there’s a nice way for management to handle this in the future. But, all that being said...I’ll be back and I’ll be back with friends and family!
Excellent food, service and with Saturday happy hour prices.
Excellently prepared creative Mexican with very friendly service and great margaritas
At first I must admit I was apprehensive as the place was empty at 12:15 on a Saturday for lunch, but the food ended up being wonderful and the servers were very nice.
Service was very slow. Sat for 10 mins before we were given menus or a glass of water
I would recommend to a friend for the drinks alone
Great Appetizers and drinks. Bartender was very good
Good food. Friendly staff. Nice place.
The starters of Guacamole and Brisket Tacos were pretty good and had some modern flair. The Pozole was terrible. I never send food back, but I could not eat it. It was unusually bitter and the pork was just greasy threads. The hominy was overcooked. Big disappointment since I love Pozole. Then, I ordered a ceviche, but was brought the wrong one... meanwhile I waited 15 minutes for it. I had to flag down the waiter to get it corrected. Sangria was way too sweet. Strange, uneven meal. I also was wondering why Open Table is promoting this place when you cannot get points for dining. We won't be back.
The people that work here were really nice !! The food was good and reasonable at happy hour time :)) I think we almost tried everything on the menu . Would definitely go back !!!
My husband and I really enjoyed our experience at Curadero. The service was perfect and the people were warm and welcoming. The cocktails were tasty and well balanced. We really enjoyed the fish ceviche appetizer. Our entrees were perfect size. Not too much and not too little although I did see some reviews that the plates were skimpy for the price but we didn't leave hungry and I felt the quality warranted the price. The only negative was the lack of intimacy. Our neighbors were seated pretty close to us so we could hear their conversation and they could hear ours. I would suggest maybe spacing the seating out a tad. I would definitely eat there again and look forward to my next visit.
Cute spot and decor. Food and drink were underwhelming
Food wasn't very flavorful. It felt like it needed salt. The plates have great intentions and are inspired on authentic and innovative recipes, but the flavor was not there for me. I had the ceviche peruano, mushroom soup and queso fundido, among the things.
Food was just okay at best, very bland and the portions were small.
Great fish tacos, margaritas!
Don’t get the Ahí Al Pastor. The sopes were delicious as well as the tostadas and salsa, and the drinks!
This place wasn’t too bad, it just didn’t wow. Mushroom Soup lacked flavor, never got the salt and pepper I asked for, luckily there was a lemon on my GF’s salad that I used. Her Mexican Caesar was very yummy, Telera croutons were a nice touch. She got the enchiladas de mole, it was ok, more burnt tasting than sweet, the rice was oddly crispy on the outside, like it was cooked and then they re-fried it. I ordered the tamale with green sauce and a order of plaintains, both I would recommend. We both had the Jamaica Spritzer to drink, I would go back for that.
The decor and location is fantastic, the service was not very good and the big disappointment was the food, I had chicken tacos and they were blunt with little to no taste. The coleslaw served with it was much nicer. I was really hoping for a good meal. And you would expect better service at a place like this.
It was okay. Food was good, but tough competition for Mexican food in SD. Service was ehh.
