Cultivated F+B – The Lancaster Hotel
Located in the heart of Houston's theater and financial district; it is an easy walk to all live performances downtown.
Previously Bistro Lancaster.
Lovely and delicious with attentive and professional staff. Highly recommend!
such a beautiful setting! a perfect place for an early DELICIOUS dinner before a concert or play. we loved it!
Thank you for the 5 star rating!
Was very dissatisfied with service at this hotel 4-5 years ago & vowed never to return. Attend plays & theater’s downtown & this is ideal location for overnight stay. This was first time back after remodeling & understand new ownership & management! I cannot say enough about changes that have been made! Excellent!!! My compliments to all as the service, food, and total hotel accommodations was excellent!
We will be back!
We are honored to have you back and we are especially thrilled that loved your dinner at Cultivated F+B.
Excellent meal and service
It was a pleasure to serve you!
Excellent choice for near-theatre dining. Enticing menu, excellently prepared and presented. Attentive and friendly staff. Adjacent the lobby of the Lancaster Hotel. We are frequent diners when in Houston.
It was a pleasure to serve you and we thank you for choosing Cultivated F+B!
Dylan was great

We had a very good experience. The desserts were specially yummy.
It was a pleasure to serve you!
First time back after remodel.
Good menu, try the deviled eggs, great concept
Early dinner before AIDA
Will be back.
Complimentary parking with dinner has gone away..
It was so glad to have you back!
Fabulous and delightful in every way!
Great food, but our server was appalling. 1. No explanation of the menu or specials 2. We had to ask for our wine glass to be refilled 3. We asked for the desert menu, but it failed to arrive. This guy had a huge attitude..
The updated menu was excellent.
Great place to go if at the opera, theater or symphony.
The ruby trout special was fantastic. Filet was cooked perfectly and perfectly seasoned. The sauce for the salmon was also excellent. Great place to go before the theater or a show.
We appreciate your comments and feedback!
WE love the restaurant since it was redone. We are long time supporters of the Lancaster and the restaurant--coming to the opera for many years. Food, service, ambience are all better than ever.
I had the special of the day--last Friday--the Ruby Red Trout--it was divine. Only small suggestion is that I wish the plate had been heated more. I guess i concentrated too much on the fish at first--but many of the side veggies were not warm--though good.
Others at the table had lamb chops and the Airline chicken. They were both successful. I ordered the pot of coffee and, though the coffee server was beautiful, the coffee was weak.
What a treat to read your wonderful review. It was such a pleasure to serve you and we are thrilled that you enjoyed our delicious menu.
Had a nice dinner with an old friend from out of town. It was a Monday night which made it quiet. Service was prompt, courteous, and friendly. The food was very tasty and every bit was cooked perfectly. The calamari was perfectly breaded and seasoned with two sauces to dip. My friend thought the American Kobe burger was one of the best burgers hw has ever had. My chicken breast was done perfectly and was moist. The Old Fashioned I had was perfect. This was my second time here and I will be coming back again.
Wonderful! Many thanks for the review!
Had it not been for the poor service, I would have given them 5 stars. Our waiter was not very good. We had a table for four, we had to hunt the waiter down to order our a bottle of wine after we first got there. We ordered appetizers as our guests were running about 10 minutes late. When they showed up we ordered another appetizer and the waiter looked at his watch. I asked if there was a time crunch and he said he was trying to get us out of there quickly to make our theater time. I advised we were not going to the theater and that we were in no rush. It was my daughters birthday we were celebrating. Then he seemed to disappear for awhile. We were ready to order and thought we might need to hunt him down. The restaurant was very busy so we tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. He had zero personality. Ok got that off my chest. The food was wonderful. I had the filet and mashed potatoes which were delicious. My husband had the lamb chops, daughter had the scampi and her friend had the short ribs. Everyone thought the food was excellent. It was good enough to give it another try in hopes of getting better service.
Thank you for your comments and feedback. Our sincerest apologies for your less than favorable experience. Rest assured that we have discussed this with the staff that was involved and we hope to make it up to you on your next visit. Please contact me directly for your next reservation and I will personally take care of it for you. Allan Levine, Food & Beverage Director
Excellent food and quality service. Loved the ambiance too!
We are thrilled that you had a delightful meal!
Most of the meal very good (smoked salmon, scallops, grilled salmon). Only downsides; sautéed spinach way over salted, and side of mixed vegetables way too much oil.
We appreciate your comments and feedback and have made note of this.
When we arrived to celebrate our anniversary Oscar recognized us and told us he was going to 'take care of us'. It was soon apparent that Oscar wasn't merely greeting us, but really meeting our needs over the next two hours. Starting with superbly crafted martinis, through a delicious three courses and ending with a new and delightful Porto we were marvelously 'taken care of'.
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing your experience with others online!
The restaraunt was recently remodeled & was very nice. The staff was exceptional. The Food & Beverage Manager was very considerate & hospitable.
The fiod was great & served promptly. Very nice atmosphere for an enjoyable visit while eating.
Thank you for the wonderful review and thank you for choosing Cultivated F+B!
Great place to dine before opera.
Yes, many patrons enjoy a night at the Opera after dining with us. Many thanks!
The chef at Cultivated F & B has done it again! I had the red snapper special, such a treat!
Patrons love our snapper. We are thrilled that you loved it too!
The restaurant was lovely but very drafty, especially by windows. I know those old buildings are difficult to climate control. Everything else was wonderful.
Thank you for your comments and feedback. We appreciate it!
Opera visit. Server was amazing and the chef shared a risotto. Excellent.
We are thrilled that you had a lovely dinner!
Food excellent; by-the-glass wine selection very good.
Service a bit slow for a theater-district restaurant. We made our reservation plenty early and it was a good idea.
Quite small and cozy; would not show up without a reservation on Fri/ Sat nights.
Thank you for your comments and feedback. We have addressed this with our team and hope to serve you again soon.
We have eaten here many times. Food is very good, and it is very convenient to Jones Hall. On this occasion, the service was interminably slow. I suspect some of the wait and/or cook staff did not show up for work. Those who were there appeared to be trying their best.
We thank you for your patronage. We experienced unexpected business from Chevron Marathon and theater events on this particular day. We apologize for your less than favorable experience on this day. I would love for you to contact me directly for your future reservation. Again, thank you for choosing Cultivated F+B. -Allan Levine, Food & Beverage Director
Perfect for dinner before the symphony on a Saturday night.
Yes, many guests enjoy dinner at Cultivated before enjoying a show in the theater district.
As usual, our before performance meal was wonderful. They were very busy since it was the weekend of the Houston Marathon. But our food was not delayed and we got to the theatre in plenty of time. We have already made another reservation.
Many thanks for sharing your experience with the Opentable community!
The experience was very nice as others have been in the past. Location is just s few blocks from Hobby Center. Enjoyed lunch before a performance.
We went to the restaurant for a pre-concert dinner on a Saturday evening. We had a leisurely dinner sharing a starter of dates rolled in bacon followed by a steak and a rack of lamb as main courses. The food was of excellent quality and cooked to perfection. The wine selection was adequate and good value for money. All in all an excellent start to a wonderful evening.
A small bistro off the lobby of the Lancaster Hotel, F+B offers fine dining in the heart of Houston's Theater District. The setting is comfortable and staff are knowledgable and attentive. The menu offers choices for all tastes and culinary preferences. The most recent evening we were there the kitchen offered a grouper special, excellently prepared. The F+B crab cakes have been a long time favorite. Service is prompt, making F+B an excellent choice for dinner before the theater.
Food and service was fantastic! Atmosphere was pleasant and quiet. We will definitely be back.
My wife and I wished to take her mother out for a birthday dinner. We chose Lancaster F&B. We have taken coffee there after a couple of shows, but never had a meal. The food was good, service was good, alittle higher then we were expecting, but overall a good night.
Great food and great service. Well worth a visit.
Pre-symphony meal of bacon wrapped figs to start and lamb chops (medium rare) with broccolini and roasted baby Yukon Gold potatoes. Finished with the cheese plate (on the main menu as an appetizer, not on the dessert menu) and camomile tea. Pricy, but well presented and served.
A bit loud, mostly because of a party of 5-6 next to me with some cackling individuals.
Love this restaurant, just had a very loud group next to us, not restaurants fault
F+B was very good. We had dinner before theater on a Tuesday late afternoon. The restaurant was quiet, food very good, and the service attentive. The figs with bacon and blue cheese were very good a nice meld of the flavors -- nothing overpowering. I don't like blue cheese but really liked this appetizer. We both had the roasted half chicken with vegetables. Very moist and flavorful.
We are thrilled that you loved your appetizer and dinner. It was our pleasure to serve you!
Wonderful dinner experience with European guest. But sadly surprised having to pay $18 dollars for valet after a $300 plus meal.
We appreciate your comments regarding our restaurant valet charge and will continue to evaluate our pricing policies.
Lovely staff who work hard to make sure all goes well. Fresh tasting food and an historic venue, but I miss the horse picture in the lobby!
Thank you for your comments and feedback and thanks for choosing Cultivated F+B.
